His regular moves won’t work here. He’s going to need a new plan, starting with helping her win over the man she thinks she wants. And if in the process she ends up falling for Hudson instead? Even better. Step one, charm her panties off. Step two, repeat step one as frequently as possible.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars - Average Read

After reading The Negotiator, I was looking forward to reading the follow up book. Hudson and Felicia's story in The Charmer was entertaining, but fell a little short of expectations.
I struggled a bit in connecting with both Hudson and Felicia. They were good characters with interesting back stories, but for some reason they just didn't click with me.
The Charmer is a bit of a My Fair Lady story and openly embraces that. The spin was part of what I liked about the book, but some of the execution is what I didn't like. Felicia's character is at times presented as the innocent "Eliza Doolittle" type character then that gets flipped around and her personality morphed when she and Hudson were intimate. It left me a little unsure as to who she really was.
There also seemed to be a lot of focus on Tyler, who I am assuming will be the star of the next Harbor City book. Some of it was necessary as he is the foil in the Felicia/Hudson situation, but some of the focus seemed to be more on setting up his story.
This was a good book, but just not what I had hoped for going in.
