Ms Meader brings us back to the Chicago Rebels with a unique meet-cute for a player we met briefly in the previous series installment. Banks is a strong silent player headed into the sunset of his career when he does something unusual in Vegas. He is paired with Georgia, a young socialite, who could not be more opposite.
It was fun watching these two navigate the strangeness of their beginning and find out that maybe they liked each other. Both Banks and Georgia struggled with communication issues which made them seem more approachable and real. We were able to go along with them as they grew emotionally and in their interactions with each other.
I appreciated the way Ms Meader approached the relationship between Georgia and Banks. There was an excellent blend of the personal development of each character and the evolving romance. Given that this the 9th book in the series, there are a lot of cameos for previous couples. Hockey Wife is a standalone read, but is made richer if you have been following along with the series.

Picked up for Free
This was a read I picked up for free and while it was entertaining, I am glad it's not a book I paid for.
A very quick read with a high spice level. Minimal character development and the plot revolves almost entirely around the physical relationship of the main characters.
The entertainment value would have had this as a 3-star read, but the confusing tense changes and random places where the story suddenly became third-person caused it to lose a 1/2 star for me.
