I feel bad that it took me so long to finish Formula Freedom! It isn’t that I didn’t like and connect with Lara and Reid, it’s just that real life kept getting in the way.
These two are life long friends that get caught in a bit of a messy situation. There is definitely a sense of them finally being “the right person at the right time” but having drama to get there.
The balance of sport/relationship/drama made this book feel a little more surface level than some of Ms Bennett’s other works. I didn’t feel AS invested in these two as a couple even as I rooted for them.
Formula Freedom is an enjoyable read and it continues the world building for Formula International, but it felt a bit of a stepping stone to the next book. I would have appreciated a bit more of a dive into the triangle surrounding Lara and Reid.
