He’s my best friend’s older brother.
He’s quiet, brooding, sexy as sin…
Dark hair, a scruffy square jaw, and deep lines of muscle I trace my fingers along slowly, followed by my lips…
He always does what’s right.
Until me…
They say you get in life what you have the courage to ask for.
Well, I’m brave.
And I want him.
Secrets.
Everybody has them.
Big, small, innocent… forbidden.
Mindy was a line I should never have crossed.
But I did.
She was beautiful… sassy and tempting,
And rules were made to be broken.
We broke them all.
Now I’m home, released from service with hidden scars.
Now my secrets are the demons that grow stronger every day.
I try to send her away, but I can’t let her go.
She’s my reason to fight, and I’ll walk through hell to be the man she deserves.
To give her a reason to stay here with me.
(HERE WITH ME is a STAND-ALONE best friend’s older brother, second-chance, military romance. No cheating. No cliffhangers.)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars - One of the Best

Here with Me is the third (or second depending on how you look at) book about Marines who returned home with baggage and have worked to heal. The focus for this book is Sawyer (brother of Noel from Wait for Me) and Mindy, the younger sister’s friend/unrequited love interest.
This book is by Tia Louise, so I don’t need to tell you it’s well written that is pretty much a given. The story line isn’t super unique, it’s a plot arc most readers have seen before. So what made this a 5 star read?
This was a 5 star read for me because Ms Louise hit on a couple of messages that I think people need to hear. The first - that even when we love someone, they will treat us to the standard we allow. Sometimes we have to do the hard thing and create a higher bar for them to reach - I was so glad to see Miss Irene help Mindy get that message.
The second piece for me was that mental health care is important and we need to do a better job for our veterans in helping them make sure they are healing the way they need to when they come home.
Sawyer and Mindy’s love story had ups and downs, but in the end it was a sweet story about finding your path, healing, and finding your anchor.
