Nora Robert’s has been a go-to author for a long time. I was thrilled when the opportunity to read her latest book came up on Net Galley.

We meet Sonya MacTavish on the day the life she thought she planned went flying out the door along with her cheating fiancée. Life changes dramatically when she discovers a long-lost uncle left her the family “manor” in Maine.

Sonya’s move to Maine with her freelance business sets her on a path full of mystery, intriguing visitors, and a hunky lawyer to keep her company. The “manor” has a personality of its own and The town of Poole’s Bay fills the tale with interesting secondary characters.

Ms Robert used her characteristic skill to weave a narrative that had me liking Sonya and her cohort of friends and friendly apparitions and curious to see where their adventures would lead. The thing that kept this from being a 5-star read was the cliffhanger ending. I am anxious for book 2!
