Jewel E Ann is a new to me author. I’ve seen her work and may even have previous books on my TBR, but this is the first that I’ve read.
I very much enjoyed Fortuity, but am struggling a little bit with how to tell you WHY I liked it. Gracelyn (with her nephew Gabe) and Nate (with his daughter Morgan) are both in a time of transition when they meet as neighbors on the San Diego beach.
This is not what I would consider a typical romance in that there is no one courting or pursing a relationship with the other, it’s a relationship that develops over time and it is sweet to watch them become ingrained in each other’s lives. I appreciated how in almost all situations they made sure to put the welfare of the kids above other considerations.
While this is a story about people coming together, it’s also a story about healing and humor. Mr Hans (the shared landlord), the kids, and Gracelyn’s insecurities create several laugh out loud moments.
Overall, this is a sweet and sometimes funny read. It may be my first Jewel E Ann book, but it will not be the last.
