I love a feel-good book where the leading man falls first!
Kate is a small-town girl who loves life JUST the way it is when Vincent sweeps her off her feet.

The journey these two took from whirlwind to suspicion/animosity to friends to more was sweet to watch. Ms Bay painted a vivid picture and pulled me into the story with entertaining characters and their growth. Secondary characters helped nudge both into the emotional growth that they needed - it can be good to push boundaries!

One of the things that I appreciated was that while they did both fall back on old habits, the conflict moments weren’t so drastic that the recovery seemed false. I was invested in these two and believed in the resolution as well as hoped for it.

An Interconnected stand-alone, DR CEO is a winner of a book and I am now very curious about the other Cove brothers.

Love and Order follows the last Maquire sibling as he finds his other half. This is labeled as an enemies-to-lovers tale and while it’s set up that way, that’s not the way the story plays out.

Finn is a retired Navy SEAL turned lawyer paired with a fellow attorney to win a big case and potentially make a partner. I enjoyed getting to know both him and Hailey better as we watched them do their best.

This is a basic feel-good story. Finn is truly a good guy and Hailey (while wounded by the past) is a likable, feisty leading lady. The conflict in the story is mainly external and plays out as expected. If you are looking for high drama and angst, this is not the book for you.

Hot to the Touch wraps up the trilogy of books in the Hot in Chicago Rookies group. This time we get to spend time with Sam, the playboy of the friend group at the center of this series. Sam is paired with Cass (Cassie, Cassandra) his brother's sister-in-law as they navigate an incredibly difficult situation.

If you have followed the series, you will remember Sam as he has supported Abby and Jude as they figured things out. Now it's their turn to support him. We get to see a much deeper dive into who Sam is behind the playboy persona here. Ms Meader does an excellent job of peeling back the layers and letting the good guy shine through. As we got to know Sam and Cass, I found myself liking both characters and rooting for them to find a new footing and give themselves the grace they needed to find happiness.

One of the things I appreciated about Hot to the Touch is that Ms Meader avoided the most obvious conflict for Sam and Cass. The issue was hinted at, but more complicated and emotional issues were addressed instead. I felt like that added depth to the story and made me that much more invested in the story.

The secondary cast here is amazing. We see lots of the original Hot in Chicago couples make an appearance along with the other Rookies. Add in Ms Meader's expected spiciness and humor and this is a great conclusion to a fun series.

This is a quick novella-length read in the Hot in Chicago world. The characters are new, so if you are new to Ms Meader then you can slide right into the story.
Loyal Meader readers will get great glimpses of previous main characters. This is a fun series am I am looking forward to more rookie reads.

The Proposal is pure entertainment and just what I needed to take a break from the "real" world! This is a book that I couldn't wait to finish and was sad to see end all at the same time.

The characters here are brand new; Blakely and Renn have been in each other's orbit for a long time. There's been flirting, bad experiences with other people, and an unwritten rule that things won't go "too" far. Seeing all of that get tossed out the window was fantastic! Ms Locke did a wonderful job of creating characters that were easy to like and root for to find a happy ending. These are people that, while they had an extravagant lifestyle, were also relatable.

Renn has a big family (a Locke trademark) and it was interesting to see the dynamics between them. I will say there was a bit of a plot twist here that makes me wonder if we might actually be seeing the beginning of a new series. Loyal Locke readers will get a kick out of the cameos from previous series and there are even a few hints about a favorite secondary character that may have a story coming soon.

This is a definite recommend to read!
