Oh wow! Tarnished Empire is a unique and exciting read that I wasn’t expecting. I’m really struggling with how to encourage you to read this book without giving anything away. Instead of normal “review,” I’m just going to give you a list of the things this books does well.

-Great Characters. Even went they weren’t behaving very well Alaric and Phoenix are people that I was glad to spend time with.

-Unexpected situation. This starts as something fairly normal, two families of “bad” guys trying to settle a score with a young woman playing out of her league. The book takes a hard left turn that changes the whole tone of the book.

-Emotional growth. Both characters do some soul searching and evolving that made me root for them even more.

Ms Harrison is a new-ish author for me, but with well written, edge of my seat reads like this, I will definitely be looking for more from her.
