Sweater Weather ~ Mandi Beck ~ New Release & Review

Oh my gosh! I am so glad that Mandi Beck is back!
Levi “ Sexy” Sexton has appeared in two other works by Ms Beck as a secondary character. It was so fun to get to know this bad boy who loves hockey, his ma, and his bed. Levi is paired with Saffron Briggs (his dad’s new pitcher) in this “enemies to lovers” story.
These two characters, along with the entertaining secondary cast, were super fun to get to know. Levi is honestly one of these guys that, like Saffie, you hate to like, but you can’t help it.
Ms Beck pulled me in and did a wonderful job of creating a world I didn’t want to leave as these two evolved and chipped away at each other. This is sequential to Maeve’s book, but the two books are completely stand alones. I am really hoping we have more from the Hockey house boys and their friends!

Synopsis:
Loch
I wish I could say it was love
at first sight. But I can’t.
Snarky.
Impatient.
Demanding.
Everything about the woman
standing next to me was complicated, from her designer clothes to her coffee
order. I don’t do complicated unless it comes with a good time. And then it’s
only for a night or two, max.
I was more than happy to leave
the coffee shop, and her, behind, but
neither of us saw what was coming . . .
Tuesday
I wish I could say I remember
him. But I can’t.
Patient.
Generous.
Handsome.
The same stranger who saved me
steps in again when I have nowhere to go and no memory of who I am. He’s broody
and rigid, but I see a different side of this gorgeous man and start to realize
I’m not the only one who needs saving.
Falling for him wasn’t in my
plans, but as I search for answers to my past, I realize that I don’t worry
about getting my memory back. My fear is losing my life twice.

Loch Westcott hates Tuesdays. Then our uptight lawyer steps in to help the rude girl from the coffee shop, changing the course of both their lives.
In this connected stand alone, Ms Scott pulls us into the evolving world around Loch and Tuesday in the aftermath of her attack. Both characters grow in unexpected ways in the short time they spend together. I enjoyed the fast paced story with strong romance and intrigue elements.
This story really does stand by itself, but some secondary characters will be familiar to loyal readers. This is sequential to the story featuring Loch’s brother, Harbor, so potential spoilers exist if you haven’t read that book yet. After meeting two Westcott siblings, I hope we get to see the younger two soon!

Do you like books set in small towns with an interesting family of characters? Then More Than I Could will be up your alley!
Chase and his brothers are fun to watch together.
The teasing felt organic and this is a group that I’d like to get to know better. Megan is an interesting addition to the group. She fits in right away and offers a perspective that the family hadn’t seen before.
I appreciated the way Chase and Megan gradually fit together and the fact that it was a 14 year old who nudged them along the path to being happy.
I will say that I wanted a little more from this story - I wish we gone a little deeper on certain facets, but I think that is personal and it didn’t detract from the enjoyment of what’s here. I do have to wonder if we will see more of the Marshall family soon.

In The Sister Effect, Ms Mallery takes us to meet Finley and Sloan. They are in a strange place (along with their mother) as a family.
I found myself genuinely liking both sisters. Both are flawed in different ways that frequently put them at odds with one another. I appreciated how the surrounding cast helped steer them toward the path of being better.
Ms Mallery does an excellent job of portraying the struggles of addiction, both for the addict and for the people around them. This was done gracefully and I found it helpful in understanding the dynamics around Finley and Sloan.
Our male leads (Jericho and Ellis) were likeable as well. They were the counterpoints Finley and Sloan needed and helped model the forgiveness element of the story.
Overall, this is an great read, especially for those interested in family dynamics and the complicated relationship they bring to the table.
