Indigo Ridge by Devney Perry ~ New Release & Review

Indigo Ridge by Devney Perry is now live!

Winslow Covington believes in life, liberty and the letter of the law. As Quincy, Montana's new chief of police, she's determined to prove herself to the community and show them she didn't earn her position because her grandfather is the mayor.

According to her pops, all she has to do is earn favor with the Edens. But winning over the town's founding family might have been easier if not for her one-night stand with their oldest son. In her defense, it was her first night in town and she didn't realize that the rugged and charming man who wooed her into bed was Quincy royalty.

Sleeping with Griffin Eden was a huge mistake, one she's trying to forget. He's insufferable, arrogant and keeps reminding everyone that she's an outsider. Winslow does her best to avoid Griffin, but when a woman is found dead on Eden property, the two of them have no choice but to cross paths.

As clues to the murderer lead to one of Quincy's own, Griffin realizes Winslow is more than he gave her credit for. Beautiful and intelligent, she proves hard to resist. For him. And the killer.

Indigo Ridge is a book I’ve been looking forward to and Ms Perry didn’t disappoint as she introduced us to a new community of Quincy and the Eden family.

We meet Winslow (Winn) as she moves to town to become the new Police Chief. She immediately meets Griffin, rancher and descendant of town founders. The sparks between these two are immediate and it was pure fun watching them slip from awkward and casual to a relationship neither was looking for.

Indigo Ridge has an intrigue element that really makes the story stand out. I appreciated that the conflict of the story was outside of Winn and Griff’s relationship, it made their journey more authentic and realistic.

As the first book in a new series, Indigo Ridge had the heavy lifting of not only telling Winn and Griff’s story, but also building the world they and the Eden family will inhabit going forward. Ms Perry did an excellent job of balancing these two distinct jobs and making them flow organically together. It was a pleasure to meet Griff’s family and I am looking forward to seeing where the series is headed next.

Riggs by Sawyer Bennett ~ New Release & Review

Riggs (Arizona Vengeance, Book #11) Sawyer Bennett

Release Date: October 26, 2021

Synopsis:

Known as the team loner, Riggs Nadeau gives his all on the ice, but nothing extra off it. A beautiful stranger is about to cause chaos in his very structured world. As a professional hockey player, people think I live a charmed life. On the surface, I do. But they don’t know the horrors of my childhood, or the real reason that I have custody of my seventeen-year-old sister, Janelle. And that’s exactly the way I like it. They may think I’m a prick because I don’t like to share, but that’s fine. They don’t know me, and they don’t need to. In an effort to help Janelle get settled in Phoenix and stay out of trouble at school, I set her up with a job at Clarke’s Corner, the local bookstore owned by the girlfriend of a teammate. It’s there that she makes friends with Veronica Woodley, the extremely annoying, arrogant, money-hungry divorcee who I don’t want anywhere near my sister. Janelle insists I’m completely wrong about Veronica, but I refuse to accept that. I have to keep reminding myself that that the gorgeous blond with legs for days is off limits. Through a series of events, I start to see Veronica for what she really is—an amazing woman who has survived her own hell to come out even stronger. I have to admit, we’re more alike than not and the attraction between us burns hot. Maybe I was all wrong about my ability to love and commit, but when the past comes back to haunt me, can I be the man that Veronica, and Janelle, deserve?

Sawyer Bennett is one of my go to authors, I know going in that I can expect a quality read with interesting characters and a lot of heart. Riggs is no exception!

Riggs is a secondary character that we've seen briefly in previous books, but just enough to know his name. It was nice to get to know him better here, to see the curtain peeled back and get to know the real person behind the gruff, loner exterior. Riggs is what I consider a classic Bennette leading man. He is definitely an Alpha personality, but he is a good friend once he lets himself try and has a slightly unexpected side (you get to read the book to see that evolution!).

He is paired with Veronica and I just love her. She is a character that excels on wearing a brave face while internally struggling. The sparks between these two were amazing and Ms Bennette did a fantastic job of taking Riggs and Veronica from adversaries to friends to more. Add in the interactions between Veronica, Riggs, and his sister Janelle and this is a winning combination for people that you can't help but root for to suceed.

Given that this is the 11th book in the Vengeance series, the team plays a major role in the secondary cast. This is one of the places where Ms Bennette's skills shine as she weaves the story together in such a way that loyal series readers will appreciate the updates, but that new reader's won't be lost. There is also a great balance between the Riggs & Veronica storyline and the Riggs/Vengeance story line. I was a little sad to see this story end, but am definitely curious to see where the series may take us next.

Melanie Moreland has revealed the cover for
The Commander, Men of Hidden Justice Book 3!

Releasing February 1, 2022

My instincts had always served me well.
Listening to my gut, the warning voice in my head that told me when to walk away.
I never failed to heed the signs.
Until the day she walked into my office.
I knew she would be trouble, but I ignored the alarm bells.
And then it was too late, and I fell. Hard.
A lie tore us apart, and I thought I'd lost her forever.
But now she's back—with a secret she's been keeping.
This time, I'm not letting her go.

Rewind ~ Kat Mizera ~ Release Boost

Rewind by Kat Mizera is now live!

Available on All Platforms

When you’re on top there’s nowhere to go but down...

Rock and roll superstar Declan “Bash” James is about to meet his match... and fall hard. The sultry drummer isn’t looking for love, he’s looking for a second chance at dominating the charts. Until a clumsy redhead stumbles into his elevator, and life, providing a distraction he didn’t know he needed.

Growing up in a family full of addicts wasn’t easy for Brianna Franklin— and living life on the straight and narrow is the only future she can see for herself. The one that’s stable and leads to culinary school. A path that never included someone like Declan and his rocker lifestyle.

The more Bri tries to convince herself Declan is Mr. Wrong, the more he keeps saying and doing all the right things. When tragedy strikes, will she learn to trust or is she destined to rock on alone?

About the Author:

USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author Kat Mizera is a South Florida native. Born in Miami Beach with a healthy dose of wanderlust, she's called Los Angeles, Long Island, upstate New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Atlanta home. She's never been able to pick which locale is her favorite, but if pressed, she'd probably choose the west coast.

A typical PTA mom with a wonderful and supportive husband (Kevin) and two amazing boys (Nick and Max), Kat can usually be found scrapbooking or indulging in her second love (after writing) - traveling. Greece is one of her favorite places in the world. She loves that Athens is a big city with a small-town feel. The food, beaches and culture keep her going back as often as possible.

Kat's been a working freelance writer for nearly 30 years. She sold her first article--a review of a rock concert--for $10 in 1985. Since then she's been an entertainment journalist, waitress, bartender, legal assistant, food critic, magazine editor, substitute teacher, and sports writer. She also spent some time working at A & M Records in Los Angeles.

As you can guess from her Las Vegas Sidewinders series, Kat loves hockey and occasionally writes articles about her favorite team, the Florida Panthers. The rest of the time, she writes novels: sexy, romantic fiction that she hopes makes you as happy as it makes her. There's something enticing about hockey players and romance...

After meeting the band Nobody’s Fool in the previous two books of the series, I’ve been curious about the “Bash Brothers” so it was super fun to meet Declan “Bash” James in Rewind.

I think one of my favorite things about this book was that while “Bash” is a rock star who has lived on the wild side, the character we really meet here is Declan - the man behind the star. And Declan is at a bit of a crossroads when he meets Brianna.

These were both characters that I really liked. I appreciate that Brianna is a stronger character that is honest about her insecurities and struggles. She was a good match for our rock star who isn’t sure where he’s headed and has his own issues to face.

Overall, this is a sweet story. The writing is well balanced between Declan and Bri’s story and the secondary story around the band. If you are new to the series, there are definite spoilers, so I would try to start with Tyler’s book.

Hold Me Now ~ J H Croix ~ New Release & Review

Release Date: October 19

A brand new firefighter series from USA Today Bestselling Author J.H. Croix!

He’s my new roommate.
I can’t stand him, and he can’t stand me.

Russell Dane thinks he’s all that. Maybe’s he’s so hot he should come with a too-hot-to-handle sign, but he drives me crazy. Not the good kind of crazy either.

He thinks women shouldn’t be firefighters, he’s obnoxiously overprotective, and I can’t stand him. Unfortunately, my body is not getting the memo, but I’m stronger than a few confused hormones. Right?

It wouldn’t be so bad if we didn’t have to work together, and if he wasn’t my boss. It definitely wouldn’t be so bad if he hadn’t gone and kissed me.

Russel & Paisley’s story is perfect for readers who love small town romance, hotshot firefighters, sassy tomboy heroines, roommate romance, frenemies to lovers, hate to love, slow burn, emotional romance with a dash of angst, plenty of steam and swoon, and a broody, protective hero.

In Hold Me Now we meet Russel and Paisley - co workers and unexpected roommates who discover their animosity for each other is really a lot more.

I enjoyed this first book in a new series featuring hot shot firefighters. Russel and Paisley were each entertaining characters and the spark between them could start a forest fire. I do wish we’d seen a bit more character development for both players as it seemed what is here just skimmed the surface.

Hold Me Know has a large secondary cast and honestly skates the fine line of being too much. It’s obvious that while this is the first book in a new series, it picks up where other series have left off with multiple references to things that happened previously. It works here as there is enough detail to add vs detract from the story between Russel and Paisley. We also see several characters that may be featured in future books.

This was a fairly quick read that fit the bill for fun. I am curious about upcoming reads in the series as well as the author’s back list.
