This is a sweet coming of age story for anyone who has ever felt "other" at 17.
Hannah and Liam are both high school students and neither of them really "fit" in their respective schools. A chance meeting leads to a night to remember.
This is a quick read and a sweet one, so perfect for audiences of all ages. I liked both Liam and Hannah and enjoyed seeing them getting to know each other. This is one of those stories where I was happy with how things ended, but really wanted to know more.

July ARC Review Round Up

I'm catching up on end of the month ARC Review books....

If you have been following the Cottonbloom books, you’ve enjoyed meeting the Abbott brothers in the last few books. After getting to know Mack, it was a pleasure to spend more time with him.
I really enjoyed the dynamic between and him and Ella. She is definitely a character worth getting to know and the enemies to friends to lovers relationship between them is a lot of fun.
This is well written and entertaining- as expected from Mrs Trentham and a strong addition to the Cottonbloom world. This is a stand-alone, but there is a lot of key back story in the prior two books in the series. There are a couple of sub plots that carry through the three books about the Abbot brothers that are well thought out as well.
The secondary cast rounds things out and helps make Mack and Ella’s story strong and more interesting. I am curious to see what will happen in town next.

I found this first book in the series to be entertaining, but maybe not as strong as some of the other works that I have read by Ms Foster.
The community of Cooper’s Charm is unique and fun to get to know. I also enjoyed the Rose sisters and their love interests immensely.
Ms Foster typically does a fantastic job of blending intrigue into her romantic stories. This book made the effort and gets credit for a satisfying conclusion, but I didn’t quite feel the tension in getting to that point or even really understand the motivation for the final villian. It felt like there were several opportunities that were left unexplored that might have made for a stronger story.
I also struggle a little bit with the fact that we get romances for both sisters in one book. I felt like by combining them, both stories were a bit short changed. Both couples come to the table with enough baggage that it felt like short cuts were taken to resolve some of the issues. Baxter’s (the romantic lead for Ridley) conflict especially seemed to be a bit anticlimactic once it was explained. Not the issue itself, but his response to it.
In terms of writing quality, community development, etc this is what I would expect from a Lori Foster book. I was entertained and enjoyed myself, but had a few things that I wish were a little stronger. If you are a Foster fan, I think you will enjoy this book. I am intrigued to see where she goes with this series and the other community members of Cooper’s Charm.

This is a short action packed novella that focuses on Mace and Jessa.
There is a definite story before this one, but I didn't feel like I was missing out by not knowing what came before.
Ms. Louise writes a story where the emotion just ripples of the page. She really makes you feel as if you are with Mace and Jessa while they celebrate their love for each other, grieve, fear, fight, and struggle.
This definitely has me curious to read more about this couple!

Stella Lilith used to have an adventurous side, but I think it’s been a while since she broke a few rules. “Will you climb out first?”

There’s my girl. “Yep.” I press down on the sink, hoping it doesn’t fall off the wall. It looks old, so I’m not sure it can hold my weight. But it’s getting louder in the hall, so I climb up, grabbing an exposed pipe above the window, and maneuver my legs through the opening. Good thing we’re on the ground level. Pushing off, I land on my feet in the alley and turn around. “Stella?”

She peeks out and by the way her lips are twisted and her eyes are looking at the cement, she’s nervous. “I don’t want to fall.”

“I’d never let you. Not to the ground anyhow.”

For a second, she looks confused, but her brow relaxes and a small smile appears. “You’ll catch me?”

“Every time.”

She disappears, and I can hear her climbing onto the sink. Her legs slide out the window until her ass rests on the metal sill. “Ready for me, Rivers?”

“All my life.”

“For real,” she says, her nerves causing a slight shake to her tone. “You’re going to catch me, right?”

“Always.” I take her by the ass, and say, “Put your legs over my shoulders.”

“What? No.”

“Yes. I’ve got you. Then all I have to do is back up as you slip out.”

“I’m not as light as I used to be. Are you sure you can handle me?”

I work my way under her so her legs are over my shoulders. “Don’t worry about me, baby. I can handle you all right.”

Her thighs squeeze my neck. I like to think it was the name I slipped in there, but it’s probably because she’s anxious to do this. She slips out a little more, and our eyes meet. “You’re sure you’re ready?”

“All you have to do is let go. I have you.”

Oh my heart! I have loved each of the Crow Brothers books, but I think Rivers' might be my favorite. It’s definitely the most emotional of the three books.
As the third book in the series, we’ve gotten to know Rivers and understood that there was something lurking for him. I was nice to see him face that head on and see the truly genuine heart ❤️ he was hiding.
I loved Stella as a heroine even when my heart hurt for what she was going through.
Well written, this is a fantastic balance between romance, intrigue, family, and forgiveness. There are glimpses of Jet and Tulsa (and their other halves), but this is 100% Rivers and Stella’s story. The additional back story from the other books is helpful, but this could be read as a standalone.
I truly appreciate how Ms Scott has crafted this book. Not only does she give glimpses of prior characters, we get to see future leads as well without it detracting from this story - that is an art she has mastered.
As much as I think Rivers might be my favorite, I’m really glad we get one more visit with the brothers when Ridge’s book comes out!

About Nina:
Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time huddled under the blankets dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever.
At the age of eighteen, in an attempt to turn dreams into reality, she headed south in search of the sun. She quickly picked up the perfect husband along the way and developed a taste for red wine and holidays in warm places.
Soon holidays weren’t enough, and together they volunteered to work in Africa where they both discovered a love of traveling and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward, they spent a number of years traveling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever the money ran out.) Eventually, they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain where they bought the small almond farm they now call home.
No electricity, no neighbors, no chocolate shops, but on the plus side, stunning scenery, a vineyard to make her own red wine, and far enough away from anywhere to satisfy Nina’s hermit tendencies. She shares the farm with her husband, and an ever-increasing number of animals, including Piggles, a three-legged Vietnamese pot-bellied pig.
Nina now spends her days riding her mare Gencianna under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.
She still travels, but usually only in her imagination, and can often be found lying under a fig tree, wine in hand, plotting stories of love in faraway places.
Nina believes love can come to anyone, anytime, anywhere and her books reflect this.

3.5 Stars - Worth a Reader's Time

This was a strong start to a new series with good characters and excellent world building.
Ms. Croft has created two strong leads in Emily and Tanner along with an entertaining secondary cast. The various subplots were handled well, creating curiosity about where the series will go next, but still feeling complete for this book.
I genuinely liked Emily and Tanner and rooted for them to get out of their own way. I appreciated the emotional growth they both experienced and some of the humor that went along with getting them there.
Saddlers Cove is a character unto itself and the towns people had a great impact on the story.
I haven’t read much by Ms Croft, but after reading this series starter, I definitely want to read more.
