Do you like a leading lady who comes into her own and learns to stand up for herself? What about a strong leading man who is a little bossy, but also knows how to listen? If so, then Hideaway Heart is the entertaining, escape read you seek.

Kelly and Xander get off to a rough start, but this makes spending time with them even more fun. I enjoyed getting to know them and Xander's extended family while they spent time in Cherry Tree Harbor. I appreciated the way Xander was able to support Kelly as she navigated stressful relationships and gave life a second look it needed. His ability to see past the famous alter ego to the real Kelly made me like him for her!

This is the second installment in the Cherry Tree Harbor series but reads very well as a stand-alone. Xander's family plays a big part in the secondary cast, but they do not overwhelm the main story. There is a bit of a spoiler if you haven't read the first book in the series, but not so much as to prevent you from going back to read that book (like I intend to).

Ms Harlow consistently delivers series that are inhabited by great characters and communities. Cherry Tree Harbor seems to be another example of this and I am looking forward to seeing the series grow.
