Falling in love is easy.

Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world.

And Elin and Ty Whitt are terrible at it.

The first time the local basketball star smiled at Elin, she was a goner. It was just so damn easy to fall for the dark-haired hometown hero with his charming smile and strong, athletic build.

Thousands of sleepy smiles, aimless drives down country roads, and squeaks of the backdoor after a swing shift later, reality hits. And it hits hard. Falling in love was definitely the easy part. Watching it break apart was impossible.

Through the tears, the second-guesses, the memories of a life built together, the world keeps spinning. With each turn comes clarity and hope—sometimes in the form of a pair of muddy boots by the back door or from the words of a wise friend.

When Ty shows back up with a new found determination to put his family back together, Elin's torn between the fights of the past and the possibility of a new start. This is the man that holds her heart, the man she loves beyond anything else. But this is also the one person in the world that can cause her the most pain.

Life’s not always easy. Love’s not for the faint of heart. But with life comes lessons and Ty and Elin have the scars to prove it. But it's their love written in those scars that will hold them together … or break them apart.

Lured In by Laura Drewry ~ New Release and Review

The O’Donnell brothers continue to cast their lines and find love at the Buoys—their magnificent Pacific Northwest fishing haven—in this alluring romance from the bestselling author of Off the Hook.

Seasick. That’s how Jessie Todd feels when her best friend and boss, Finn O’Donnell, tells her that the Buoys will be featured on a popular fishing program—which just so happens to be hosted by a guy she used to date. She’s still friendly with her ex, but her new feelings for Finn are making things . . . complicated. His life is out on the sea, and though Jessie works at the resort, her paralyzing phobia of water keeps her on land, where she’s safe. To take a shot with Finn, she’ll need to face her fears—and her innermost desires—head-on.

Finn has been nursing a crush on Jess for a long time, so when she suddenly asks for swimming lessons, he dives right in. Holding her shaking hand as she steps into the ocean makes his heart swell—despite the sinking feeling that she’s just doing it to impress that smarmy TV host. Finn doesn’t trust anyone with his bruised and battered heart, but he’ll be forced to lay it all on the line to keep Jess from being the one that got away.

Elizabeth's Review

3.75 stars - Worth a Reader's Time (and I would recommend it too)

Review copy provided by publisher via NetGalley

What a great Friend to Lovers story!

Lured In continues the story of the O'Donnell brothers and their fishing lodge, The Buoys. This time the story follows the youngest brother, Finn as he finally realizes he has feeling for the resort's Jack-of-all trades employee Jessie.

I liked both Jessie and Finn. They are both dealing with decades old emotional trauma that makes them the perfect person for the other to relate to. The years behind their friendship have paved the way for an amount of trust that is unusual for both and makes their romantic connection that much stronger.

The supporting cast is small, but important. I have to admit that Finn's brother, Liam and his girlfriend, Kate, frustrated me in this book. I liked and rooted for both of them in Off the Hook, but found their interference in Finn's relationship frustrating. The Liam and Kate represented in this story didn't quite ring true to the people I met in the previous book.

Throw in an ex-boyfriend, characters with a great sense of humor, and great sexy time and you have an engaging book that makes you want to come back to the Buoys for Ronan's story.

Willa sighed and headed to the door. Again Keane held the pink bedazzled cat carrier, which should have made him look ridiculous. Instead it somehow upped his testosterone levels. His sharp eyes were on her but they turned warm in a way that melted her right through her center as she moved toward him. She stopped with the glass door between them, hands on hips, hoping she looked irritated even if that wasn’t quite what she was feeling. His gaze lowered from her face to run over her body, which gave her another unwelcome rush of heat. Dammit. Now she was irritated and aroused—not a good combo. His mouth quirked at the saying on her apron that read Dear Santa, I Can Explain. Drawing a deep breath, she opened the door. “You’ve got Petunia again. I hope that means your great-aunt Sally isn’t still sick.” He looked surprised that she’d remembered his aunt’s name, or that she’d care. “I don’t know,” he said a little gruffly. “She left me a message saying that I was in charge for the rest of the week but for two days now Pita’s been happily destroying my jobsite. I’m throwing myself on your mercy here. Can you help?” Wow. He must be really desperate since he was actually asking and not assuming. But since Petunia was a sweetheart, she knew she’d do it. “I’ll even tell you where I went to high school,” he said, adding a smile that was shockingly charming. Wow. He hadn’t lost his touch when it came to turning it on. “Not necessary,” she said, painfully aware of their audience. Keane’s attention was suddenly directed upward, just above her head. She followed his line of sight and found a sprig of mistletoe hanging from the overhead display of small portable doggy pools. Mistletoe? What the hell? She glanced behind her and what do you know, suddenly Rory and Cara were a flurry of movement racing around looking very, very busy. “When did the mistletoe go up?” she asked them. “And why?” “FOMO,” Cara said from behind the counter. “Fear of missing out,” Rory translated. “She was hoping a hot guy would come in and the mistletoe would give her an excuse.” Willa narrowed her eyes and her two soon-to-be-dead employees scattered again. “Interesting,” Keane said, looking amused. “I’m not kissing you.” His mouth curved. “If you take Pita for the day, I’ll kiss you.” “Not necessary,” she said, gratified no one could see her heart during the two-step in her ears. “I’ll take Petunia for the day. No kiss required or wanted.” Liar, liar…     ttwm-teaser-6_teaserblitz

Choosing Happy ~ Samatha Harris ~ Blog Tour and Review

 Madison Buchanan’s life has imploded…

Her husband left her for his nineteen-year-old intern, leaving her alone and faced with starting over in her forties. With the help of her feisty best friend, Madison reinvents herself, armed with a new look and open to new possibilities.

Sean Taylor is gorgeous, fun, and young—very young…

He hasn’t had the best of luck. Sean’s track record with women is less than stellar, but when he walks into The Den one day, he just can’t help but be captivated by a dark haired beauty with the sad eyes and killer legs. She’s a little older, but he doesn’t discriminate. More than anything, he wants to be the one to make her smile.

Sean personifies the only thing that has eluded Madison all of her life—joy…

It was meant to be a fling, something fun, with no strings and zero drama, but Sean wants something more, and Madison is just not ready. She’s lived by the rules her family, her friends, even her boss have laid out for her, but her new life is not what she expected. Being with Sean opens feelings she never thought she’d experience.

The the demands of her family and her job throw her boring, simple life into chaos, and Sean is no exception…

Madison is left with a choice. Give in to the expectations of the world around her—or choose to follow her heart and be happy.

But choosing happy is so much harder than it seems.

One:
She took a deep breath and took a bite of her food, a sigh of pure satisfaction escaping her lips as she relaxed into her seat. F*ck me that sound. I could spend the rest of my life searching for more ways to get her to make that sound again. If her laugh had turned me on, that f*cking sigh made things almost painful.
Two:
“You are a mess,” I repeated, “but so am I. Life is messy.” I pressed my forehead against hers and exhaled. “The mess isn’t the problem. I can deal with messy. The problem is you won’t let me.”
“We make absolutely no sense. I get that, but I can’t explain it and I shouldn’t have to. We are so alike in some ways and completely different in others. She’s frustrating and overwhelming and I know that I should be running for the hills, but I love her. Why can’t that be enough?”

Samatha “Sam” Harris lives near Baltimore, Maryland with her husband David and daughter Ava. Born in Florida, she migrated north which most people agree was a little backwards. She has been an artist all of her life, a Tattoo Artist for more than ten years, and a storyteller since she was a kid.

Sam has a slightly unhealthy love for Frank Sinatra, classic movies, and Jazz and Blues music, but her first love will always be reading. From Romance, to Thrillers, to Historical Fiction and everything in between, she loves to become a part of the story. As a writer she tells the stories that she would want to read.

Elizabeth's Review

3.5 stars - Worth a reader's time

Review copy provided by author

Madison reinvents herself after a painful divorce and she meets a much younger Sean. She's looking for a fling while he thinks he's found the one.

Both Madison and Sean are interesting characters, even though I have to admit to being "team Sean" through the ups and downs of their relationship. I had a little bit of a hard time relating to Madison and how much she let the people around her influence and control her actions. The author makes a big deal about Madison's age, but to be honest she didn't behave like a woman who was in her early 40's. I didn't have an issue with her being older, but her behaviors didn't seem to line up with someone that mature.  I enjoyed watching Madison take hold of her own life and start to make her own way. Sean is truly one of the good guys and it was nice watching him get the ending he deserved.

A great supporting cast rounds things out and adds a sense of humor to situations that could be tense. I've now read both books in the Madison Square series and will definitely be back for more.

  Synopsis
Travis King is the worst kind of asshole.

He taunts me for being a good girl and mocks my high standards.

He’s cruel, crass, and has enough confidence to last two lifetimes.

And I hate him.

It wouldn’t matter so much if he were avoidable.

But considering he’s my older brother’s best friend and roommate, I see him more than I’d ever want to.

His sculpted abs and gorgeous eyes are wasted on such an arrogant man, which makes me hate him even more.

Even though I’ve had a crush on him since I was ten, the feelings weren’t mutual and he’s made that very clear.

He’s always loved getting under my skin and one night against my better judgment, I let him in my bed.

I’ve succumbed to his manwhore ways, but that doesn’t change a thing.

Because the King is about to get played at his own game—and lose.

Checkmate.

Beautiful exotic young woman
Young handsome macho man with muscle abdominal and open jacket sitting in armchair.

PROLOGUE

VIOLA
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, lived a young princess who awaited a prince who would give her everything she ever dreamed of… love, passion, loyalty. He’d be the sweetest, kindest, most heartwarming gentleman a girl could ever ask for. And he’d be perfect.
…Excuse me while I vomit.
There is absolutely, positively, no way that a man like that exists on this earth. I used to think he was, but of course, I was proven wrong. I was young and naive, and didn’t know any better.
And he was Travis King.
I remember how clear the sky was as I sat on my rooftop outside of my bedroom window. Summer was fading away and the start of my seventh grade year was right around the corner. The stars were super bright and as I counted them, I heard Travis’ father screaming from the house across from mine. He did that a lot and occasionally, I’d see Travis through the window of his bedroom. He’d put on his headphones to tune out the yelling, as if it was something to which he was accustomed. But that night he didn’t go to his bedroom. He ran out of his front door, slamming it behind him, and began pacing his front yard. I swallowed, watching him intently as his hands balled into fists at his sides.
When the Kings moved across the street from us, Travis and my older brother, Drew, instantly became best friends. They were both going into their first year of high school and I was sad I wouldn’t be at the same school as them anymore. Well, mostly about Travis. Drew had made it very clear he didn’t like his little sister tagging along, but Travis never made me feel like I was a nuisance.
As I watched him kick the dirt on the sidewalk, he looked up at me. His lips were turned down and I could see the anger in his eyes. My breath stilled as he watched me watch him, and I was certain he’d tell my brother I’d been spying on him.
Instead, he walked across the street, climbed up the trellis and sat down next to me. He stayed silent for a long while, but then he finally turned and spoke.
“I hate my dad sometimes.”
“Why does he get so mad?” I asked.
He looked away and rested his arms over his bent knees. “He drinks. Sometimes too much.”
“Does he hurt you?” He didn’t look at me. “Or your mother?”
He winced. “No. Just yells.”
We sat in silence, both lying on our backs as we looked up at the sky above us, the stars so bright and big.
“You can sit up here anytime, you know? My parents won’t mind.”
“Drew would,” he said matter-of-factly. “He’d call me a pansy.” He chuckled.
“Drew calls everyone that.”
He laughed again.
I turned my head and looked at him. “I don’t think you’re a pansy.”
Travis tilted his head and looked into my eyes and everything went serious. I watched his throat move, swallowing hard. He licked his lips and moved in close. Feeling his breath against my skin made me so nervous, I instinctively turned my head.
“Are you excited about going into high school?” I spit out, trying to change the subject, looking back up at the stars. I could’ve sworn Travis was about to kiss me. It would’ve been my first kiss.
Moments passed and he finally responded. “Yeah, I guess. It’ll be nice getting back into basketball season and staying late for practices and games.”
I knew what he was implying without saying the words. Less time at home.
“Why do you think she puts up with it?” Curiosity got the best of me, and I could no longer keep it in. “Can’t she leave him?” I asked.
He shrugged. I supposed it wasn’t that simple for adults, but to me it just sounded like common sense. Why would anyone want to be with someone that treated them like crap?
That wasn’t the last time Travis snuck up the rooftop and sat with me under the stars. We shared details with each other that we hadn’t shared with anyone else before. It was our secret little spot where we could talk or just sit and stare up at the sky.
It was easy.
He wasn’t my brother’s best friend.
I wasn’t his best friend’s little sister.
And the lines between us weren’t blurred.
I was only twelve years old, so I truly believed prince charming existed. As I grew older, I came to realize he never really did. Because if he did, he most certainly wouldn’t be available. And he most definitely wouldn’t be interested in a girl like me. I’m not saying that because I want anyone to tell me otherwise, but if such a man existed, he’d have no chance with me anyway. Because for some only-God-knows-why reason, my heart only beats for one man. My pulse only increases when he walks into the room. My cheeks flush and my body hums when he looks at me. I feel the blood in my veins as my skin heats from his very existence. He’s the epitome of perfection.
…Too bad a decade later, he’s a complete asshole.
Travis King.
He’s no knight in shining armor; more like a royal jackass. He may look like a prince on the outside, but on the inside he’s a cocky, arrogant womanizer that I want to shove over a cliff.
All right, that might sound dramatic and all, considering I just confessed my feelings about him, but those are feelings of hate…not love.
From being head over heels for him as a young girl to loathing him as a woman, Travis King needs to remember the golden rule—never admit defeat.
It was game on.

Some recent quick, fun reads

Here are several quick, fun reads that I've gone through recently. I've been plucking some of the books I picked up for free off of my TBR.... They don't have full reviews, but are books that would be worth reading if you are looking for something easy.

A Cowboy Never Says No ~ Stephanie Rowe

3.25 Stars - slightly more than an Average Read

A good read - I liked Mira and Chase and liked the two of them together. A good relationship story, both the romantic and sibling relationships. I'm curious about the other Stockton brothers.
Chase is definitely an awesome hero, a little Alpha, a little damaged, all sexy. Mira is stronger than she realizes and softens Chase in ways that he needs it - these two just need to get out of their own way!

Goodreads ~ Amazon

Marry Me Twice ~ Catherine Avril Morris

3 Stars - Average Read

Definitely a cute story. Janie comes across as a little naïve and her sister (and boss, Andrew) come across as abrasive. I liked the idea that Janie and Mason are attracted to each other and go into this to make the most of a bad situation, but the conflict seems forced and I didn't really understand what the problem truly was. This is a book that I think has a lot of potential, maybe just needs a little refining.

Goodreads ~ Amazon

Protected Mate by J.H. Croix

3 Stars - Average Read

A quick, fun shifter read. Dane (a mountain lion shifter) stumbles upon Chloe while she is hiking near his home and is instantly attracted to her.
Their story is one of insta -lust/love with an element of intrigue mixed in. I liked both Chloe and Dane, but wish I had gotten to know them better. This is actually a book I wish had been a little longer.
