Ryder ~ Jessica Peterson ~ Release Boost & review

One hard fall in the rodeo ring.

One maddeningly gorgeous cowboy.
One chance at love she swore she’d never take.

Billie Wallace has spent her whole life trying to prove she’s more than the Wallace Ranch’s “wild” only daughter. All she wants is a shot at barrel racing—and a purpose beyond crunching numbers in her daddy’s office. But when her very first run ends in disaster, Billie lands flat on her back with Ryder Rivers—her childhood crush, her brother’s best friend, and the town’s notorious heartbreaker—hovering over her.

In all the years she's known him, Ryder has never entertained Billie's shameless flirting. But after her fall, he's suddenly everywhere—showing up to help her when she’s hurt, staring at her across the honky-tonk when she’s trying to move on with a bronc rider, and encouraging her to explore her dream career.

Before either can really register what’s happening, their partnership sparks into much more than just dust and arguments.
Late nights turn into stolen kisses. Stolen kisses turn into something that feels dangerously like forever. Ryder swears he’s not the staying kind, but the way he looks at Billie like she’s the only woman in the world makes everyone start to wonder if he’s ready to stop running…

Please don’t let the fact that it took me two weeks to read Ryder mean something bad - I’ve been having a major case of life lately!
Ryder does double duty as a book. It’s the final book featuring the Rivers boys as they find their true loves while also introducing us to the Wallace family. The Wallace’s have appeared in secondary roles before, but this is the first time they, in sister Billie, have a feature role.
Ryder and Billie are awesome together. Not only do they have amazing chemistry, but they also help each other grow in key ways. I truly enjoyed watching them grow together.
The secondary cast continues to be great! This is technically a standalone, but there is so much of the Rivers boys in this book that you are better off reading in order!

We are back in Stars Fall with the Colburn brothers! This time it’s middle brother, Caleb.
He is paired with his college nemesis, Emma.

I loved these two! Not only is Caleb a complete cinnamon roll alpha leading man (similar to his brother Ryder), but the enemies to friends to more was a great trip.
When Caleb and Emma connect, they are both dealing with baggage. Some is historical and some is real time. It was fun to see them navigate their evolving relationship while also trying to stay out of their own way.
Add in two adorable puppies, a group of crazy siblings, and a little bit of mystery and this is a winner of a book!
I am living the Colburn brothers and can’t wait to see what happens with Tucker!

3.5 stars - Worth a Reader's Time

Review Copy provided by Net Galley

This was a fun trip back to Get Lost Lodge!
We get to spend more time with the Keller family and the oldest brother, Gray, in this installment. This is a standalone in a series and is easy to read by itself, but it's definitely a richer experience if you've read the books in order.

I found the Keller family and Charlie easy to like and root for. The conflict here was telegraphed from early in the story, but it was handled well. It was a bit distracting to know what was going to blow up, just not how, because I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The town of Smile is almost a secondary character in the series and I am curious if there will be books surrounding some of the other residents.

About IT SEEMED LIKE A GOOD IDEA:

He ghosted me once, now he’s supposed to protect me?

I don’t need a bodyguard—I run a small-town lavender farm, for bee’s sake. But when my identical twin sister lands the movie role of a lifetime that’s being shot in my hometown I get one anyway.

And guess which broody, tattooed protector the studio sends to keep the paparazzi off my porch?

Last month’s almost one-night stand.

The guy with the wicked mouth and heated eyes who slipped out before the fun even started. But turns out the sexy jerk is excellent at rescuing me from sneaky photographers at the market. Then the coffee shop. I’m trying hard to stay mad after the third time my new bodyguard saves me.

To top it all off, he’s staying in the cottage at my farm. With me. And there’s only one bed.

Maybe if we finally give in and finish what we started, it’ll relieve the tension? But one night quickly turns into another. Then into late-night secrets and soft confessions we shouldn’t say out loud. Especially since he’s leaving and I’m staying, and there’s no way we can be more than a summer romance that ends far too soon.

Escape into a spicy and hilarious forbidden small town rom com from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lauren Blakely!

Ripley

He’s touching me in some kind of slo-mo seduction. His fingers move to my jawline, the pads grazing along my face, then coming to a stop at my chin where he holds me. Roams his thumb right under my lower lip. Breathes out hard, full of wanting.

I am done.

“Just kiss me,” I whisper, already begging.

His lips curve up in the pleased grin of a man who holds the cards. “Patience,” he says, voice deep and in charge.

“I’m not feeling very patient,” I murmur.

“Good,” he says, a lion toying with his prey.

Pounce on me.

I have to apologize for being a slow reader on this one! I loved Ripley and Banks - life just got in the way of reading time.
It Seemed Like a Good Idea introduces us to a whole community (with a few Easter eggs of familiar names), and I can't wait to see what happens next in this community.
This is a well-written and entertaining book with a cute premise. We have mistaken identity, workplace romance, and a small taste of the forbidden. These incredibly likable characters made me want to hang out with them.
Ripley is the "older" twin who wants to take care of her sister. Banks is responsible for Ripley's safety when a movie takes over her farm. From an adorable meet-cute to seeing them peel back the emotional layers as they get to know each other, they are an easy couple to root for.

This was an excellent conclusion to the Moonlit Ridge series! As it is the 5th book of 5, I don’t think it stands a lone as strongly as some of the other books, so I definitely suggest reading in order!

Cash has been the member of the crew that has lurked in the background until now. We learn a lot about why here. He is paired with Daisy, his first love, when she needs his help. Both of these characters are amazing and the secondary cast is a treat.
If you have been following the series, there are awesome tid bits to catch up on.

This is a typically well written book by Ms Jackson. I loved the twist at the end!! There are also hints at what may be coming next and I can’t wait!

I’m going to be honest and say that I wasn’t sure about this one going in - the idea of one player pairing up with recent ex of another was almost more than I was ready for. BUT- Ms Meader handled this so well that I found myself sympathetic and liking Summer and Hatch.

I appreciated the fact that this book was focused on growth and had people taking accountability for their actions. This was a bit of a slower read, but I did find myself invested.

This is also a book that does a lot of work on the world building front. We are introduced to secondary characters that will play major roles in future books of the series. I am curious to see what happens next for the Rebels.

Heaven Forbid finishes the three book arc focused on “Princess” Alix and her grandmother, Marguerite.
We’ve seen modern day Alix fall in love with her footballer and then take Oma back to Dresden for the first time.
We’ve seen Marguerite survive the terrors of late WWII Germany, meeting a Jewish GI, and falling in love.
In this installment, we see wha happened in between Marguerite meeting Joe and Alix meeting Sebastian.
Ms James has a way of shining lights on things. Sometimes these are light hearted and sometimes these are whoppers. Heaven Forbid continues this tradition in her signature style.
I truly appreciate the ability to make me sit with ideas that may be uncomfortable while also falling in love with these characters.
Now that we’ve met the whole family, I’m curious to see what Ms James has for us next!
