Birthquake is one of the rare books that everyone just needs to read. I don't care if your kids are grown, little, babies, or have fur - there is something here everyone can relate too.
The first part of Birthquake reads like a typical surprise pregnancy romance. You have a humorous meet cute, developing relationship, an then oops! After the "oops" this is honestly like nothing else I've ever read.
Yes, Henley and Jeff's relationship takes center stage, but there is also an element of self discovery and Henley standing up for herself and paving her own path. Incredibly well written, there were moments when Ms. Berry had me laughing, empathizing, annoyed (at certain secondary characters), and swooning. Brithquake is both sweet and very funny. It's also real - very few punches are pulled when it comes to Henley's experiences.
I think one of the things I appreciate most about this book is that it's a departure from what Ms. Berry normally writes. Her distinct voice is very much present, but it was wonderful to see her stretch her wings and so successfully stretch her wings.
