Mafia/dark romance reads normally aren’t my thing, but after reading Tarnished Empire, I was curious to read more of Ms Harrison and her brand of dark hero.
Matteo and Viviana are an interesting couple. On the surface, I wasn’t sure I liked either of them at first. I couldn’t imagine how she let herself be in the situation she was in (you have to read to see what that is.....) and he was - to quote his leading lady “an asshole.”
This is a well written, fast paced, plot driven book. So, while there is not a ton of deep dive character development, there was enough that both Viviana and Matteo grew on me as I saw them spend time together.
After reading Ruthless Monarch and Tarnished Empire, I am even more curious to see what Ms Harrison has in store for us.
