Ms Boldt delivers another unexpected set of twists and turns with Beyond my Darkness. Georgia Danvers and Bronson Cortez are both complex and layered characters that at first glance shouldn’t have anything to do with each other. Until fate decides to mix things up…. And to avoid spoilers, that’s as far as I am going with that!
As far as the characters go, I found myself really liking both Georgia and Bronson. Her strength (which is revealed via flashbacks) and sass made her someone that I’d be glad to have as a friend. He is very rough around the edges and not the classic hero, but he has his own sense of ethics that make him someone to that I could respect and root for a little bit too.
The story here is layered. There is a romance, competing affections, and mystery. The different pieces are interwoven together well, so well that they definitely feed off of each other. The secondary cast here is small, but they pack a wallop. There are several I am curious and hope to eventually know more about
I found it hard to put this book down and it helps cement Ms Boldt as a master of romantic suspense!
