Wicked Wedding ~ Sawyer Bennett ~ Blog Tour

WickedWedding-SBPRBANNER-BT.jpg

Wicked Wedding, an all-new sexy standalone novel, from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Sawyer Bennett is available NOW!

WickedWeddingCoverBW
It all started with a wedding…
Well, three weddings, to be exact. The one that happened, the one that went up in flames, and the one nobody saw coming.
Andrew Collings has seen a lot of things living in Vegas. Hell, he’s done a lot of things. But one thing he’s never witnessed is a beautiful brunette, hitchhiking her way into the city, wearing a wedding dress. Until now, that is.
Brynne Adams is running away from a broken heart. She expected a lot of things from her wedding day but finding photos of her fiancĂ© and maid of honor and best man in a compromising position wasn’t one of them. She most certainly never imagined that she’d end up marrying the handsome stranger that rescued her from the side of the road that day.
Andrew and Brynne’s quick nuptials may have been the result of a drunken joke, but they soon realize that love can be found in the most unlikely of places if you just stop and take a chance.
* Wicked Wedding is the fourth STANDALONE NOVEL in the LEFT AT THE ALTAR series in a collaboration of six New York Times Bestselling Authors: J. S. Scott, Ruth Cardello, Raine Miller, Sawyer Bennett, Minx Malone, and Melody Anne.

Excerpt:
“Let me prop the door open and I’ll carry you over the threshold,” I tell Brynne as I press the keycard against the magnetic reader. She giggles, a sound I normally find grating on a grown woman, but on Brynne it’s charming. Her cheeks are flushed, and her eyes are still sparkling with energy.“Well, you are very Thor-like, so a girl would be crazy to refuse to be carried over the threshold by her husband.” That’s right. I’m her husband, but let’s rewind just a bit to detail how this all went down. It took me exactly fifteen minutes and three phone calls to set things up, just as I promised her. The first call was to the nicest, swankiest Vegas chapel that I could find with a Google search. I was advised we’d have to obtain a license at the Las Vegas Marriage Bureau for the low price of seventy-five dollars, and I wasn’t surprised in the least to learn it was open twenty-four hours a day on the weekends. I was able to arrange a limousine to pick us up, as well as an explosion of flowers within the chapel itself. When I gave my credit card number to the woman, I told her to go crazy on decor, but I specifically requested white calla lilies for the bride bouquet because Brynne told me those were her favorites. The second call was to a jeweler where I was able to purchase two very simple wedding bands in gold. It’s a detail I probably could have ignored considering we both knew this was just for fun, but fuck it. I’m rich, which means I have the ability to make this as nice as I can for Brynne. The third call was to my attorney, who explained annulment laws and assured me it was a fairly straightforward process. I’d have to institute the action—called a complaint—and if Brynne waives service, we can present our annulment request to the court to be approved after twenty days. It wasn’t immediate, but twenty days was nothing in the grand scheme of things. By the time we took a limo to the marriage bureau, stood in line for about thirty minutes with other like minded folks, and then made our way to the chapel, we’d sobered up quite a bit. “You sure you want to do this?” she asked me just before we went in.“I mean… it was a fun notion when we were a little more buzzed.” “Hell yes,” I’d told her with a devilish grin.“Mostly so we can send a picture to the whore and the asshole.” Her laugh was sparkling and beautiful and just a little evil, which made her infinitely more attractive to me.“It’s all in good fun with no risk,” I’d added on to assure her. So we went in, both of us grinning like fools during the ceremony. It felt fake, because it was fake, but in some respects, it’s the most real thing I’ve ever done. Because what we were doing had real purpose. It was to give Brynne and her glorious wedding dress a moment to shine. It became even more real when the minister—who was not dressed like Elvis, but was very dapper in a dark gray suit with an old-fashioned cravat tied at his neck—told us in a very cultured voice,“You may kiss the bride.” Fuck. I hadn’t thought about the kiss. I mean, I’d thought of kissing her because she’s sexy and vibrant and smiling despite the fact she was shit on hard today. But I hadn’t thought about the“wedding kiss”. Because even though this is all fake, somehow a man giving us formal permission to put our mouths together to seal our marriage vows makes it very fucking real. There was no hesitation. When my lips touched hers and she gave a tiny huff of pleasure, I realized I wanted to consummate this fake marriage very badly. I did not, however, know if Brynne felt the same. Because today would probably go down as the worst and weirdest of her life, I wasn’t going to push. Instead, I took her out for a radically expensive late dinner and then we hit a popular jazz club where we listened to music. And then it happened. A slow song was played. A bluesy number people just sort of sway to, and I asked her to dance with me. She accepted. It was Brynne who kissed me. Slid her delicate fingers into my hair, went to her tiptoes in her gray tennis shoes with teal-blue accents, and pressed her mouth to mine. My mind reeled, and my cock started to twitch to attention as we swayed and kissed. The words were forming in my mind on how best to invite her into my bed without sounding like an opportunistic douche, but then it didn’t matter. She pulled her mouth from mine, relaxing and tipping her head back to see me.“If we have sex tonight, does that ruin our chances of getting an annulment?” I had no fucking clue what the answer was. It had never crossed my mind I might actually get the chance to fuck her, so I didn’t ask my attorney. “Not that I know of,” I hedge. At least I didn’t flat-out lie to her. “Good,” she said with a smile.“Let’s go to my hotel room.”

I am so glad Andrew (from a previous Wicked Horse book) got his own story! He was a character I liked when I first met him, but fell a little bit in love with him here.
Brynne is a new character, but I loved getting to meet her too!
Well written and fun, this is a slightly sweeter version of the Wicked Horse books. Don't getting me wrong, this is still a very sexy book, but the couple never actually goes into the club. Starting with a wonderful meet cute and whirlwind romance this fast paced story is packed with romance and friendship.
Wicked Wedding is a quick read and technically a stand alone, but it would be a richer reading experience if Wicked Envy had been read first. This is an excellent addition to the Wicked Horse series and provides excellent resolution to a story line that left me wanting more from the previous book. Wicked Envy fans will also be glad to know that they will get a glimpse of Dane and Avril here as well.

Hot Winter Nights ~ Jill Shalvis ~ New Release & Review

In which our sexy hero wakes up with a woman in his bed and
no memory of how that happened. Did he miss the good stuff?

Hot Winter Nights
Heartbreaker Bay – Book 6
Jill Shalvis
Avon Books

Who needs mistletoe?

Most people wouldn’t think of a bad Santa case as the perfect Christmas gift. Then again, Molly Malone, office manager at Hunt Investigations, isn’t most people, and she could really use a distraction from the fantasies she’s been having since spending the night with her very secret crush, Lucas Knight. Nothing happened, not that Lucas knows that—but Molly just wants to enjoy being a little naughty for once . . .

Whiskey and pain meds for almost-healed bullet wounds don’t mix. Lucas needs to remember that next time he’s shot on the job, which may be sooner rather than later if Molly’s brother, Joe, finds out about them. Lucas can’t believe he’s drawing a blank on his (supposedly) passionate tryst with Molly, who’s the hottest, smartest, strongest woman he’s ever known. Strong enough to kick his butt if she discovers he’s been assigned to babysit her on her first case. And hot enough to melt his cold heart this Christmas . . .

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jill Shalvis writes warm, funny, sexy contemporary romances and women’s fiction. An Amazon, BN & iBooks bestseller, she’s also a two-time RITA winner and has more than 10 million copies of her books sold worldwide.

I've read the Heatbreaker Bay series from the beginning and I loved this installment.
Molly is a character that has been a fixture in the series and it was a pleasure to get to know her better in this book. Lucas fits the Shalvis hero mold of Alpha with a little sweet. These two are coworkers, with Lucas being partners and friends with Molly's brother, Joe.
Ms. Shalvis created a fun twist to the scenario by adding an element of mystery and intrigue. This let us get to know both Molly and Lucas as the stretched their boundaries and perceptions of each other and gave us a front row seat to their growing emotional connection.
This is the 6th book in the Heartbreaker Bay series, but it is very much a standalone. Ms. Shalvis has mastered the art of community building so that loyal readers are pleased to see previous couples, but new readers aren't lost or confused by the large secondary cast. Speaking of the secondary cast, the group here is a lot of fun. Lucas' family is a pleasure to get to know and their friends are supportive and funny as always.
Hot Winter Nights is book that will be a treat for loyal Shalvis readers and new fans alike. I am looking forward to seeing where this series is going next.

About the Author:
My name is Toni Aleo and I’m a total dork.
I am a wife, mother of two and a bulldog, and also a hopeless romantic.
I am the biggest Shea Weber fan ever, and can be found during hockey season with my nose pressed against the Bridgestone Arena’s glass, watching my Nashville Predators play!
When my nose isn’t pressed against the glass, I enjoy going to my husband and son’s hockey games, my daughter’s dance competition, hanging with my best friends, taking pictures, scrapbooking, and reading the latest romance novel.
I have a slight Disney and Harry Potter obsession, I love things that sparkle, I love the color pink, I might have been a Disney Princess in a past life… probably Belle.

Elizabeth's Review

My rating: 3 of 5 stars - Average Read

Review Copy Provided by Author

This is honestly a really hard review to write because I usually love anything Toni Aleo publishes and I loved the premise of this book. Unfortunately, for me, the execution fell a little flat.
The good:
The set up - I loved the idea of Delaney’s long time crush coming back to town and seeing what he was missing.
Reed’s emotional journey- I appreciated his growth as a character, becoming someone who could see past his blinders of the past
The cast- the secondary cast is a hoot!
The struggles:
Delaney- I’m sorry, but I really did struggle with the portrayal of the female lead. On one hand she’s described as a town laughing stock with anger issues, but she’s later described as the town sweetheart. This split personality seemed to follow her through the book and made it hard to connect with her.
The town- there are so many small town/small minded behaviors here that it’s hard to wrap my head around. Similar to my issue with Delaney, the town seemed to have dual personalities. One minute everything is prim and proper, the next everyone is openly discussing the fact that characters are being intimate with each other.
Reed/Delaney- from the way these two started out, it was hard to visualize the romantic relationship. I think it would have been helpful to see more of the friendship/relationship building vs how much they were together physically.
I know this makes it sound like I didn’t like the book at all, but that’s not true. I did like it and enjoy it, it just wasn’t the strong effort I have come to expect from Ms Aleo. It may be that this style/series just isn’t for me.

Four Star Reviews (New releases and a Group Read)

I had the privilege of reading advance copies for a couple of this week's new releases, but they didn't have spots on the blog schedule. I hope you enjoy them too! I am also part of a group read, but I am terrible at pacing myself, so you get to see my thoughts on that too!

ARC REVIEWS

Why Not Tonight (Happily Inc., #3)Why Not Tonight by Susan Mallery

My rating: 4 of 5 stars - Would Recommend to a Friend

Review Copy Provided by Author

This was a fun wrap up to the Mitchell Brothers books that have spanned the Fools Gold and Happily, Inc series. We get to know Ronan and Natalie (both secondary characters from previous books) better in this installment.
I enjoyed getting to spend time with them and seeing how being together made both of them better people. Ronan has a bigger emotional journey, one that has been building, but Natalie had her own issues to deal with.
This is an interconnected Stand-alone. It could be read by itself, but I do think the reader would benefit from reading the other Happily, Inc book first. The very active secondary cast have their stories continued here, so there are potential spoilers for people reading out of order.
This is well written (as expected) and fun, in especially liked Natalie’s character and her outlook on life is refreshing. Now that we have met all of the Mitchell brothers, I am curious to see what is next for the population of Happily, Inc.

Swagger (Milwaukee Dragons, #2)Swagger by Liz Lincoln

My rating: 4 of 5 stars - Would Recommend to a Friend

Review Copy Provided by Publisher via Net Galley

Where to start with the love for this book?
Smart, empowered female lead - check
Swoony, smart, sweet male lead - check
Diverse cast (on multiple levels) - check
Entertaining secondary cast - check
This is the second book in Ms Lincoln's Dragon series and my second read by her. I enjoyed the first book, but think this one might have been even better. Bree, the female lead for this story, is a physics grad student on the cusp of getting her PhD. I loved the premise of how she connected with Marcus (who just happens to be her favorite player on the Dragons). From their meet cute, to the interactions that lead to friendship to more, this was a couple that I enjoyed spending time with.
One of my favorite things about this book is that Ms Lincoln avoided the stereotypes for both athletes and physicist, maybe not completely, but for the most part. We saw Marcus striving to complete his degree and Bree having a social life and enjoying other pursuits besides just school. We also got to see that for both characters there are challenges that maybe wouldn't be expected.
What helped seal this has a 4 star read for me was the fact that Ms Lincoln also avoided what could have been considered an obvious conflict (or two) and instead focused on making sure that her lead characters could see just how much they valued each other as people/friends/lovers.
I was encouraged after reading the first Dragon's book, but after reading this book, this is a series I am very excited to see move forward.

TBR/Group Read

Some Sort of Happy (Happy Crazy Love, #1)Some Sort of Happy by Melanie Harlow

My rating: 4 of 5 stars - Would Recommend to a Friend

From my TBR

I love this series and the fact that the hero’s are not “perfect” and have atypical baggage.
I enjoyed Sky and Sebastian’s journey from reconnecting (10 years post high school) to developing a real relationship. The time they spent together seemed to be good for both of them and I appreciated the growth in their characters.
One of the things I enjoyed most was that Ms Harlow took the time to try and understand the issues Sebastian was dealing with and how they impacted his life. It truly felt that we were in his shoes at times and made me root for him and Sky that much more.
This is a book that has been on my TBR for a long time - I am so glad a group read came a long to nudge it to the top of the list. I had been missing out on a really great story.

A career he once thought he could only dream of, surrounded by people who show him that family and home aren’t simply words.
And a girl who shows him the greatest, most complex code he could ever write.
Love.
We spent the entire day together. I worked on the system, with Becca acting as my assistant. More than once, she rose up on her toes for a kiss. More than once, I had her pressed to the wall, devouring her mouth. It was the best install I had ever done.
“You are such a good kisser,” she murmured against my mouth. “How can a virgin be so good at kissing?”
Pleased she was enjoying my caresses, I grinned. “I have kissed girls and women, but, as I said, I haven’t gone beyond that.” I cupped her face, dragging my lips across her cheek to her sensitive earlobe. “I was waiting for the right person.”
“And I’m that person?”
“Yes,” I stated with conviction, dropping another kiss to her mouth. “You are.” I ran my fingers over my lips, then grabbed my drill.
“Why do you do that?”
“Do what?”
“You press your fingers on your mouth every time we kiss.”
“Oh, ah…” I stalled, looking over her shoulder. I felt heat prickle my neck.
“Tell me,” she insisted. “I want to know.”
“I like how it feels when you kiss me. I guess I’m sort of sealing you into me. Keeping your taste locked into my mouth.”
She stared at me, blinking and silent.
“Is that weird? It’s weird. I’m sorry.”
I wasn’t prepared when she launched herself at me. The drill flew one way; we hit the wall behind me, a mass of entangled arms and legs, her mouth on mine, hard and passionate. I slid down the wall to the floor, taking her with me. She was ferocious in her intensity, her kisses deep and possessive.
“You say the most erotic words,” she groaned. “Sealing my taste into you?”
“So, not weird?” I moaned as she kissed her way down my neck.
“No, not weird.” She hovered over me, her dark hair falling like a waterfall around us. “You turn me on like no man has ever done, Reid. Ever.” She kissed me again.
I was good with that.

I think this is the sweetest installment of the BAM boys! Reid is a character that has been in all of the first 3 books and while we know him, we don’t get to know his full story until we meet him here.
I loved Reid and Becca from the very beginning and their mutual pursuit of each other was adorable. Reid is very much a BAM guy in that his past plays a part in his decision making process, sometimes to his detriment.
As with the entire series, Reid is very well written and entertaining and I was sad to see the story end. This is a stand-alone book, but is very much interconnected with the first three stories. Having read the whole series would greatly add to the enjoyment of this book.
