If you've read Ms Flynn's Anger Bang, you remember Thea's ride-or-die friends Astrid and Nola. In Walk of Shame, we catch up with our three friends in Astrid's story. The bulk of this story takes place sequentially to Thea's, but there are no spoilers just in case you are reading our trio of girlfriends out of order.

When we meet Astrid, she is 5 years past a romantic trauma that changed the course of her life. She's "dealt" with things on the surface, but has she? Then she meets Cal - one man she shouldn't get involved with even though she doesn't know that then.

Ms Flynn does an excellent job of blending humor into the emotional growth that both Astrid and Cal need to experience to have the future both deserve (individually and together). There is a great secondary cast that loyal readers will recognize that helps steer our clueless duo in the direction they need to go. This was an entertaining book that also tugged on some heartstrings. We also see hints as to who Nola's love interest might be and I was left very curious about Cal's sisters!

Let’s go back to the Chicago Rebels with team bad boy, Dex O’Malley. Dex has been in several of the previous Rebel books as a secondary character, but this is the first time we’ve really gotten a chance to know him as a person. This opportunity comes because Dex has lived up to his reputation and gotten in trouble again.

I appreciated that Ms Meader gave Dex a chance to redeem himself and grow as a person in Wild Ride. Pairing him with single mom, Ashley, gave him a chance to see what working to impress someone could do.

I found myself liking Ashley and her daughter, Willa. Their journey hasn’t been easy, but as Dex gets to know them he can see similarities to himself and gets to show his own empathy. This romantic pairing was sweet as it gave both characters a chance to evolve into stronger individuals who worked well together.

This is also a great opportunity to catch up with Rebels we haven’t seen in a while as the team pulls together to support Dex. Long-term readers will be glad for these little catch-ups as well as the tease for the next book in the series.
