When I Had You by S.L. Scott

After a little bit of a chaotic start, When I Had You settled into being a good conclusion to the series surrounding the Westcott siblings. Marina is the youngest, and only sister, in the family we’ve been getting to know. She is paired with racing bad boy, Cash Ryatt.

When I Had You is sequential to the previous Westcott books, so Marina has been a secondary character we’ve seen for a while. It was neat to see her as an adult and see her fully come into her own. Cash is a new character connected to Westcott Racing and Marina’s brothers.

I struggled a little bit with how the meet cute between these two unfolded. Neither character showed their best selves and I was a bit concerned for how things were going to go. I should have known to trust Ms Scott! There are still pieces that I would have loved to have more back story on, but that’s only because I ended up liking the influence Cash and Marina had on each other and how both evolved.

One of my favorite things about this story is how, after their rocky start, Cash and Marina got to know each other and develop a bond that went past the physical attraction between them.

For those that have been following the series, the older Westcotts play a significant secondary role. For new readers, don’t worry, When I Had You is a sweet and romantic stand alone.
