4 Stars - Would Recommend to a Friend

The 5th in the Cold Fury series, Hawke takes us back to North Carolina to reconnect with our hot hockey playing heros. This time we are following Hawke, a player joining the team and Vale, the team's new assistant trainer.

Hawke and Vale have history, they were high school sweethearts and she broke his heart as he was flying off to join the NHL at 20 years old. 7 years later they are brought back together and their history - and Vale's secret catches up to both of them.

This is a well written second chance romance. Ms. Bennet does an excellent job of letting us see the emotions on both sides of the Hawke/Vale equation. I appreciated the fact that our couple dealt with the past, but that it wasn't a drawn out drama filled process. Hawke - the book - wasn't exactly what I expected going in, but it was a fun surprise. This is a good stand alone book. You catch glimpses of characters from previous books, but they are not central to the story.
