What I've Been Reading

The Best Is Yet To Come (Summer Lake, #1)The Best Is Yet To Come by Bella Andre

3.5 stars
If you are new the Bella Andre, this would be a good book to start with as it's the beginning of a new spinoff series.
Calvin is a character that we've met as the Sullivan family has visited the town of Summer Lake, but we don't know him very well. In the Best Is Yet to Come, we get to know more of Calvin's story and meet his high school sweetheart, Sarah when she returns to town for the first time.
This is a second chance romance and we get to see Calvin and Sarah figure out if they can make a go of it as adults where they couldn't at 18. But, as much as this is a second chance romance - it's also a story about self discovery, especially for Sarah as she is forced to reevaluate some of the things she had always thought were true.
Well written and fun, this is an enjoyable escape read. It's the type of book that makes you want to curl up and stay a while, just like if you were visiting old friends.

True Alpha (Shifters in Seattle 1)True Alpha by Alisa Woods

3.5 Stars - Worth a Reader's Time

Thank goodness I came across this as a box set - had I discovered them as individual stories, the serial format would have driven me crazy. Having all 6 - yes 6 - shorter books published as one volume made for an enjoyable reading experience.
Lucas is a wolf shifter who lost his mate and therefore his pack - he also feels tremendous guilt and doesn't think he deserve to really live life anymore. Mia is a college student who is hiding the fact that she is a wolf shifter as well - she knows almost nothing about the shifter world when their paths cross and he ends up saving her from "dark" wolves.
The story that follows requires you to suspend reality a little bit, but is entertaining and sexy. I like Mia and Lucas together, even though there were times when I just wanted to shake then both because they were being stupid. They both make multiple poor decisions before finally being forced into a situation that basically slaps Lucas upside the head and makes him see the light.
If lighter paranormal is your things - then this is definitely a set for you, just make sure you get the box set.

A True Alpha Christmas (True Alpha)A True Alpha Christmas by Alisa Woods

3.5 stars - Worth a Reader's Time

A sweet addition to the True Alpha - this must be read in order for it to make sense.
We catch up with Mia and Lucas several months after the conclusion of the True Alpha and see that even their special relationship has issues to be worked through.
This was a well written piece, but it shows just how young Mia really is. I'm glad I was able to read it right after finishing True Alpha.
