When We Found HomeWhen We Found Home by Susan Mallery

4.5 Stars - One of the best

I think this might be one of my favorite books by Ms Mallery. Not only does When We Found Home capture 2 romances, but it also captures the building of a family and the struggles of deciding who you really are.
One of the things that made this work unique and truly enjoyable for me was the fact that the core cast of characters was actually five people. With such a large main cast, i was impressed that each Individual received equal time and that I felt connected to all of them.
The core of the group are 3 siblings who have just discovered each other. While their situation may be a bit idealistic, the relationship building and emotional growth for all 3 was heartwarming. Add in romantic interests for the older two siblings and two serious cases of introspection and you have a fantastic blend of traditional romance and women’s fiction.

This is a prequel to a series that I haven't read yet.
Lost to You is a well written young adult story focusing on two college students, Christian and Elizabeth.
This is an entertaining story that follows these two through their first semester at Columbia. It was interesting to start the series at the very beginning and watch these two go from friends to more. Both are very likeable characters, even if Christian has a luggage cart full of baggage that he's bringing along with him.
Lost to You is a sweet love story that ends in a whopper of a cliff hanger. I am looking forward to seeing what happens in Take This Regret.

Melting Ice
Oh what a sweet story. Issac doesn’t start off all that great, but the more we got to know him the more I like him. He was a good guy wrapped up in a misunderstood package.
I enjoyed seeing him evolved and start to look beyond himself and I think Avery drew that out for him. I genuinely enjoyed their story and want to read more about the Wolfe brothers and by this author.

Blindsided
Tanner finds himself in a situation similar to what Issac faced in Melting Ice and found his redemption in the right woman, Emma. I appreciated seeing Tanner’s evolution from playboy to serious athlete and family man. I found the dynamics between the Maxwell sisters to be interesting and wondered more about Bella’s story.
After reading both Issac and Tanner’s stories and seeing their improving relationship, I am curious about Zeke’s story.

Bottom of the Ninth
Zeke’s story is a little different than that of his brother’s, but of a similar vein. Of the 3 brothers he is the hardest nut to crack because he starts out believing he has it all together. I loved Paisley and how she and her little family held up just the right mirror for Zeke to finally heal.

Overall I enjoyed the box set - a couple of things though...
Editing issues- since these are books that were published previously and pulled together, I wouldn’t have expected there to be any typos etc, but they were definitely there, especially in Tanner’s book.
Also, one thing to note is that while Issac’s and Tanner’s books are sequential in the original publication, there is a gap between Tanner’s book and Zeke’s. This changes the presentation of a secondary character (the 4th Maxwell sister, Bella). While her role here is small, the change is noticeable.

I am still curious to read more of this author and see what else may be in store for the athletes of
Seattle.
