Feel Again ~ Faith Andrews ~ Review

A dare.
 A dying wish.
 Fate...
After years of loneliness, widowed Gabriella is ready to fill the void—as long as she doesn't have to give her heart to another man.
Caleb's screwed himself right into a dead-end existence. Faced with an ultimatum, he's hell-bound on changing his reckless ways.
A chance meeting has these two instantly attracted to one another, but when their paths cross again—this time as professor and student—the roles reverse on Professor Edwards as Caleb teaches her how to feel again.

There are some books that I read and I can write the review pretty quickly afterwards. Feel Again was not one of those books as it honestly sat heavy on my heart after finishing the book.
Ms. Andrews hits us hard emotionally with this book from the prologue on. September 11 is my generation's Pearl Harbor or JFK assassination - if you lived through it, you remember where you were that day and reading Gabby's experience brought all of that right back for me.
This was a rare experience where I could connect fairly strongly with both of the main characters. I could easily put myself in Gabby's shoes. I could also relate to the emotional challenges Caleb is dealing with and I loved the instant connection between these two. Ms. Andrews does a wonderful job of showing how fragile both Gabby and Caleb are when they meet and how their relationship helps both blossom.
My one complaint has to do with the professor/student relationship set up. It was an interesting vehicle to bring Gabby and Caleb back together after their initial meeting and it provided an additional source of conflict with his delusional roommate, but it also added a sense of deception that I wasn't comfortable with.
Overall, I connected with Feel Again and was so glad to see both of these characters get the second chances they deserved. I am hoping to see more of them in future books in the series.

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan never thought she’d be a writer. Not really. No, she loved math and science and even went on to graduate school in chemistry. Yes, she read as a kid and devoured teen fiction and Harry Potter, but it wasn’t until someone handed her a romance book in her late teens that she realized that there was something out there just for her. When another author suggested she use the voices in her head for good and not evil, The Redwood Pack and all her other stories were born. Carrie Ann is a bestselling author of over twenty novels and novellas and has so much more on her mind (and on her spreadsheets *grins*) that she isn’t planning on giving up her dream anytime soon. Too Hot to Handle ~ Susan Arden ~ NEW RELEASE

A random hookup too hot to handle? Never say never.

In a grueling game of cat-n-mouse with her step-uncle, it’s Margo’s move.

On the run, she does a body slide right into the arms of a recently discharged Marine. Outside of a crazy fling, there is zero room in her life for men. Distractions are dangerous to her health.

From working a fence line and dealing with cattle, Rod McLemore is thrust back into the line of duty. And he promptly fails. He crosses the line in a no-brainer mission: go and get the girl. On no hands is he prepared for Margo or her smart-mouth, right hook, and cargo to hide.

Margo and Rod are as volatile as flint and gunpowder. Bordering on taboo, their raw attraction is a recipe for disaster. Especially when the stakes are raised.

Their stormy love affair forces them over the edge and out of their comfort zones as they wrangle in-laws, Mother Nature, and a slick conman. A regular trial by fire. But a battle worth fighting means taking a stand and they'll do whatever it takes to stay together. Even if it means they have to lie, cheat, steal.
Or kill.

Margo Santero.
Riding in a rodeo with a pack of adrenaline-hyped cowboys isn't what it was cracked up to be. On the run since my mom died, I found out the hard way everyone has a price. And trust is a commodity. This isn't the lifestyle I want, but neither is the demented offer my step-uncle tosses my way. He ups the ante, threatening my horse, forcing me to bolt. One day I'll fix Axel for good. For now, I've gotta a run.

Rod McLemore.
She stormed into my life. A beautiful hurricane with dark secrets, blinding curves, and a smart-mouth I should kiss into submission. She's on the run and needs my help. Not that she listens. But if it’s the last thing I do, I’m going to make her mine. Even if it means I have to lie, cheat, deal with her horse from hell...
Or get out my M9. Won't be the first time I’ve pulled the trigger.

STORM WARNING: This is a seismic erotic romance, detailing a barely-legal runaway and a dirty-talking McLemore. If a fiercely protective aka alpha-male cowboy lights your fire, then you've come to the right ranch.

Finding Serenity ~ T.E. Black ~ NEW RELEASE and REVIEW

When it was good, it was great.
When it was bad, it was worse.

My life turned into a whirlwind of destruction before I even got the chance to love her.
She could have been my angel, my saving grace; I never gave her the chance.
I gave myself a taste of her angelic kiss, convincing her to love with everything she had. Then I destroyed her. I destroyed both of us and I felt nothing as I did it.

I didn't feel anything in my sorry state.

We both had secrets and both of them would have destroyed us in one way or another.
Hers could have possibly been bigger than mine, but I doubted it from the start.
I knew I had the quality of devastation within me the entire time.
After all, I'm the king of lies.

 I'm the king of addiction.
 I'm the king of turmoil.
I'm the king of motherfucking heartbreak.

3.5 Stars - Worth A Reader's Time

Review Copy Provided by Author

For me, the last quarter of this book is what made it worth reading. I enjoyed the rest of the story, but how it ended made some earlier frustration worth it.

We met both Trent and Shay in Finding A Way. Finding Serenity picks up not long after the end of Finding A Way and we see the characters from the first book appear here frequently, but reading Finding A Way is not necessary to appreciate this story.

Both character have issues that they are dealing with. For Shay, it's a dead-beat ex husband who chose booze over their little girl. This means she has to work two jobs to make ends meet. For Trent, its grief over his mother's illness and his own drug abuse. I had a hard time connecting to both Trent and Shay. With Trent, it was that I just couldn't understand how he would welcome oblivion over spending time with his mother and the "girls" he claims to love. He also knowingly and repeatedly sabotaged his relationship with Shay. With Shay, my issue was that as a mother, she had already had to deal with one addicted spouse, why would she knowingly introduce that into her house again?

When things were good between Trent and Shay, they were great and fun to watch. The bad times were frustrating and I kept wishing for Shay to stand up for herself and her daughter. When things bottomed out, I was thrilled with how Trent responded to the dramatic wake up call.

Okay - you've probably read all that and are thinking "you said this is a book worth reading." It is - Finding Serenity is not a light-hearted fun read. It deals with serious issues and I think the fact that I struggled with connecting to the characters has to do with the fact that my own life experience is so far removed from what they are dealing with. Ms. Black does an excellent job of putting the reader into Shay and Trent's heads so you can see what they are thinking, even if you don't understand it. Trent appears to be the stereotypical little boy who wants attention and doesn't care how he gets it. Shay fights with him until she can't anymore. Then we get to watch their highs and lows until they get it right.

If you liked Finding A Way, I think you will enjoy Finding Serenity as well.

What You Need ~ Lorelei James ~ Review

New York Times bestseller Lorelei James introduces a new family for readers to fall in love with in the Need You series. The Lund name is synonymous with wealth and power in Minneapolis-St. Paul. But the four Lund siblings will each discover true love takes a course of its own…

As the CFO of Lund Industries, Brady Lund is the poster child for responsibility. But eighty hour work weeks leave him little time for a life outside his corner office. His brothers stage an intervention and drag him to a seedy night club...where he sees her, the buttoned up blonde from the secretarial pool who's starred in his fantasies for months.

Lennox Greene is a woman with a rebellious past—which she carefully conceals beneath her conservative clothes. She knows flirting with her sexy, but aloof boss during working hours is a bad idea. So when Brady shows up at her favorite dive bar, sans his usual snappy suit, and catches her cutting loose, she throws caution aside and dares him to do the same.

After sparks fly, Brady finds keeping his hands off Lennox during office hours is harder than expected. While she makes him feel alive for the first time in years, a part of him wonders if she’s just using him to get ahead. And Lennox must figure out if Brady wants her for the accomplished woman she is—or the bad girl she was.

I was in a bit of a funk when I started reading this book and it was just what the doctor ordered! The rich boss/poor employee trope can be very trite, but Ms. James puts a fresh spin on things that made What You Need a fun and entertaining story.

Lennox and Brady were both terrific characters who were much more than they initially seemed to be. I enjoyed spending time with them and watching them get to know each other. I also appreciated the fact that even though they explored their sexual tension, they didn't consummate the relationship right away.

Brady's family (the Lunds) had the biggest roles in the supporting cast and I am hoping we will see books featuring his siblings and cousins soon. They all seem like fun people to get to know.

I have two complaints about What You Need. One: Brady's brother, Walker, discussed his relationship with Lennox somewhere he shouldn't have. Brady mentions needing to deal with that, but we never see the resolution. Two: The ending. I don't want to give anything away, so I will just say that the ending seemed anticlimactic to me based on the rest of what we know about Brady and Lennox.

Even with my grumps, I still enjoyed What You Need and am hoping to see additional books in the series.

“I told you I didn’t need a man to feel complete. I meant that.” I’m going to make her come so hard she’s going to know what she’s been missing. I stroke the back of my hand down her cheek. Soft. Smooth. Delicate. “You’re beautiful, Wren.” Most of the women I’ve been with are too skinny, and they hide behind masks of cosmetics. But not Wren. She’s an all-natural woman. She’s very different from Bridgette, yet alike in many ways. Both make me laugh. Both put me at ease. Both are so genuine. I rub her hip and there’s actually something there to grab instead of skin-covered bone. Skinny isn’t attractive to me. I like curves and shape. Wren is everything I like in a woman. She strokes my face again, running the tips of her fingers through my facial hair. “I love this, Brou. It’s my idea of manly beauty.” I’m used to being called Boudreaux. But I can get used to Brou if it’s coming from her. “Manly beauty.” This is the second time she’s made a reference about me being manly. Makes me wonder if she’s ever been with a man she considers masculine. Well, I’m going to show her how much of a man I am. And not just once. I lower myself until I’m hovering over her. I press my lips to the side of her neck as I grasp the back of her thigh and bend it at the knee. That’s it, baby. Wrap it around me. I glide my hand up the back of her smooth leg until it’s inside her shorts. And panties. Same song from last night. Second verse. But it’s palm against bare ass this time. I wonder what she’d do if my fingers left the safety of her ass cheek and moved to that sensitive place between her legs. Let’s find out. It’s been a long time for Wren. I don’t want to rush this so I move slowly, gliding my hand up to her waist before moving it lower. She jolts when I touch her groin. “Sorry. I’m terribly ticklish there.” Duly noted. I’ll use that to my advantage later. I move my hand away from the bend of her leg closer to her center. “What about that? Better?” “Yes.” The single word comes out in a soft whisper. Time to take her breath away, as promised. She pants as the tips of my fingers stroke her through the wet crotch of her panties. I’ve barely touched her and she’s drenched. Physical proof of her arousal and desire for me. Fucking beautiful. I push her panties aside and drag my finger up her wet center. She jolts when I graze her clit. Given it’s been a long time, she’ll be more sensitive than ever. That’s going to make this even hotter. I take my hand out of her panties and suck her slick moisture from my fingers. “Mmm . . . you are delicious. I can’t wait to taste you fully.” She reaches up a nd rubs my bottom lip. “You have a dirty mouth.” “I have a greedy mouth. Lucky you.”   TAP_Release_Day_Teaser_7   TAP_Release_Day_Teaser_1     a Rafflecopter giveaway         georgia-cates
