Dianne Duvall ~ Shadows Strike and On The Hunt

Dianne Duvall has had a very busy month! She not only released the sixth brand new installment to the Immortal Guardians series, Shadows Strike, but she was only part of the On the Hunt anthology with Immortal Guardians 5.5, Phantom Embrace.

The Immortal Guardians protect the innocent in secret. Sometimes the secret gets out... U.S. law enforcement agent Heather Lane can read minds. But not the future. The dream of battle and blood that recurs every night must be a fluke, some obscure terror from her own mind. What its significance might be, she can’t guess: an attack from seven psychotic vampires at once, only separated from nightmare by an eighth very different immortal. A handsome, brave man fighting at her side, a man she misses when she wakes. Then the dream comes true. Heather is flung into a war between predators and protectors of humanity, the man from her dreams beside her again. Except now that she’s awake, she isn’t sure she can trust Ethan, or the shadow organization he represents. The U.S. military doesn’t trust either of them. But against an onslaught of evil like the one that’s coming, it will take everything they have just to survive...
Four of today’s most intriguing paranormal authors entice readers deep into the shadows, where vampires, immortals, and other supernatural creatures heat up the night...
ON THE HUNT by Alexandra Ivy: Mika Tanner has loved Bailey Morrell, a beautiful Healer, since childhood. But his duty as a Sentinel, a supernatural guardian of an ancient race, clashed with her rebellious spirit. Now a dangerous new anarchist group not only threatens life as they know it—but any chance of their being together again...
SCORPIUS RISING by Rebecca Zanetti :While searching for a meteorite, Nora Mendina is arrested by her sheriff ex-husband—who's only gotten hotter than the Nevada desert since she last saw him. When the meteorite breaks open, the few survivors gain extraordinary powers, unleashing a crazed super genius killer. Can Nora and her ex stop the murders…while igniting a new love affair?
PHANTOM EMBRACE by Dianne Duvall :Immortal Yuri Sokolov was born with the ability to see spirits, yet he's never seen one as lovely as Cat Seddon, the woman who haunts his home and his dreams. But amid their star-crossed love, a new danger may have Yuri facing a different kind of eternity.
STAKE OUT by Hannah Jayne: Vampire fashion designer Nina LaShay has a lot on her plate—just two days until fashion week and the model who was flirting with her photographer boyfriend is now a corpse in her studio. But when dead turns into undead and dangerous, Nina must find out who’s responsible…before the beautiful baby vamp takes too many bites out of the Big Apple.

Stay With Me ~ Eleanor Green ~ Quick Review

Eleanor Green is a very new author for me. I recently read  Wait for Me and loved it, so I did something I rarely do - I pre-ordered the conclusion, Stay With Me. The stars lined up just right and I started reading Stay With Me this morning, I never dreamed I'd be finished already, so keep going to see what I thought...

From the author of TORN and WAIT FOR ME Their love was strong, forged by a lifetime of friendship and longing. The action packed sequel to Wait for Me picks up where the first book left off. Finally crossing the line from friendship to lovers, Briley and Cooper can begin their happily ever after together. The contents of an envelope, however, lead the new lovers down a dangerous road, threatening to destroy everything. Will Briley and Cooper’s love be strong enough to withstand new revelations? Find out as the epic conclusion unfolds. With a dual point of view and twists you won’t see coming, Stay with Me answers the questions left lingering since these two characters were introduced. STAY WITH ME is a steamy full-length, contemporary romance. This is book two in the LoveStruck Series.

Elizabeth's Review

4 Stars - Would Recommend to a Friend
Stay With Me picks up exactly where Wait for Me left off and while it continues Briley and Cooper's love story, it is also a completely different story. To be honest, I wondered where Briley and Cooper would go after the angst filled journey it took for them to get together. At first, Stay With Me isn't a big surprise and it is fun to see our two friends enjoying their new relationship status. Just when we think happy ever after is pretty much in the bag, life throws these two a gigantic curve ball and watching them deal with the fall out is an edge of your seat event. I loved that the conflict in the story was something so unexpected and that the story definitely took a road less traveled. The emotions in the story seem to pull you in and you go through the highs and lows with both characters. There were even a couple of "please tell me that didn't just happen" moments that had me wondering if I was going to be really annoyed with the author, but everything worked out wonderfully and the story had a great ending. You could probably read Stay With Me on it's own, but I would definitely suggest reading Wait For Me first so that you have all of the back story for Briley and Cooper.

Caged Series Tour ~ Shay Savage

Liam & Tria’s gritty love story concludes in RELEASED!

AVAILABLE NOW
Released (Book Three) Caged Series
Barnes & Noble: http://bit.ly/1D2xeFY

Oblivion is a sweet, sweet place. No pain. No disturbing thoughts of the past. No guilt from my recent actions. Deep down, there is still a part of me that knows how screwed up I am. I don’t see a way out, not now. Tria’s gone, and the possibility of her forgiving me in my current state is exactly zero. I know I have to pull myself together, accept my responsibilities, and try to make amends, but I have no idea where to start. No job. No apartment. I’m living on the streets with the other junkies. As little as I had to offer Tria before, I have nothing to give her now. The only way out is to come clean and tell Tria the truth about my past, but the idea of reliving the memories is so painful, I can’t think about it long enough to figure out a solution. I’ve hit rock bottom, and I don’t even know which way is up any more.

Excerpt #1

I reached out and touched the edge of the pillow. It was insanely soft and warm. I stroked it, and images of Tria’s breasts crawled through my head, making me smile. I stroked my cock as I thought about her, but I couldn’t come. I could hear a voice in the other room, but it didn’t concern me, so I didn’t move. Through heavy eyelids, I watched the piles of dirty laundry all over the floor. I found shapes of animals in the patterns, just like cloud pictures. “The beans are gone.” I rolled my head to the side and looked up at Krazy Katie’s face. I smiled and tried to say something, but my tongue wasn’t cooperating. I focused on her eyes as they stared down at me quizzically. “Trains need an engineer,” Krazy Katie said. “It’s okay,” I said. My tongue still felt weird, all numb and heavy. I twisted it around in my mouth, and it tickled my teeth. I blinked a couple of times before looking back at my neighbor. “I got the helm. I’m all good.” Did trains have a helm, or was that just boats? I laughed. Krazy Katie covered her eyes with one hand. I could see her chest rising and falling as she took long breaths. I started counting slowly in my head but quickly forgot the number. “Left the station,” she said quietly. “No engineer. Kicked in the caboose. Nothing but tracks.” She turned in slow motion, and I watched vapor trails of her dull blue T-shirt swirl around the room as she left. I heard the window slide shut and then silence. “I’m all good,” I whispered. There was no reply. Even though my arms and legs were way too content to be bothered with moving, I shoved myself out of bed anyway. My rig was sitting on the kitchen table, all ready to go. I was still pretty high, but I could feel darkness closing in around me, and I didn’t want it. I wanted warmth and happiness. Plastic tube, arm slap, needle prick. “Like a fucking pro.” I lay my head on the table as the fluid sensations rippled through me. Tria didn’t matter. She’d forgive me in time. In fact, she was probably already over it. How could she not be? “I’m good. Really, I am.” I was never one to lie to myself, but it was getting easier all the time.

Excerpt #2

I watched Yolanda walk out of the cage. Apparently, I kept looking in her direction too long. I took a blow to the head before I realized the fight had started. I stumbled back, shook my head, and regained my footing. I raised my fists up in front of my face, and danced lightly on my toes, waiting for his next move. We circled slowly, jabbing but not finding our marks. My head swam again. I needed to put an end to this. I needed to get it over with so I could take my winnings and get more smack. I had come down too hard and too fast. I had to get straight again. I rushed him, striking out with my right and then my left. I took an elbow to the face, and felt my neck snap back. The next thing I knew, I was on my back, and the guy was straddling my chest. I registered my head being thrown from side to side with punches, but I couldn’t focus enough to get him off me. I jabbed at his sides, but it was ineffective. With my head spinning, I slammed my hand against the ground three times. “Woo hoo!” The challenger jumped off of me and started running around the small cage. I could hear cheers, boos, and people screaming at me, but I couldn’t comprehend the words. I rolled over and pushed myself up before stumbling out of the cage. “Jesus, Liam!” Back in the locker room, Yolanda fussed around the cut over my eye and my bloody lip as I tried to push her hands away and get my jeans back on. “What the hell is wrong with you tonight?” “Just forget it!” I yelled. “I need to get going.” “Oh yeah? Why’s that? You got nothing waiting for you at home.” I pulled my shoulders close together and bit down on the pad of my thumb. I didn’t remember telling Yolanda about Tria leaving, but apparently I had. I was afraid to open my mouth now. I tensed every muscle to keep myself from trembling. If Yolanda noticed, she’d figure out why. If she figured it out, she’d stop me. Is that such a bad thing? Yes, most definitely. I couldn’t risk it. I couldn’t have Yolanda knowing what I was doing and dragging me somewhere to clean up. She would take back the cash she’d just given me, and I’d be royally fucked. I couldn’t let that happen. “I gotta go,” I said again. I shouldered past her and out the door, ignoring her calls after me. I didn’t stop at the bar or acknowledge the fans around me as I left. I took the cash I’d earned to Max and traded it for all the heroin I could get. I returned to my apartment and banged up. Bliss. Everything was perfect.

Wow! Part of me wants to stop there, because that's how I feel right now having just finished this book, but I know that's not really a review... Let me start by saying that the synopsis of this book doesn't do it justice at all. Yes, the book is about 2 young women and their marriages, but that just scratches the surface. Marital Blissaster follows Madison and Callie going back and forth between their points of view. We also go from present day to their high school/college experience to get the back story for where they are now. The author does an excellent job of balancing Madison's story with Callie's so that we have an opportunity to get to know them both and appreciate the journeys that they are going on. I also found myself relating to both women. I could easily put myself in both of their shoes to some extent. I don't know if it's age or something else, but as I read, I kept asking myself "would I do that?" and "how would I handle that situation?" I loved the way the situations were resolved; both women learned important lessons about love and family and there was even a pretty awesome surprise twist. I won this ebook during another author's facebook party and I'm so glad I did. Ms. Taylor will definitely be an author whose work I look into more.

Wildest Dreams ~ Robyn Carr ~ Quick Review

Today's review is for Robyn Carr's newest release, Wildest Dreams, which came out on Tuesday.

3.5 stars Worth a Reader's Time

If you are looking for a hot and heavy romance, this book is not for you. The romantic relationship featured in the story doesn't make an appearance until more than 3/4 of the way into the book.
If you are looking for a story about community, friendships, and the various relationships that weave themselves together to make a full life then this is the place to be. Lin Su and Blake are the latest couple to meet and fall in love in Thunder Point, OR, and while they are integral to the story we spend just as much time with Grace, Troy, Winnie, and co. Ms. Carr does a fantastic job of painting a picture of the community of Thunder Point and the various relationships that flourish there. I do have to confess that while I enjoyed Wildest Dreams and found it to be a great addition to the Thunder Point series, I did not connect with Lin Su at all. I enjoyed her son, Charlie, and the growth he showed during the story and I liked and related to Blake, but Lin Su always felt flat to me. If you are following the Thunder Point series, this is a solid addition and it is a great chance to catch up with what our local friends are doing.

I have to admit that that the attraction to me for this anthology was the Dianne Duvall title, Phantom Embrace. It was by far my favorite of the 4 books, so I am going to give brief reviews of them all.
On The Hunt - 3.5 stars
This was a good complete story of love reuniting. I didn't feel lost at all for not having read the other books in the series. I loved how Mika and Bailey both learned from past mistakes and the sweet gesture at the end was wonderful.
Scorpius Rising - 3 stars
Good, Complete story. The disease fighting/suspense aspect was more prominent that the Deke/Nora love story, but it worked.
Phantom Embrace - 4.5 stars
A parallel story to that of Night Unbound. I loved the story of Yuri, a character we have seen in previous books. It was fun to get to know him more and I really enjoyed the direction the author took with this story. She keeps surprising me with her ability to keep the Immortal Guardians fresh.
Stake Out - 3 stars
A cute and funny take on vampires. Well written and the suspense element was handled very well.
Definitely an anthology that is worth the time to read.

PLEASE NOTE: Only You is a Contemporary Romance with intense language and sexual situations meant for readers 18 and up.
Prologue
Paige My eyelids were weak and heavy. All I did now was sleep, but I was still too tired to wake up. I didn’t even remember how I got here. It took a pathetic amount of strength to lift my head and glance over the tray of food. I wasn’t sure what time it was, but pretty sure it was late. Why they thought I wanted crackers now was beyond me. They can’t really expect me to eat, can they? Swallowing anything was torturous thanks to the deep open sores that trailed down my throat. Water burned, so the thought of eating anything was as appealing as chowing down on sandpaper—and would probably feel the same going down. I curled into the fetal position as I shivered and rubbed at my skin to get warm and felt the pointy bone through the flesh of my arms. I reached for the covers and winced at the pain fingers as I gathered up the scratchy fabric and pulled it over my aching shoulders. It hurt to move. It hurt to breathe. Most of all, it hurt to think. The life I wanted, with the man I wanted, haunted my dreams. You own me. Can’t you see that? You’re mine. You’re everything. I…can’t see my future with anyone else but you. I finally found what I’d been looking for my entire life, but I couldn’t keep it. The sound of voices yelling outside my hospital room snatched me out of my thoughts. I pushed myself up, panting at the exertion it took to sit upright. I leaned back on my elbows and my weak heart leaped in my chest when I recognized the voice causing all the commotion outside—the voice I’d know anywhere. “I need to see her, please.” Evan? No, no, no. I didn’t want him to see me like this. How did he find out I was here? “I’m sorry, sir. Immediate family only. This is the ICU.” “I’m not leaving. Paige? Daisy, it’s me!” My heavy head dropped to my hands. The sobs that ran through me made it difficult to breathe thanks to the oxygen tubes filtering through my nose. Pushing him away was the hardest thing I ever had to do, but I did it for him. I didn’t want to let him go. I wanted him to hold me, tell me he loved me and know he would never leave me. I wanted that so fucking much it ached. “Sir, please. She’s a very sick girl.” In time, he’d see. He deserved someone who could give him a life, children, and a future. All things I can’t offer him, no matter how much I wished things were different. He deserved better than this, better than me. The door was half closed but opened with such force that it banged into the wall and made me jump. Evan marched up to my bed and took my face in his hands. His hay colored eyes filled with tears as his hands shook. “I love you, and I’m not going anywhere.” His voice quivered with emotion, but I wasn’t sure if it was sadness, rage, or a combination of the two. “Now, you’re going to tell me exactly what’s going on. And why you lied to me—”

From the New York Times bestselling author of Stepbrother Dearest, comes a new forbidden STANDALONE romance. What happens when the one you want is the only one you can’t have? My name is Sevin. Homeschooled and sheltered by my ultra-religious family, I was always taught that lust was a sin. Elle was the girl who’d been carefully chosen for me. After a long-distance courtship, I’d be moving into her family’s guesthouse so that we could get to know each other in the months before the wedding. Boundaries were set: no inappropriate touching, no kissing, no sex before marriage. I’d accepted those rules and my fate. Until I met the one I wanted to sin with. That was when restraint became a problem…especially since the one wasn’t Elle. It was her sister, Evangeline. You know what they say about best laid plans. My name is Sevin, and I have sinned. Told in alternating points of view, Sins of Sevin is a full-length standalone novel. Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. Only appropriate for adult readers age 18+.

If You Only Knew ~ Kristan Higgins ~ NEW RELEASE

Congratulations to Kristan Higgins are new brand new release, If You Only Knew.

Sisterhood in all its drama, hilarity and tears is at the heart of New York Times bestselling author Kristan Higgins's thoroughly captivating new novel, featuring the wit and romance that readers have come to expect from the much-loved creator of the Blue Heron series... Wedding-dress designer Jenny Tate understands the happily-ever-after business, yet somehow she's still involved in her ex-husband's life. In fact, Owen's new wife may—inexplicably—be Jenny's new best friend. Sensing this, well, relationship isn't helping her move on, Jenny trades the Manhattan skyline for her hometown up the Hudson, where she'll be able to bask in her sister Rachel's picture-perfect family life…and hopefully make one of her own. Her timing couldn't be more perfect, since Rachel will need her younger sister. Her idyllic marriage has just fallen to pieces in spectacular fashion after she discovers her husband sexting with one of his colleagues. Second chances aren't in Rachel's nature, but the desire for an intact family has her rethinking her stance on adultery, much to Jenny's surprise. Rachel points to their parents' "perfect" marriage as a shining example, but to protect her sister Jenny may have to tarnish that memory—and their relationship—and reveal a secret about their family she's been keeping since childhood. During this summer of secrets and lies, temptation and revelation, Jenny and Rachel will rely on each other to find the humor in their personal catastrophes, the joy in their triumphs…and the strength to keep hanging on.

Review Copy provided by publisher via net galley

I have to admit that at this point in my life, more than 90% of the books I read are for “fun.” I want to escape, even if it’s just for a few minutes, into the imaginary worlds that authors create. Those worlds are way more fun than the family room covered in toys that kids don’t want to pick up. If You Only Knew is not an “escape” book. It is a wonderfully written, insightful, “make you think” book.
Our main characters are sisters, Jenny and Rachel. When we meet them, Jenny is divorced, but still friends with her ex-husband and his new wife. She is also in the process of moving back to her hometown. Rachel has the “perfect” life as a stay at home mom to triplets. It doesn’t take long for that perfect world to implode.
As we follow both Jenny and Rachel moving through the changes in their lives, I found myself relating to both of them. I could understand Jenny’s attitude that friendship with Owen (the ex-husband) was better than nothing, but I appreciated her growth to understand what happened in that relationship and how she eventually handled it. My “relationship” with Rachel was a little different. As I was watching her deal with the changes in her marriage, I caught myself asking “What would I do there?” “Could I deal with that?” To be honest, I don’t know that I would have done anything differently that Rachel did and I appreciated the way she handled the situation she was in.
I was a little nervous about If You Only Knew because it is a departure from what Ms. Higgins normally writes and I wasn’t sure how the things I love about her other books would translate. While the laugh-out-loud moments weren’t present in this work, the wonderful sense of humor, personal growth, and solid relationships were. We leave Jenny and Rachel with the feeling that their situations are resolved and “happy-for now;” I would love to see what the future holds for both sisters.

Excerpt

I grabbed my cell and checked the time. It was six-twenty-nine. I threw it in my purse and turned back to the mirror to give myself a pep talk. “We will not have sex. We will not have sex. We will not have sex.” Jesus, I was so horny already, and I hadn’t even seen him yet. I’d thought about taking care of myself before JC got there but wasn’t sure if that would make things better or worse. By the time I’d decided it would make it better, Ben was there, and now JC was ringing my buzzer. “You look incredible,” he said when I opened the door. I blushed as I gave him a onceover. He was dressed in khakis with a fitted shirt and a lightweight jacket. Lots of buttons, I thought. Which was a good thing, considering how damn good he looked. Had he always been that buff? “You do, too.” My thighs felt hot. Good thing I’d changed out of my pants. I really should have pulled out my vibrator earlier. “You brought flowers?” I’d been so taken by him I hadn’t noticed the small bouquet in his hands. Three red roses dressed with some smaller white bell-shaped flowers I couldn’t identify were wrapped in a red ribbon. I hadn’t expected it. “I didn’t know you were the kind of guy who brought girls roses.” He shrugged with one shoulder. “I’m trying to impress you. I have a feeling this date is a test of some kind, and I want to make sure I pass.” “Not a test,” I said dismissively. Though, wasn’t that what this was? A test to see if we got along as well outside the bedroom as we did inside? “But thank you. You do impress.” I shifted my weight to one hip and flitted my glance between JC, still standing on the other side of the threshold, and the flowers in my hand. “I should put these in water.” But I wasn’t sure I was ready to invite him in. Because in meant we’d be closer to my bed. And my couch. And my kitchen counter. All of which were locations that could be tempting. Really, I just shouldn’t be anywhere alone with him. Either JC felt the same way I did or he could read my mind. “You can do that later. The plastic containers on the stems should last until we get back. And we should get going.” “Perfect.” I set them on the console table behind me, relieved and nervous all at once. I took a deep breath, grabbed my purse, and turned back to him. “Let’s go!” In the hallway, he offered me his hand. I took it, then, there it was—the shock of his touch as his fingers weaved with mine. I let out an involuntary sigh, and with it bricks of tension fell from my body. Release. It shuddered through me as electricity sparked up my limb from where we were connected and spread throughout my body, and I wondered if this was what it felt like to melt. What it felt like to be frozen for so long and then, finally, to have the sun brush against cold ice, transforming it into something more fluid, something entirely different. I glanced down to where we were joined, so overcome by how right it felt to be touching him in this simple way. When I looked back at him, I found his eyes pinned on me. His expression said he’d felt it too. “You messed up, you know,” he said, as we started toward the elevator. “You were supposed to wear something that I didn’t want to rip off of you.” My cheeks heated—actually, I wasn’t sure they’d ever cooled from the first blush he’d caused. “You said it would be impossible for me to wear anything that wouldn’t elicit that response. The only other choice was to go naked.” “That would have been an excellent choice.” “But not very practical.” “I’ve never been a fan of practical.” He pushed the call button and the elevator doors opened immediately, the car likely still there from when he’d arrived. We stepped inside, our hands still molded together. The doors closed, and I so badly wanted to turn and kiss him. Instead I delivered the short speech I’d practiced since I’d woken up that afternoon. “I think I should tell you, I don’t have sex on first dates.” “Wow. That’s...surprising. Considering we had sex before we’d ever even been on a date.” He squeezed my hand. “But, after you left me with blue balls this morning, I already figured out you’d turned into a prude.” I laughed. “I’m not a prude. I’m cautious. And that’s nothing new. That’s always been me.” “Yes, it has.” The short phrase was full of subtext, and I knew he was remembering how uptight I’d been when we’d first met. Icy. Frigid bitch. “I’m better than I was,” I assured him. He nodded. “I know. Otherwise you wouldn’t have given me even this much of you. And if you want to wait, then I can too.” What I wanted was to push him against the wall and devour him. But that was an in-the-moment want, and long-term, I wanted a relationship that was real and lasting. “Thank you. It means a lot.” He leaned in close and, though we were alone, whispered in my ear. “I’m not going to say that I’m not dying to have you under me, Gwen. Because I am. But I’m dying to just be with you more.” Despite the descent of the elevator, his words sent me floating. “You’re really good at that impressing thing.” He gave me my favorite grin. “Who knew?”

One mistake, and his career is over. Sebastian has other plans. Mason’s career isn’t his target—not even close. Sam is bound and determined to protect Mason herself, no matter the cost, but what if the cost is beyond her imagination? What if this time, the villain wins?

Excerpt One

She was confident. She moved with purpose. It hit me how much she changed from when she’d moved in with Analise. She’d lost everything. She hadn’t cared about anything, and she had been a badass because of it—striking out, not giving a shit. Logan and I took her in, and then she had something to lose—me. She got scared. She was pushed around by the girls and bullied by her own mother, and through all that crap, she’d still fought. She’d clawed her way back up, protecting and loving Logan and me at the same time. Good god. I wanted to pull her on top of me. I wanted to lose myself in her. When I sat on the couch, Sam had a knowing grin, and she sat right where I wanted her, right where maybe she shouldn’t have. My hands held her hips as she straddled me. She looped her arms around my neck and rested her forehead to mine. Her grin never dimmed, not even as she teased, “Why do I feel like we’re in high school, and I don’t want my mom to catch us making out in the basement?” Shit, I love this woman. A smooth and lazy low laugh flitted from her lips. I waited for her to find my mouth with hers, but she didn’t. She held back and her eyes traced over my face. “What happened today?” I wasn’t going to tell her. More time. I needed more time.

Excerpt Two

I drew one of his fingers into my mouth. My tongue wrapped around it. I wanted to forget about my afternoon and how I was going to handle that situation. I wanted to get lost in his arms. Seeing what I wanted, Mason tipped us both back, cradling me on his chest as he lay down. I was securely in his arms, and he rolled me over, so he was looming above me. His eyes darkened, holding my gaze before dropping to my lips where a small smile showed, and I let go of his finger. The ache for him already started inside me. A knowing grin formed on his face, and without saying a word, he slipped from the bed to lock the door and flip the lights off. My heart started pounding. The need for him was rising between my legs, and I licked my lips, watching as he took his shirt off. He was all muscle. I could make out every single one of them as he came back to me. The flames were growing hotter and hotter. I wanted to slide my hands over every inch of him. I wanted to feel his weight on top of me. I wanted to feel him inside me. I wanted him to break the fucking bed for me.

Excerpt Three

A shiver went down my back. I hadn’t thought it would get that ugly, but Logan was right. There had been an attempted hit-and-run. A house was burned down. And those had been the opening acts. Shit got real. I sucked in my breath. My hand flattened against my stomach—no, that was Mason’s arm. I moved closer to him, edging forward, as Logan was talking. Mason held me back. I moved back a step, and he glanced down at me. There was a question in his depths. Was I okay? I nodded, feeling my pulse skyrocket, as Logan’s voice kept repeating, “Prison,” in my mind. “You think that’s where this is going?” Logan craned his head to the side. “We’ve been on campus for two days, and both days, we’ve run into you. I don’t think it’s a coincidence, and I think you’re stupid to pretend that they were.” “What are you saying?” “Nothing.” Logan looked around to the crowd. “Just telling you that we have no delusions where this is going and that we’re not underestimating you.” He glanced to Mason. “Though, I agree with my brother. I think you’re underestimating us.” Logan is stalling. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks. So was Mason. That was why his anger subsided. They were waiting for something. I studied Sebastian, and I noticed he was, too. No one was making a move against the other. The crowd grew more restless. They were like me, waiting for the fun to happen—not that it was fun. If this was a preview of what was to come throughout my entire freshman year, this was going to give me a heart attack by the end of the year.

Author Information

I didn't begin writing until after undergraduate college. There'd been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can't blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I'm hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! And I hope you keep enjoying my future stories.
