We are back to Quincy with the Eden family, this time with sister Talia. Talia is a doctor in her hometown and life is going according to plan when her ex boyfriend shows up out of the blue 7 years later…. Foster shows up with baggage and the story that unfolds is layered, sweet, and just a little spicy.
I found myself liking both Talia and Foster - and rooting for Foster to make things right for them both. Ms Perry does an excellent job of blending the second chance romantic story with that of the larger Eden family and Talia’s struggles with professional acceptance.
The plot here has a lot going on - I’m not going to go into detail because you need to experience this book for yourself, but all of the various pieces complement each other well. Talia has the larger emotional journey here, and watching her break through her walls is touching.
Garnet Flats is very much a stand alone read. Talia’s sibling play key secondary roles, so there are opportunities to see what previous feature couples are up to now as well as hints for future books, but those items don’t interfere with Talia and Foster’s story.
