3.5 stars - Worth a Reader's Time

This is the third installment of the ladies behind King & Co investigations, this time focusing on Daisy.
She is paired with Lucien Vaughn, a Duke that has been in her orbit for several years via her brothers.

This was a fun, unique forced proximity story. I enjoyed the sparing between these two as their adventures unfolded. If only they could communicate!

Add in a fun supporting cast and this was a treat of a historical romance that highlights the dichotomy of English Society of the time.

Slightly morally grey hero? Check
Quick attraction/love? Check
Happily ever after? Check

Ms Moreland delivers another entertaining and fun dip back into her morally grey heros with Unexpected Complication when homeless Skylar stumbles into a warehouse she should be in and sees “Tony” do something terrible.

What follows shows the depth of both characters and I ended up liking them very much and rooting for them to be successful.

This cemented Ms Moreland as one of my go to authors as I know I will enjoy each book she writes!

Ms Shalvis gives us a new family to love with the Colburns!
They are 3 brothers and their younger sister running a family business in the small town of Stars Fall. He Falls First features the oldest, Ryder, paired with Penny after her return town.

I loved these two! Both Penny and Ryder have baggage related to family and past relationships. Those wounds have them gun shy, but the grace they gave each other had the whole story feeling like a great big hug!
The slight role reversal of him being the one ready and genuinely giving space for Penny to catch up played a big part in the emotional dynamic of the story.

As with all first in a series stories, this book had to do double duty of telling one story while also laying the ground work for others. The balance here is spot on! The secondary cast is amazing and I can’t wait to see where their stories go.
