I don't want anything to do with my crazy family's drama, which I've been watching unfold from a distance over the last year, but now my grandfather has Alzheimer's and I feel I need to at least make a quick visit to see him. In this 5th installment of the Wynn hockey series, we meet Jax. He hasn’t really been in the previous books as we he lives in Chicago vs LA. Just like his cousins/aunts/uncles he has a fair amount of baggage from poorly learned emotional lessons. He is paired with Molly, his friend who recently discovered her fiancée was less than faithful.
I enjoyed seeing Jax and Molly together. The ways he “helped” her seemed obvious, but there were more subtle ways Molly helped Jax deal with things and grow. The evolution of their relationship from friends to more was sweet. Even how Steve, her ex and his teammate, reacted to them being a couple spoke to the fact that they were genuinely good people.
Game Changer is a well written, feel good story. If you have been following the Wynn series, you will updates from previous main characters. If you are new to the series, this is a good place to start as Jax and Molly’s story is pretty much independent of the previous books. I definitely enjoyed meeting this couple and look forward to seeing what happens next for the Wynn family.
