If you are looking for a good poolside or beach read, you’ve found it with the Summer of No Attachments.

Friends Ivey and Hope are a likeable pair that I enjoyed getting to know. Their interactions with each other spoke to the bonds of family we choose and it was nice to see an example of a healthy, supportive female friendship.

It was also fun to see them in their budding friendships/relationships with brothers Corbin and Lang. Both men were almost too good to be true, but it worked for this story.

Overall, this is a fairly light read. There are some conflict-like moments, but they flow through the whole story vs one big fight scene. The lighter feel felt just right coming off the stresses of 2020 and into a new summer.

We had glimpses of the extended Lyon family in the Beach in Winter. A River in Spring introduces us to brother Nobel, a 40 something set in his ways and nicknamed “the Invisible Man”

A truly fun meet cute brings Dove into his life and a sweet story unfolds. Nobel and Dove (along with their family and friends) were great characters to get to know. I appreciated how Ms Pike took the potentially extreme personality differences and managed to blend them into something that could be love.

The conflict of A River in Spring is woven into the story in such a way that we can see it coming, but weren’t sure how things would play out. I loved how Nobel was surrounded by strong women and could see his own struggles in reconciling his wants with someone else’s.

Family, both those by blood and by choice, play a huge role in this well written book. This is a man interconnected stand-alone. It was nice to see where Scarlett and Parish (from a A Beach in Winter) are now and get an idea of who the other Lyon brothers are. I am looking forward to seeing more from this family!
