If you have followed Dover's Second Chance series, you've met kicker, Jaxson Reed, and know that he has worked hard to get his bad boy reputation. In Intended for Bristol, we get to see his softer side and his evolution from bad boy to devoted boyfriend.

His love interest, Bristol, is the sister of a new teammate - and an avid avoider of all things football so she has no clue who Jax is when they first meet.

While some of the events described in Intended for Bristol are a bit improbable, the over all book is a lot of fun. There is a dash of intrigue along with hefty doses of sexy time along with a great emotional story. We see Jax have to redeem himself for some of his bad behavior and we see the friends he was reluctant to let in defend him when he needs it.

It was a pleasure to learn more about the hidden Jax and to see him with his family. If you are a fan of the Second Chances Series, you will enjoy this book too. It works as a stand alone, but I think the full effect of Jax's redemption comes if you have read some of the other books as well.

I am a late comer to the Second Chances series (this is just the second book of Ms. Dover's that I have read) and it is safe to say that I am hooked!

The set up for Derek's story happened in the prior book, but I think you could easily read this as a stand alone effort. Linebacker Derek, is returning to his football career after dealing with a personal tragedy. Life - or fate - has him repeatedly crossing paths with veterinarian, Hayden.

Both Derek and Hayden are characters that I couldn't help but like and appreciate. While we don't do a deep dive into emotional territory, we know that Derek is dealing with a lot and I loved the semi slow approach he took with Hayden. Hayden is a smart, self sufficient character with a good job and loyal friends. I enjoyed that Ms. Dover gave her a career that she loved, but also made her approachable and warm as a person.

Chance meetings turn into friendship then to more. Mistakes lead to grand gestures and there is even an element of suspense. The story of Defending Hayden not only tells the story of the relationship between Derek and Hayden, but we also see the important friendships among Derek and his teammates.

There are some elements of the story that are painted with broad strokes and a couple of places where I wondered "what about x?" But, overall this is an interesting read that has me looking forward to what comes next in the series and curious about the first 5 books.

Catching Summer is a engaging second chance romance.

Summer is beginning to reemerge into life two years after the murder of her husband. Evan is the brother of a good friend and has been waiting in the wings for her.

The romance between Summer and Evan seemed to happen a little too quickly for me. The thing that made it work for me is that they have been friends for a while and their social circle are pretty entwined.

There is an element of suspense woven into the story that keeps the reader on their toes. Given Summer's history and hard feelings between Evan and one of his teammates, it's hard to pin down where the threat is coming from. Ms. Dover does an excellent job of weaving the romantic and relationship story lines with the suspense elements so that neither piece of the story feels neglected. 

This is the sixth installment of a series, but new readers (like me) will be able to read Catching Summer without feeling lost. Ms. Dover is a new author for me, but I will definitely be reading more of her work in the future.

Roped In is one book that "roped" me in and did not let go. Hadley Rivers, country music superstar, is doing what she has to do in her life to deal with a stalker and death threats. When her stalker gets too close, extreme measures are under taken. This involves contacting Blake Evans, undercover officer extraordinaire and current Wyoming rancher. Hadley is sent to his ranch to live so he can protect her while her stalker is hunted down. Blake treats her badly when she arrives, wrongly assuming she is a "princess", and gives her plenty of grunt work to do. He soon learns differently about Hadley as she does everything that he throws at her and finally has to admit he was wrong. After time neither can deny the current of attraction that hums between them and this love story starts to take off. When the situation that sent Hadley to Wyoming in the first place is no longer a concern, both are left wondering what comes next. Little do Blake and Hadley know that danger is always lurking, sometimes closer than they realize. This book had everything I love! Love story, complications, danger, suspense, chemistry, intrigue, and sexiness. Don't try to guess where L.P. Dover is going with her characters. The twists and turns keep you guessing as to what happens next. I can't wait to see if some of the secondary characters have their own story coming soon.
