You Had Your Chance, Lee Burrows ~ Piper Rayne ~ New Release & Review
USA Today Bestselling Author, Piper Rayne, begins the Kingsmen Football Stars series with an enemies-to-lovers, second chance story set in the world of professional football.
You Had Your Chance, Lee Burrows by Piper Rayne is now live!
Lee f’ing Burrows
The Kingsmen’s star quarterback.
Legendary throwing arm.
Six-pack abs.
Kissable lips.
Oh, but don’t forget, he’s also a lying, heartless egomaniac who broke my heart in college.
It took me years to build myself back up after his deceit, and now I have the dream opportunity to prove myself working as a sports therapist for a professional team.
The hurdle? Or mountain to be more accurate…
The job is with the San Francisco Kingsmen.
Back when I was a naïve college girl, I felt lucky that he even noticed me. Now eight years later, he’d be lucky if I gave him the time of day.
Which I won’t. Not ever.
Some people don’t deserve a second chance and Lee Burrows is one of them.
Now if someone could only tell him that because he’s hell-bent on scoring the winning touchdown and won’t accept that it’s game over for us.

You Had Your Chance, Lee Burrows introduces a new series from Piper Rayne. This is focused on the Kingsmen football team based in San Francisco. This first book focuses on team quarterback, Lee Burrows, as he enters his last year of a contract. Lee’s potential love interest is Shayna, the “girl who got away” in college.
I enjoyed seeing these two reconnecting. The duo behind Piper Rayne did an excellent job of creating a dynamic where both Lee and Shayna had emotional “power” in the evolution of the relationship.
As much as this story is about Lee, Shayna, and their potential, it is also a world building story as we get to know the cast of characters in the Kingsmen. Lee’s teammates play key roles here, they help move the story along while also giving glimpses of future stories. This is a group that I enjoyed getting to know.
If Lee’s last name sounds familiar- that’s because you’ve met his brother before. There may even be a brief Kane cameo.
Overall this was an entertaining read that had a slightly unexpected sweet side. I am looking forward to more of this series.

Oh those Dastardly Davies!
In this fun and refreshing historical romance, Ms Bateman returns us to the post napoleonic “feud” between the Davies and Montgomery families - this time focusing on Morgan and Harriett.
While the “feud” has thawed, these two have a life time of needling each other and it was very entertaining to see that history play out.
Fantastic characters, light intrigue, and a great secondary cast all contribute to this unique read that stands alone in a series. These books are sequential, so a decent amount of the Morgan/Harriett world building takes place in other books. Don’t let that dissuade you though! You could easily start this series here- just be prepared for spoilers.

Sweet friends to lovers read!
Jackson and Tenley have been best friends for 13 years and he's been blind to the crush she's had on him while he continued to date the "convienient" girl. All of that changes when the professional footballer gets hurt and needs help.
I enjoyed seeing them bond as Tenley filled a needed gap in Jackson's life. The idea that the blinders came off for him was entertaining to watch and their evolving relationship was a feel good experience. The conflict in the story was beleiveable and based on issues that were realistic to a professional athlete.
The secondary cast here including Tenley's sisters and friends, but Jackson's teammates played a bigger role. As this is the first book in a series, the world building was well done and contributed to the story. Ms Silver is a new author to me and I am curious to see if there are other books in this series.

Perfectly Imperfect! Tuck and Francesca were characters that I loved meeting and seeing how they evolved together.
These are unique characters that are at a cross roads when they meet each other. Both bring enough baggage to the table that they shouldn’t work together, but they do! Add in the family is who you chose secondary cast and this is another winner from Ms Madden- Mills.
Princess and the Player is a complete stand alone, but there will be names referenced that loyal Mills fans will recognize. I am also very curious about some of the secondary characters here and hope that they will pop up in future stories.

We’ve known the McAllister sisters for a while now, as we met them in the original Cloverleaf series. In this book, we get to know Millie, the oldest. She’s paired with Zach a somewhat unexpected encounter that follows her home.
I enjoyed getting to know Millie and Zach, both are interesting characters who have definite directions they think their lives should go. It was entertaining to see them, navigate their different paths along with their attraction to each other.
I’m normally not a huge fan of the large age gap stories, but Ms. Harlow did an excellent job making it work here. There are a couple of complicating factors for Millie and Zach and I appreciated seeing them work through them.
If you are a fan of Miss Harlow’s work, you will enjoy seeing multiple cameos from other Cloverleaf stars in the secondary cast, there is even some crossover from characters with another author, whose work you may know. Those add just a smidge of extra fun to this already great read.

This was a sweet read that I picked up for free and I am so glad I did!
Elias and Cammi are a fun friends to lovers story. It was fun to see them transition from circling around each other to actually exploring their chemistry.
This is book 2 in a series, but it seems to be even more connected than that- the community of Diamond Creek appears to have hosted its fair share of stories based on the couples that appear here in secondary roles. Don’t worry though, this definitely works as a stand alone! It does make me curious about author Croix’s back list though!

the muse ~ Emma Scott ~ cover reveal
Emma Scott has revealed the gorgeous cover for The Muse!
Releasing: January 8, 2023
Cover Design: Lori Jackson Designs
From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Emma Scott, comes an emotional paranormal romance about sacrifice, redemption, and the power of true love.
Cole Matheson didn't expect the road toward being a successful painter would be paved in gold, but he hoped there'd be a few less potholes. Insidious self-doubt that whispers that he's no good, talentless, hopeless has him on the brink of despair. Maybe it would be better to just give up.
A midnight visit by a beautiful creature of darkness changes everything...
Ambrosius Edward Meade-Finch surrendered to the underworld centuries ago after knowing only pain and suffering during his short life. Now, Ambri makes humans dance on his strings, feeding on their desire for his own pleasure. But his liege lord questions his loyalty and commands him to bring a pure soul into their dark realm.
Cole Matheson seemed like an easy mark, but Ambri didn't count on his goodness or the depth of his generous spirit that wants Ambri just as he is. And Cole never expected to find in Ambri a muse who unlocks his talent and who might also be what his lonely heart has been searching for. Something fragile yet powerful grows between them, and the possibility of soul-deep love hangs in the balance, if only they have the courage to reach for it.
But fairy tale endings don't come without a price. The dark forces Ambri answers to have been promised a soul, and they're coming to collect...
The Muse is book 2 in the Angels and Demons series but can be read as a standalone.
Be sure to add it to your TBR!

Keep This Promise ~ Corinne Michaels ~ Cover Reveal
Corinne Michaels has revealed the cover for Keep this Promise!
Releasing: January 23, 2023
Cover Design: Sommer Stein, Perfect Pear Creative
Photographer: Nicole Ashley Photography
I’m about to lose everything.
My home. My name. My future.
My husband was involved in something that could cost us our lives, and on his deathbed, he demands my daughter and I flee Britain.
I had no idea he found her biological father, Holden James, in Rose Canyon, and that’s where we’d start over.
The moment we see each other, feelings I’d long forgotten rush over me. Holden doesn’t hesitate to care for us. We find ourselves reaching for each other, even when we should hold back. His smile warms me, his arms protect me, and against my better judgment, I fall for him. All the possibilities of a future are threatened by a looming past.
I’m being hunted, and it’s just a matter of time before someone finds me guilty of crimes I didn’t commit. Whatever trouble my husband was involved in won’t evade me forever.
I am trying to keep my promise and stay for Holden, but I don’t know how long it’ll be before we have to run.
My name was Sophie Pearson, but I vanished, just like my hope to ever find love again.

I’m pretty sure Sawyer Bennett can do it all! This addition to the Stone Veil series helps cement her role as a paranormal author along with the other genres where she has succeeded in the past.
Amell is a character that we have seen consistently through this series and it was entertaining to get to know him better here. He is paired with Nyssa, a human who finds her way into his realm of the Underworld.
Compared to previous installments of this series, Amell’s story is actually fairly tame. This story definitely has a more emotional element and I appreciated the evolution both characters experienced.
While this is technically a stand alone, the Chronicles of the Stone Veil is a series I would read in order. Amell’s story is very strongly tied to the earlier books of the series and having read those first will help add richness here. There are also secondary characters that I am hoping we will see stories for in the future.

Melanie Moreland is an author I can count on the deliver a heart warming story about a couple who overcomes obstacles and this is no exception.
For reference- this is a reissue and the title is slightly different, so if you have been reading Ms Moreland for a long time you might have read this one before.
This is a book that I missed the first time around, so I was excited to meet Ally and Adam. They are both interesting characters that have unique back stories. I loved watching them click together like puzzle pieces. Life and fate play a part in what happens next to this duo - I don’t want to give anything away- but I will say that I didn’t see the twist coming the way it did.
Well written, the story pulled me in. My only regret is that I didn’t get to read the original story earlier!

When Hate and Love Collide ~ Mia Kayla ~ New Release
My rating: 4 of 5 stars - Worth a Reader's Time
Oh my gosh - I love Sydney and Austin! Mia Kayla’s return after a hiatus definitely knocks it out of the park with this super sweet read.
Both Sydney and Austin have family drama in their backstories and it causes them to have more in common than they initially think. Their meet cute is related to the drama created by their siblings and I truly enjoyed their evolution from barely acquaintances to friends to more.
Not only do we see the evolution of Sydney and Austin’s relationship, we also see them evolve as people, especially Sydney. I appreciated the emotional work she had to do for them to find a path to potentially happy ever after.
Well written with characteristic quirkiness in the characters, this stand alone from Ms Kayla was worth the wait. There are a few hints at her other series that loyal fans will enjoy seeing. Sydney is part of a large family who play key secondary roles, I am hoping this means more Loverly books will be on the way.
