This is a book that I almost forgot about it and that would have been horrible, because this is an amazing friends to lovers/marriage pact story!
Asher and Maeve have been friends for over 10 years and we’ve seen them tangentially in previous books, it was fun to see how things unfold.
Both Maeve and Asher have baggage that they bring to their “pact” and there were times when it was almost painful to see them get in their own way. Ms Blakely did a great job of making sure we knew the things that were important to both characters, especially their friendship.
Definitely a feel good story where we see true love grow from friendship along with personal growth for each character. Add in the stellar secondary cast and this is another winner for this series.

What a feel good read!
Olive returns to her home town to help her friend Katie. This puts her in the path of her past in the form of Katie’s brother, Noah.
Both Olive and Noah have truck loads of baggage. Some of it relates to their own history as friends, some is individual. It was interesting watching them work through all of this as they kept getting in their own way.
There is a lot going on here, but I appreciated the way Ms Shalvis layered the various pieces. We were given lots of opportunities to get to know Olive, Noah, and their supporting cast.
This was a great escape read. Both main characters are easy to relate to and root for. I enjoy the fact that the Sunrise Cove books are stand alone and loosely connected by the community.

There are some books that people just NEED to read. Not for escape or entertainment, but because we need to remember and do better as a people.
Released on the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, Family Behind The Walls tells the story of the Bergman family and what happened to them in the aftermath of the Hamburg bombings.
As always with Ms Ryan’s books around WWII, I learned things I did not know about what the Jewish and political prisoners experienced in territory controlled by the Third Reich during WWII.
These lessons and reminders are crucial so that we as a society don’t ever let this happen again. Young Lillie had a speech toward the end of the book - directed at retreating SS, that resonated with me, about never being able to outrun yourself.
Well written, Ms Ryan managed to make this impactful story one that you wanted to read as you root for the characters to find their freedom. I am grateful that the author continues to tackle this hard topic so that we will never forget.
