Just when I think Sawyer Bennett can’t get better, she does! Gage is the third installment of the Pittsburgh Titans series and we rejoin the fledgling team to get to know this veteran player better. Fans of Ms Bennett will recognize the female lead, Jenna, from her secondary role in the Arizona Vengeance series.
Both of these characters are just awesome! Jenna is such a strong leading lady. She comes to Pittsburg after some pretty big challenges and shows a great deal of bravery in putting herself out there. I had made respect for her and loved how Gage was the stand up guy to see how valuable that was. And Gage is just swoony! He definitely joins the list of my favorite hockey hero’s!
Gage’s story is mostly sequential in time line compared to the first 2 Titans books. There is some overlap with Stone’s book, but not so much that this can’t be read on its own. While this is a standalone story, there is the team story that is woven through the books. Reading them in order will definitely increase enjoyment- I can’t wait to see who gets a story next!

In Jock Wanted, Ms Meader returns us to the world of the Chicago Rebels as a continuation of the Rookie Rebels series. This time the focus is on Tara, a recurring secondary characters, and newcomer/new team GM, Hale.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about Tara as leading lady material. Her previous appearances have left a mixed impression of her. Ms Meader does an excellent job of redeeming the character and making her someone I wanted to root for. Even through Jock Wanted, there were times I struggled with Tara and her motivations.
Hale was a character that had to grow on me little bit too, mainly because he needed to get out of his own way. I enjoyed seeing his interactions with some of the original Rebel heroes! Some of those conversations were excellent vehicles for letting us see inside his head.
The set up here was different and a situation that could have been fraught with potential extra drama. Ms Meader struck a nice balance while letting things play out. There will a couple of things that I wish had been more fully addressed as Tara and Hale’s situation resolved. It was enough to keep back the 1/2 star, but not enough to keep me from enjoying the book.

Mansplainer, the conclusion to the Beckett cousins books, was well worth the wait! Nash Beckett is a character that we’ve gotten to know in the first two books on the series, but we get a deeper dive into his personality here. He is paired with Chelle, a slightly older woman with family baggage like you wouldn’t believe.
I truly enjoyed getting to know these characters. Nash is deeper and more sensitive than he has let on. Seeing how he clued into the issues Chelle was dealing with and worked to make them better was sweet. I also appreciated how Chelle’s view of relationships was challenged by seeing the Beckett clan.
In Mansplainer, we get to see to people evolve both individually and as a couple. At the same time, there are hefty doses of humor, puppies, cats, and interfering cousins. The secondary cast was fun, especially as this book wraps up a trilogy of stories (and potentially introduces future characters?) Ms Flynn is a must read author for me and this is just one more example of why.
