It seems the things worth keeping are often the hardest to hold... KAI
I had two things in life that mattered. My mother and my music. Mama was taken from me too soon, and now music is all I have left. It’s the thing that’s pushed me right out of backwoods Georgia into Los Angeles, where the line between fantasy and reality shimmers and blurs. I’m finally making my way, making my mark. I can’t afford to fall for one of music's brightest stars. Not now. Music is all I have left, and I’m holding on tight with both hands. I won’t let go, not even for Rhyson Gray.
RHYSON
I had one thing in my life that mattered – music. The only constant, it’s taken me to heights most people only dream about; a gift dropped in my lap at birth. I thought it was enough. I thought it was everything until I met Kai. Now she’s all I think about, like a song I can't get out of my head. If I have to chase her, if I have to give up everything - I will. And once she's mine, I won't let go.

How does your mind move on from someone your soul can't seem to forget? How can your heart resist a love that never fully came to be?
Ten years. It's been ten years since Hailee saw Corwin Rogers. In person that is, because despite their lack of physical contact, Corwin's gorgeous face has plagued her dreams all this time. In its most idle hours of the night, her mind always reverts back to the image of the teenage boy she loved in secret years ago. They were classmates for four years, forging a limited friendship within school grounds and occasional parties, but they also shared a unique bond over their struggles. Hailee never told him how she felt, and she wasn't sure if the feelings were reciprocated, but she always wondered. How could she not when he shared so much of himself with her and only her? Seeing him a decade after their high school graduation presents the two with another fateful opportunity to be everything for one another. Hailee starts to consider that her inexplicable dreams actually mean something, and that her ties to Corwin are stronger than she ever allowed herself to believe. But after years of separation, their chance at happiness is challenged by secrets from their time apart. When the truth emerges, colliding pasts and futures, Hailee and Corwin have to decide if they truly are perfectly aligned.

“Hailee? Is that you?” he asked in a shaky voice, as though he couldn’t trust the sight before him. Corwin’s deep voice sounded loudly in my ears despite the coolness it carried. It sounded the same, yet different. Its tone and husk reminded me of all our past moments, of the way I would rise and also fall apart when he called my name all those years ago. But it also possessed an unfamiliar maturity and maleness that made blood rush into my cheeks and heat reach my ears. With my heart racing, I realized I had no choice but to turn around and see him. “Hey!” I said as I turned around and met those same olive eyes that haunted my idle mind at night. My tone implied that I was oblivious to who was behind me, but my heart knew. It was beating harshly, banging against my lungs so convulsively it made my chest ache and breathing short. He looked even better up close, and his smile grew wide upon visually confirming that it was indeed Hailee Samuels he was speaking to. College had certainly changed him. His life during our time apart had shaped him into the man before me, one I didn’t know, but badly wanted to. Muscles drew lines across his taut shirt with short sleeves that revealed a peek at his sturdy biceps. Faint stubble lined his sharp jaw making him seem more dangerous and beautiful than the clean-shaven boy I remembered. Corwin’s dark brown hair was longer and straight, pointing in all directions, and it made me wonder if it was something he worked on meticulously or if it was a perfect, sexy bed-head he simply woke up with. I became aware that time was passing in silence as we both took each other in. “It is you,” he whispered, his eyes opening wide. “It’s been years. How are you?” Surprising me, he came in for a hug before I could protest. Of course, I was sticky and sweaty, and he smelled wonderful, like evergreen trees covered in dewy raindrops. I missed the new scent the second he pulled away. “Yeah,” I said, feeling inept. “It’s been almost ten years. I’m great. How are you doing?” “Great. I moved back home two months ago and live about twenty minutes from here. Are you local?” While he awaited my response, Corwin studied me. He looked at me from head to toe, glancing up and down repeatedly with a tenacious intensity. His eyes trailed over my tight yoga pants and fitted top, making me blush even though I was proud of my physique. I wasn’t offended by him looking at me. Actually, it was fantastic, and my enthusiastic acceptance of it was certainly a side effect of my dream from that morning. Even then I felt turned on just by his gaze, only to have it fueled by his next words. “You look incredible … like, really good.” He spit it out before I could answer his question and coughed after as if the words had forced themselves from his throat. I didn’t think it was possible for my cheeks to burn more. “Thanks …” I mumbled with a sudden shyness. “I live in Shoreline, so yeah, I’m local.” “That’s great. I’m so glad to see you.” His voice sounded genuine and filled with interest. Corwin looked me in the eyes and held my gaze. He seemed lost in so many thoughts, piquing my curiosity and I blinked a few times before he caught himself staring. Then he added, “Listen, I have to go see my dad, but I’d love to catch up for lunch or something soon.” “Yeah, that’d be great,” I said, trying not to take him too seriously, but allowing my intrigue to get the best of me. I couldn’t help but be curious as to what that man from my dreams and the boy from my past had been up to all those lost years. “Here, give me your number and I’ll call you so we can figure something out.” He was serious, handing me his phone so I could punch my number in. When I handed it back, he called me immediately so that I’d have his contact information on mine. Or perhaps he was testing to see if I gave him my actual number, because when my phone rang in my purse he smiled as if filled with relief. Corwin pulled me in for another hug, one I permitted myself to savor, and then he rushed off. Squinting back once more before leaving the market, his expression demonstrated complete disbelief at our encounter; I felt rather the same. He left me clutching my sunflowers and wondering if that had really just happened. In the four years I knew and adored him, he’d never asked for my phone number, and after my dream and that meeting, I had no control over thinking about him for the rest of the day.

 About Stephanie Alba

StephanieAlba
Stephanie Alba has wanted to write for as long as she can remember. Writing was always a way to express herself, as well as an escape. In August of 2014, Stephanie decided to start writing a story that she dreamed about. At first it was just something fun for her to do, a way of keeping her sanity during her first year as a stay at home mom. Over the months she couldn’t stop writing and that’s where For Both Are Infinite came along. Rhys and Ellie’s story was hard work, but it allowed her to fulfill the goal she’d always had of writing a novel. Before becoming an indie author, Stephanie taught high school English. Now she is a stay at home mom to the happiest baby ever, a wife to an amazing husband, and a graduate school student. She also hopes to continue writing. When she’s not glued to her laptop or with a notebook in her hand, she’s swimming, running, reading or chasing her toddler. Stephanie is currently working on her second novel, a friends to lovers story set in Washington state. It is set to release during fall 2015. She also plans on writing more of Ellie and Rhys’ story, as well as stories focusing on other characters you meet in For Both Are Infinite.

I groan as I open the car door and pull my body to standing. I rub my eyes, so happy I ditched the contacts and shake out my legs before going to the trunk to pull out my go-bag. Every vehicle I own (even the boat and four-wheelers) has a small duffel bag stashed somewhere in them. They contain cash, clothes, one day of rations (beef jerky and a flask of Jameson, don’t give me too much credit), and a new identity.

The identity I probably won’t need just yet, but I do need the set of clothes. My suit jacket was lost to some poor male patron with a gut shot, and my pants and shirt are ruined by some lady’s blood and the remnants of what I did to Thad during his interrogation. I feel guilty for not using the Morganite knife and killing him for real since I know he’ll heal in the next couple of days. My only solace is that it will take a few days to regrow his whole fucking head.

Dick.

I knew I shouldn’t have gone to my stupid exhibit. I swear it’s the last time I let Evan talk me into anything.

I mean it this time.

Rhys has been quiet most of the drive, and it’s a blessing because I have no idea what to say to him. But it’s a curse as well due to the barbed guilt running through my veins. I’ve spent little time with him that hasn’t included me trying to rip him limb from limb, so a conversation might be impossible. I’m also a little disturbed having him so close hasn’t been the hardship I thought it would be. He’s been quiet, considerate, and he pumped the gas when we stopped because me getting out of the car would have caused a stir.

We both get out of the car and walk to the trunk, which I’ve popped with the key fob.

“You want me to carry that?” he asks, chivalrously reaching past me to lift my duffel out of the trunk. The bastard. I really wish he’d cooperate and be an asshole so I could hate him appropriately. I grind my teeth together in an attempt to avoid screaming and give a jerky nod, letting him take the bag. It takes some effort, but I gently close my trunk, careful not to hurt my baby even though I want to smash something.

I stride towards the front door behind Rhys, vigilantly trying not to stomp my feet and pout like a Goddamn toddler. My anger only grows when I notice how fucking spectacular he looks in a suit. Holy shit balls. He’s easily six foot three, maybe taller. I’m five-three on a good day, so he’s at least an entire foot taller than me. The crisp dark charcoal gray suit emphasizes the wideness of his shoulders and the line of his body as it flows from his strong neck to his lean waist and tight ass. People I hate are not supposed to be this fucking hot in a suit.

Excerpt

“Go away, Evans. I’m talking this nice girl.” This prick has no idea how close I am to snapping or what Abby means to me. The way Brad says ‘girl’, combined with the obvious ‘fuck off so I can get laid’ look in his eyes, seals Brad’s fate. Blinded by rage, I pull back my arm and drill my fist right into his smug face. “Fuck!” Brad cries out. He touches his mouth to find his lip split open and bleeding. “Oh my god, Hawke! What is your problem?” Abby shouts. I move to punch the bastard again, but Abby steps between us, grabbing my hand. “Stop!” “Move,” I hiss, shooting a murderous glare over Abby’s shoulder at Brad, who is still holding his hand up to his mouth. The rest of the room has gone silent, everyone stopping to stare at the disruption, eager to watch a good fight. Dax must have either left or is holed up in his room with Kate, otherwise he’d be right in the middle of things, using his enormous muscles and underground fighting skills to put an end to the confrontation. “Don’t,” Abby begs, forcing me to look at her by stepping into my line of sight. When I meet her eyes, shimmering with tears and betrayal, all of the rage I felt for Brad turns into frustration with Abby for drinking and putting herself in the situation with Brad to begin with. “Leave,” I bark at Brad, pointing at the front door. Before she can protest, I grab Abby’s wrist and haul her to my room. She stumbles behind me on her high heels. Using my foot, I slam the door shut with a bang. “Ouch, Hawke!” Abby twists out of my hold, turning to glare at me. “What is your problem?” “My problem?” I shout. “I’m not the one getting drunk and letting Brad piece-of-shit Vargas touch my ass!” Her mouth drops open and her eyes bulge. “Are you kidding me right now?” I step forward, crowding her in a corner of the tiny space I share with Gavin. “Oh, I’m far from fucking kidding, Abby. He’s a slimy douchebag who wants nothing more than to get you drunk and fuck you.” “So what? It’s none of your business who I sleep with!” Abby puts her hands on her hips and scowls. It’s almost adorable, until she continues her rant, going straight for the jugular. “I don’t say anything about the whores you bang every night!” Anger, shame, raging desire—they all battle inside my chest, clashing until they detonate in a huge fireball of uncontrollable emotions. “I don’t want them!” I shout, my hands going to my hair, fisting huge hunks. I step closer, Abby’s back now pressed against the bathroom door. I lean forward, dropping my hands to cage her in on either side of her head. Her breathing picks up and I drop my gaze to drag up her sinful body, ending at her heart-stopping eyes. “Don’t you get it, Abby?” My voice lowers as I finally confess what I’ve held inside for too long. “I don’t want Brad touching you. I don’t want anyone touching you! I want you. You’re mine.” Abby gasps, either in shock at my declaration, or with desire. I don’t wait to find out because at that moment, I lean closer, letting my hips press against hers so she can feel exactly how much I want her. Abby’s eyes fall to my mouth, her thick lashes fluttering against flushed skin. When her pink tongue darts out to lick her lips, any remaining willpower I possessed dissolves into nothingness. I tilt my head to see if that mouth tastes as sweet as she smells, but Abby holds me back with a hand to my chest. A fist squeezes around my heart. Of course she doesn’t want me. Why would she? I’m a fucked up mess and she knows it. Abby inhales a shaky breath, drawing my attention back to her eyes once more. “What’s your real name?” she asks. “What?” I pull my brows together. “Your real name. I… I don’t want my first time to be with someone whose name I don’t know,” she whispers, her cheeks blazing red with embarrassment. I huff out a laugh. “Henry. It’s Henry Walker Evans.” “Like Gavin Walker?” I shake my head. “No relation.” “Henry,” she says, smiling as she trails her trembling fingers up my chest, over my collarbone, to wrap around the back of my neck. “Kiss me, Henry.” Without hesitation, I lift my hands from the door to cup her flushed cheeks, letting my full weight press against her body. Abby’s tongue darts out to wet her lips, sending a rush of blood straight to my groin. I groan in pleasure. “God, I’ve been wanting to do this forever.” Before she can answer, I lean in and our mouths connect. Abby melts against the door, her muscles going limp, allowing me to control the kiss. When I slide my tongue against the seam of her lips, she lets out a throaty moan that vibrates all the way to my toes. Her mouth parts on a soft exhale, the sound sending little sparks of electricity dancing across my skin. I’m so turned on, so desperate to taste and feel every part of her, that my brain turns off and instinct takes over. Primal, animal instinct to possess, to claim, to make her mine. I step forward, putting one foot between hers to kick her feet apart. Once there’s enough room to maneuver, I push my stiff dick against the junction of her thighs. Abby gasps and comes to life. The girl who was content to be passively carried along through our kiss, threads her fingers through my hair and grips tight. The streak of pain across my scalp shreds my last vestiges of rational thought. Panting, I break away, dizzily gulping down oxygen. “Off. Now.” I grab the hem of her silky tank top and yank it over her head, revealing two perfect, round breasts supported by a lacy white bra. “Fuck.” I palm my hard-on through my way too tight jeans, the ache nearly unbearable. Abby stares at me, her eyes wild, pupils dilated. Desire has put crimson streaks on her cheekbones and turned her throat and chest a deep shade of pink. “Your turn,” she says, clawing at the bottom of my own T-shirt. I reach over my head to pull it off, but hesitate when my fingers grip the material. The scars. I’ve haven’t had sex with anyone without a shirt on since the accident, usually not even getting my pants all the way off. It’s always been quick backroom hook-ups or blow jobs. My pulse races, fear overtaking desire, pricking my skin uncomfortably. “Henry.” Abby caresses my cheek, her thumb brushing across the silver stud in my bottom lip. “I don’t care. I want you, all of you. You’re perfect the way you are.” Our eyes lock, and I know she’s telling the truth. This is Abby. I can trust her. She skims her hands down my ribcage, hooking her fingers into the waist of my jeans. In a bold move, Abby tugs me forward and arches her back off the door, grinding against my aching cock. I nod, knowing right now, I’ll give her whatever she wants. I fist the collar of the shirt and pull it over my head, balling it up in my hands between us, using it as my final shield. Without breaking eye contact, Abby covers my hands with her own and slowly removes my fingers, taking the shirt from me. She tosses it to the ground, blue eyes still fixed on mine. Abby slides her hands around my waist and I flinch. “Don’t be afraid,” she murmurs, skimming her hands up my torso, her fingers exploring every inch. They brush across my abs to my chest, where she gently flicks her thumbs across my nipples. “I’m not. I know you’ll take care of me.” “Jesus, Abby.” My head lolls back from the pleasure of her touch. Abby winds her hands behind my head and pulls my mouth back to hers. Our tongues slide together, wet and hot and so fucking perfect. She stops to catch her breath, fumbling with the button on her own jeans. As I stare, entranced, Abby shoves down her pants and underwear and reaches behind her to unsnap her bra, letting it slide down her arms to the floor. She’s so beautiful, I stop breathing to stare at her naked body, snapping out of it only when she speaks. “Make love to me, Henry.”

Elizabeth's Review

3.5 Stars - Worth a Reader's Time

Review Copy provided by Author

Heather Leigh is a newer author for me - this is actually only the second book of her's that I have read - so I went in to this book without really knowing what to expect.
In Wreck, we follow the story of Hawke, the drummer for Sphere of Irony. We first meet him in high school and get a glimpse of what haunts him. We catch up with him 4 years later when the band is on the cusp of stardom, and then again 7 years later when the rest of the band members are settled down. Abby has her own baggage to deal with when she meets and falls in love with the young Hawke. We see them struggle with their demons as young people then again when they reconnect.
This is a well written book and does a great job of giving us glimpses into the struggles Hawke is going through and how his actions impact everyone around him. Hawke is a character that you can't help but feel for and love just a little. He openly acknowledges his failings and is incredibly hard on himself, you really just want to give him a hug. While this is a story of Hawke's romance with Abby, it's also a story about the push and pull between these two and the damage that can be done by unresolved issues. It is also a story about redemption and finding your own happy ending before trying to be happy with someone else.
I enjoyed Hawke and Abby's story and want to go back and read the first 2 books in the Sphere of Irony series to get to know Dax and Adam better.

Heather C Leigh

Heather C. Leigh is the author of the Amazon best selling Famous series. She likes to write about the 'dark' side of fame. The part that the public doesn't get to see, how difficult it is to live in a fishbowl and how that affects relationships. Heather was born and raised in New England and currently lives outside Atlanta, GA with her husband, 2 kids, and French Bulldog, Shelby. She loves the Red Sox, the Patriots, and anything chocolate (but not white chocolate, everyone knows it's not real chocolate so it doesn't count) and has left explicit instructions in her will to have her ashes snuck into Fenway Park and sneakily sprinkled all over while her family enjoys beer, hot dogs, and a wicked good time.

Excerpt
“Someone’s dogging ya,” Kidd says as he nods behind me. I can hear my name being called, but I don’t want to look because he’s likely up to something. The fact that my name is being called means nothing, since the kids are always trying to get us to sign things, give them a bat during the game or even look at them. It was a thrill when it happened to me so I know what it’s like to get attention from your favorite player, let alone any player. “Just a fan, I’m assuming,” I say, shrugging him off and focusing on Mackenzie’s at bat. He shakes his head and starts laughing. “A super fan,” he says, nodding behind me again. “You might want to turn around.” “You might want to pay attention to the game. Mackenzie could hit a foul ball and smack you in the tallywacker.” “Jesus Davenport, just turn the hell around.” I roll my eyes and finally give in, but only halfheartedly. I look over my left shoulder and see no one calling me and over my right to find the same thing. “Don’t know what you’re talking about.” Kidd swings the bat a few times before he stops because Mackenzie has a hit and is now on first base. “Turn all the way around, Davenport. Stop being a bitch.” I do as he says and I’m met with a pair of green eyes that I have burnt into my memory. She’s sitting behind our dugout in the center seat. She stands and points to her shirt. The front of it says, “I’m sorry”. I can’t help the stupid ass grin that is plastered all over my face. I lean forward, resting my hands on the edge of the dugout. “Are you busy after the game?” “No,” Daisy says with a smile. “You are now,” I say, not caring that I’m probably jumping the gun and assuming she wants to see me. It’s not a guess; I know she does. “Stay right there and I’ll come get you when the game is over.” Before I know it, we’re on the Jumbo Tron with hearts all around our picture. She covers her face and I turn back to the game, only to turn around and wave my hat at the section she’s in. They roar with cheers and start chanting my name. We win, nine to one. I had a few more base hits and some RBI’s to add to our run count. Every Renegade player had at least one base hit. It’s odd when that happens, but we take it and run with it when it does. As soon as I enter the clubhouse the reporters are there. They call my name and instead of going to them, they come over to me and shove their microphones into my face as soon as I sit down. “Ethan, you made a pretty big display of affection today during the game. Do you care to tell us about your girlfriend?” “Yeah, sure,” I say, running my hand through my hair. “I’ve been in love with her for as long as I can remember. She means everything to me.” Suddenly their microphones are even more in my face. “What’s her name?” “Baseball!” I wish I had a camera at this exact moment so I can capture their expressions as they all deadpan at my answer. They’re stupid if they think I’m going to say anything about Daisy. We have a long road ahead of us and the last thing we need is the media hounding us. I do enough stupid shit that brings us plenty of attention. We don’t need any more. The reporters don’t like me much after that answer, not that I can blame them. Kidd punches me in the shoulder and winks at me. Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00074]

Elizabeth's Review

4.5 Stars – One of the best books I’ve Read

Review Copy provided by Author

I literally just finished Live Me and the emotional impact of the book required chocolate AND wine. I’m struggling a little bit with what to tell you about this book because I was honestly blown away….
Let’s start with the fact that this is a DEBUT novel. If I had not known that going in, I would be scrounging around looking for Ms. Grande’s backlist because Live Me was that good – I automatically want to look for more from the author.

Live Me focuses on Eva and Blake, college students living in New York City. We know at the beginning of the book that something bad has happened to Eva and she is struggling, but we don’t know all the details. We also know that Blake is attracted to her from the second they meet and he is DETERMINED. Blake is a character that you fall in love with from the moment you meet him. Guys in general can seriously take lessons from this guy about how to be sweet and romantic. For a big chunk of the story he seems too good to be true, but there are just enough glimpses of “normal” that you can like him. Eva is harder to get a grasp on and there are lots of times I wanted to tell her to get over herself and see where things with Blake were going.

There is a push/pull that happens between Blake and Eva and just when it looks like things might go well for them, demons from Eva’s past rear their head. My frustration with Eva reached a peak here because it felt like she was sabotaging her own chance at happiness. Ms. Grande takes readers on a roller coaster with these two characters and when you get to the end of the ride, you automatically want to go again.

My one complaint – Blake and Eva don’t seem like college students to me. There are some aspects where they are very much college students, but their emotional maturity (especially Blake’s) would lend me to expect someone older than 20 or 21. There are some other factors that also seemed out of sync with the college environment, but those issues didn’t detract from the story. Overall, this is a novel that I would have been impressed with no matter who wrote it. Factor in the fact that it is a debut and that makes the impact of the work even more extraordinary. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Grande has for us next.

What Leary starts, he’ll finish—in the courtroom, the bedroom, or any-damn-place he wants. The sex is uninhibited, electrifying, and absolutely against the rules. Synopsis: Levi Black is an s.o.b.
Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he’s a pretentious, obnoxious, womanizing jacka** who thinks the world revolves around him. He wouldn’t be wrong. A famous soccer player, his skills on and off the field have won him medals, trophies, women, and the cover of every heartthrob magazine in the country. He’s broken nearly every bone in his body and a few hearts along the way, including mine—his stepsister—and lived to tell about it. One night changed everything, and I’ve avoided him like the plague ever since. Just long enough to finish college, to bury the hurt, and to outrun the memories. But now that’s all changed. I’m back, and there’s no more running. My hands are supposed to be my livelihood, but now they’re my curse. Levi’s reckless ways have landed him in a sticky situation, and his father has given me an offer I can’t refuse. One month, and all I have to do is put my hands on his body. Easier said than done. The problem is, even though I know it’s bound to bite me in the a**, I can’t bring myself to say no to the s.o.b.

EXCERPT

Holy shit. I don’t know if I can do this. Vista is a problem. My problem. Having her here, in my home, is going to change everything. Who am I kidding? It already has. But it doesn’t have to, a voice in my head whispers. One month. That’s all I have to get through, and then my life can return to normal. I can go back to pretending she doesn’t exist, doesn’t matter. One month. I repeat the words in my head until they’re keeping time with the beat of my heart. They’re my new mantra. One month. One month. Piece of cake. Now all I have to do is believe the lie. “Unless you’ve developed an unhealthy attraction to stairs I don’t know about, quit staring into space and get over here, jackass,” Vincent calls out. “I’m not a one man circus. Help me keep these bitches entertained.” The women gasp as if offended by Vincent’s crassness, but they’re not. They are bitches, and they know it. Hell, they’ve made it an art. It’s what makes them attractive to men—being unattainable. Except to me. Being who I am, women like them are a dime a dozen, which grew boring ten minutes ago. I stare up at the empty staircase for a moment longer before kicking a crutch out behind me and twisting around to join the party with the realization that choking down the lie is going to be damn near impossible. I can’t ignore the hollow ache in my stomach that’s formed from just seeing her any more than I can ignore the throbbing pulse that’s demanding attention in my jeans. Vista Marquis thinks a few stairs can keep me from getting to her? Then she doesn’t really know me. I can obtain anything I want. I’m Levi-fucking-Black, and just like my father, I make shit happen.
