Ms Williams is a new to me author and while I enjoyed this book, I didn't love it.
I liked Mary, Edwin, and their somewhat complicated backstory and their very complicated current situation.
As much as I enjoyed the Mary, Edwin, and the unique cast of secondary characters I really struggled with reading this at times. Part of it was the feeling as I moved through the book that there was a lot I didn't know, especially about Mary, that I needed to.
I struggled a little with connecting to the characters and the situations they found themselves in. I also had a sense of confusion regarding the true time period of the book. The premise of the book as presented in the blurb wasn't exactly what I encountered in the story and what was in the story seemed a bit thin.
Having not read anything else by this author, it's hard to say if this is a consistent issue or specific to this book. I am curious about the author though.....

Enlightened End ~ Audrey Carlan ~ Blog Tour

Enlightened End (Lotus House #7)
by #1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author
Audrey Carlan.
Release Date  26th June
Each of the books can be read as a standalone but are better read in order. No cliffhangers. Books are erotic romances written for mature audiences 18+.
Synopsis
My world ended the day I received an eviction notice for Lotus House Yoga. Teaching yoga is all I’ve ever known. I’ve been doing tree pose since the age of two. The studio is my home, my legacy. My mother and her best friend left Lotus House to me so that I could carry on spreading goodness and light to everyone who enters our door. Now I’m faced with the very real possibility that it will all go up in smoke…unless I can convince Grant Winters—the most ridiculously handsome and arrogant businessman I’ve ever met—to save not only my business but all those around it.
When I stormed into Grant’s office to beg and plead for a second chance at preserving what my family spent decades building, I had no idea how it would change my life.
A deal was made.
He’d visit the businesses he was planning to destroy and attend classes at Lotus House while I worked to change his mind. In exchange, I had to enter his business-first world of luxury, fast-talking men, and surgically enhanced women.
Turns out, I didn’t fit in... Then again, neither did he.
In the end, we were both enlightened.

3.75 stars for this is a solid conclusion to an entertaining series.
Luna is a character that we have seen throughout the other books in this series, so it was nice to get to know her a little better here. She was the perfect person to soften the rough edges of our hero, Grant.
I definitely enjoyed Luna and Grant's story - from a lust/love at first sight through his emotional evolution Ms. Carlan did an excellent job of telling their story amidst the conflict of trying to spare a community from the wrecking ball.
As this is also the conclusion to the Lotus House series, I appreciated the effort Ms. Carlan put into weaving the prior six couples into the story so we could see where they are now. This could have potentially been a deal breaker for me (as I've seen it done poorly before), but it was done very well here so that it felt organic to the story.
I had a few personal preference type issues with the story, these did impact my rating by bringing the book just shy of a full 4 stars. I am not going into detail here because they really are personal preference and not related to quality of the story or the writing to tell it, they may not
be issues for other people, so I want everyone to form their own opinion.
This is a series that I have enjoyed from the beginning and I feel like this is a good conclusion to bring it to an end.

Excerpt

Stella Lilith used to have an adventurous side, but I think it’s been a while since she broke a few rules. “Will you climb out first?”

There’s my girl. “Yep.” I press down on the sink, hoping it doesn’t fall off the wall. It looks old, so I’m not sure it can hold my weight. But it’s getting louder in the hall, so I climb up, grabbing an exposed pipe above the window, and maneuver my legs through the opening. Good thing we’re on the ground level. Pushing off, I land on my feet in the alley and turn around. “Stella?”

She peeks out and by the way her lips are twisted and her eyes are looking at the cement, she’s nervous. “I don’t want to fall.”

“I’d never let you. Not to the ground anyhow.”

For a second, she looks confused, but her brow relaxes and a small smile appears. “You’ll catch me?”

“Every time.”

She disappears, and I can hear her climbing onto the sink. Her legs slide out the window until her ass rests on the metal sill. “Ready for me, Rivers?”

“All my life.”

“For real,” she says, her nerves causing a slight shake to her tone. “You’re going to catch me, right?”

“Always.” I take her by the ass, and say, “Put your legs over my shoulders.”

“What? No.”

“Yes. I’ve got you. Then all I have to do is back up as you slip out.”

“I’m not as light as I used to be. Are you sure you can handle me?”

I work my way under her so her legs are over my shoulders. “Don’t worry about me, baby. I can handle you all right.”

Her thighs squeeze my neck. I like to think it was the name I slipped in there, but it’s probably because she’s anxious to do this. She slips out a little more, and our eyes meet. “You’re sure you’re ready?”

“All you have to do is let go. I have you.”

Releasing the pipe, she ducks her head to the side while I support her back with my hands, holding her until she clears the glass. Helping her upright, my face is against the jeans that cover her vagina and she’s squeezing my head with her legs so tight I don’t know if I’m going to live. What a sweet fucking way to die.

4.5 Stars - One of the Best

Oh my heart! I have loved each of the Crow Brothers books, but I think Rivers' might be my favorite. It’s definitely the most emotional of the three books.
As the third book in the series, we’ve gotten to know Rivers and understood that there was something lurking for him. I was nice to see him face that head on and see the truly genuine heart ❤️ he was hiding.
I loved Stella as a heroine even when my heart hurt for what she was going through.
Well written, this is a fantastic balance between romance, intrigue, family, and forgiveness. There are glimpses of Jet and Tulsa (and their other halves), but this is 100% Rivers and Stella’s story. The additional back story from the other books is helpful, but this could be read as a standalone.
I truly appreciate how Ms Scott has crafted this book. Not only does she give glimpses of prior characters, we get to see future leads as well without it detracting from this story - that is an art she has mastered.
As much as I think Rivers might be my favorite, I’m really glad we get one more visit with the brothers when Ridge’s book comes out!

WARNING - If you have not read the first book in the Blood Type series, stop. Do not read Blood Match first as you will be completely lost.
Having said that, I found this middle book of the series to be entertaining and intriguing. There is a Hunger Games - esque vibe to Reyna and Beckham's continued story and the intrigue element plays a much larger role than the romantic relationship.
I definitely see this more as Reyna's story with Beckham playing a secondary and supporting role. I appreciated Reyna's growth, even if she still wasn't making the best decisions. Well written, this is a compelling story that pulls the reader in and leaves you wanting to know what will happen next.
One plus for me; while Blood Match ends with a cliffhanger, it ends in such a way that if you are ready to be done with the story, you could walk away and let your imagination take over. I am very curious to see how things end in Blood Cure.

A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems. For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival. In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her. Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed. For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her. Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match. ADD TO GOODREADS

The stunning conclusion to the Blood Type series finds the world in chaos and turmoil with one final battle left to determine who will survive—humans or vampires. She had the world on her shoulders. Now she has nothing. Reyna Carpenter was twenty-one when she became a live-in blood escort for the ruthless and darkly handsome vampire Beckham Anderson. She thought this was just a small price to pay for feeding her brothers back home. But nothing went as planned. Not even her tumultuous relationship with Beckham. And now she wonders if anything will ever be the same again. As she finds herself in the midst of a losing rebellion, she and her trusted friends must flee from a city conquered by the vampire elite. With their plans blown to pieces and everything they knew and loved gone, their future hangs in the balance. Despite all she has lost, Reyna must rise from the ashes, reclaim the life that was stolen—and complete her mission, once and for all. ✦ ADD TO GOODREADSAmazon USAmazon UKiBooksB&NKoboGoogle Play           Kyla

The Optimist's Guide to Letting GoThe Optimist's Guide to Letting Go by Amy E. Reichert

My rating: 4 of 5 stars - Would Recommend to a Friend

Review Copy Provided by Publisher Via NetGalley

I have to confess that it took me a long time to read this book. It wasn't that I didn't enjoy the book because I did; I think the best way to describe it would be like a friend who is there waiting for you even when you need to step away.
Ms. Reichert introduces us to Gina, her mother Lorraine, and her daughter May. Gina is the apex of the triangle of the story, but Lorraine and May are key players as well. Using well blended present day story telling and flashbacks we see how much alike these three seemingly different people really are - and how much history repeats itself.
Gina was a character that I could relate to and I appreciated seeing her emotional growth and development. I especially liked how as the story unfolded she not learned more about her mother, but took lessons from the past and used them to make things better for her own little family going forward.
This is a story that definitely had elements of "make you think" and I believe it will especially hit home for people who fall into the "sandwich" of having older parents and children at home. There are lessons about grief, tolerance, communication, and finding happiness. While I most closely identified with Gina, I also grew to like Lorraine, May, and the rest of the cast. With this group, Ms Reichert has delivered a well rounded cast and compelling story.

This was a good read and while I appreciated the story, I wasn’t blown away by it.
I liked Ben and Rebecca and the mutual attraction they had for each other. The back ground of both and the evolution of their characters was interesting. I even found the intrigue element of the story compelling both as a vehicle to move the plot and the romantic relationship along.
That said, I was a little bored with the book. There were several times when I hoped for more and wanted to see the story go a little deeper. I think what bothered me most, was that this author has a fairly decent sized back list, but this book just didn't feel fleshed out. It was not what I expected from a veteran author. I have mixed feelings about future books in the Montana Strong series. I am both curious to see if Finn and Sam get stories, but also concerned that the future books would fall flat as well.

He stared at me for a long moment. “You’re sure she’s mine?” “She’s yours.” “Then that’s good enough.” “I—really?” I blinked. He didn’t want to verify paternity? He just . . . trusted me? He nodded. “Really.” “I swear, I tried to find you, Logan. On my life, I swear it. But the hotel wouldn’t give me your name no matter how much I begged. And you paid cash for your drinks and never mentioned your last name. I tried, but I just . . . didn’t know where to start.” “It’s not your fault. I believe you.” The sincerity in his voice made my throat burn. Goddamn it. I was going to cry. I’d worked so hard not to cry today. I’d fought to keep my emotions in check and my head from spinning out of control. But this was going to make me break. I wanted so badly for Logan to believe that I hadn’t kept Charlie from him intentionally. The fact that a man like him would trust someone like me without proof meant more than he’d ever know. “Thank you,” I choked out past the lump in my throat. “So, um, is Charlie inside with your husband? Or boyfriend?” The urge to cry disappeared and I barked out a laugh. “Smooth.” He chuckled. “It’s been a long day for me. Give me a break, will you? This morning I was in New York, then I came to Montana for a business meeting and discovered a daughter. I’m off my game.”

I think this might be the best “surprise baby” book I’ve ever read.
Okay - never thought I’d say that!
I really did enjoy the set up of this book. A memorable one night stand, not enough shared information, and fate steps in 6 years later.
Thea, Logan, and Charlie are characters that pulled me in and got me invested in how they were going to make their unique situation work.
I think one of the things I appreciated most is that there was very little dwelling on the past or blame placing. Thea and Logan both owned who they were and what they did that lead them to the present and worked to move on. Combine that with the fact that both of the adults made the child in the equation the center was something sweet to see. The Charlie/Logan storyline was a key piece to this book for me.
Well written and truly entertaining, Thea and Logan’s love story is definitely one to pick up.
There was one little “extra” blip in the story that seemed a little out of place to me, the intrigue element just didn’t seem to fit in the overall tale - that is my one complaint regarding this excellence book.

Review Copy Provided by Author

I was so glad to get to dive into Gabe and Crystal's story! After meeting them in Perfect Love Story, I was very curious to see what was really going on behind the antagonism they displayed toward each other.
Gabe and Crystal are both entertaining characters that bring baggage to the table. Given how the story started, I actually expected Gabe to be a little more "damaged," but other than a few references, he seemed to put the event behind him and move on fairly well. Yes, these two had some bumps in the road, but overall their story evolved as I would have expected given that they worked together and were trying to keep their relationship quiet.
Unexpected Love Story is told in parallel to Perfect, but Ms. Madison does a great job of keeping this one spoiler free in terms of the Walker/Hailey story. Unexpected didn't pack the emotional punch that Perfect did, but I think that's a good thing. My only real complaint (if you can call it that) is that a little too much time was spent on retelling the "why" for Hailey and Crystal moving. Yes, that is important, but given the length of the book, I think just a little too much time was spent there. I am very curious to see where Ms. Madison is going to take this series in the next installment.
