The Things We Leave Unfinished ~ Rebecca Yarros ~ Teaser Reveal

THE THINGS WE LEAVE UNFINISHED by Rebecca Yarros Release Date: February 23rd
  PREORDER TODAY!

Blurb: Told in alternating timelines, THE THINGS WE LEAVE UNFINISHED examines the risks we take for love, the scars too deep to heal, and the endings we can’t bring ourselves to see coming. Twenty-eight-year-old Georgia Stanton has to start over after she gave up almost everything in a brutal divorce—the New York house, the friends, and her pride. Now back home at her late great-grandmother’s estate in Colorado, she finds herself face-to-face with Noah Harrison, the bestselling author of a million books where the cover is always people nearly kissing. He’s just as arrogant in person as in interviews, and she’ll be damned if the good-looking writer of love stories thinks he’s the one to finish her grandmother’s final novel…even if the publisher swears he’s the perfect fit. Noah is at the pinnacle of his career. With book and movie deals galore, there isn’t much the “golden boy” of modern fiction hasn’t accomplished. But he can’t walk away from what might be the best book of the century—the one his idol, Scarlett Stanton, left unfinished. Coming up with a fitting ending for the legendary author is one thing, but dealing with her beautiful, stubborn, cynical great-granddaughter, Georgia, is quite another. But as they read Scarlett’s words in both the manuscript and her box of letters, they start to realize why Scarlett never finished the book—it’s based on her real-life romance with a World War II pilot, and the ending isn’t a happy one. Georgia knows all too well that love never works out, and while the chemistry and connection between her and Noah is undeniable, she’s as determined as ever to learn from her great-grandmother’s mistakes—even if it means destroying Noah’s career.
About the Author: Rebecca Yarros is the Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author of over fifteen novels, including Great and Precious Things and The Last Letter. “A gifted storyteller” (Kirkus), she is also the recipient of the Colorado Romance Writer’s Award of Excellence for Eyes Turned Skyward from her Flight and Glory series. Rebecca loves military heroes and has been blissfully married to hers for almost twenty years. Review Round Up ~ January 24

Coming Soon/New Releases:

No Holding Back (McKenzies of Ridge Trail #1)No Holding Back by Lori Foster

3.5 stars - Worth a Reader's Time

Review Copy Provided by Author

No Holding Back introduces to a brand new group of characters with the McKenzie family, focusing on older brother, Cade.

I found myself liking Cade and his siblings. They had an interesting dynamic and it was fun to see them work together to accomplish their goals. Sterling/Star was a good match for Cade and she fit in well with the family.
One of my favorite things about the book, was seeing the bond between Cade and Sterling develop into a friendship and more.

The overall story here is interesting and I appreciated the shared goal that helped bring Cade and Sterling together, but there were several things I struggled with. The first - Sterling/Star, I was never clear on why she changed her name and why Cade insisted on using the old name. The second thing I struggled with had to do with this being the first book in a new series. There was almost too much going on- we had world building, romance, intrigue, and even setting up book 2.

Even with my struggles, I still very much enjoyed No Holding back and am looking forward to more from this family.

TBR READS:

Quarter Miles (Runaway, #3)Quarter Miles by Devney Perry

My rating: 4 of 5 stars - Would Recommend

Review Copy Purchased

I am loving the Runaway series!
These books are connected stand-alones following a group of former homeless teenagers - now adults as they heal old wounds and find new loves.

Quarter Miles is the third book in the series and while it is an independent story with a brand new heroine/hero, this book is strongly tied to book 2 (Wild Highway). Kat and
Cash (aren’t those the best names) were significant secondary characters in Wild Highway.

This was an interesting and slightly angsty read, mainly because these two likeable characters needed to get out of their own way. Ms Perry did an excellent job of taking these two out of their comfort zone and letting the slug it out. I can’t wait to see what is in store for the rest of the gang!

Bet The Farm ~ Staci Hart ~ Teaser Reveal

Staci Hart has a brand new rom-com standalone coming February 23rd! Bet the Farm is a heartfelt, flirty story of opposites attract and I cannot WAIT to read it! Mark your calendars and pre-order your copy today!

I went down like a windmill, one socked foot in the air and arms wheeling. The calf had still grazed me, and the force combined with my graceless fall slammed me into the ground.

My ribs quaked, my lungs empty from the shock and locked by the pain. Stunned, I watched the calves tromp around me, knowing I needed to curl up or crawl away or call for help. Only I couldn’t move or speak, too busy trying to unlock my lungs and hear past the ring in my ears.

A sharp whistle cut through the chaos, and the calves trotted to the other side of the pen. The sun hammered me into the mud.

Breathe, I can’t breathe, I can’t—

Shade cast over me, and I cracked my eyes to see a silhouette of Jake against the crisp blue sky.

He gathered me to sit, bracing my body against his and inspecting me as best he could. “Are you hurt?”

I shook my head. “Can’t … breathe …”

“You can, just look at me.”

When I met his eyes, I would have told him that was the dumbest thing he’d ever suggested, provided I could speak. Because it was impossible to breathe with his face inches from mine. His eyes were narrowed in concern, the green of his irises crisp and vibrant, even in the shade. Maybe it was the lack of oxygen. I was probably hallucinating. No one could be this perfect, every feature symmetric and aligned. He had to have a flaw besides his shitty attitude. Hairy ears, maybe.

When he turned his head to check my limbs, I noted his stupid ears were perfect too.

Jerk.

Olivia Brent has one summer to save the dairy farm she just inherited.

But there’s one problem, and it’s not her lactose intolerance.

Jake Milovic.

The brooding farmhand has inherited exactly fifty percent of Brent Farm, and he’s so convinced the city girl can’t work the land, he bets she can’t save it in a summer.

Determined to prove him wrong, Olivia accepts what might be the dumbest wager of her life.

His strategy to win seems simple: follow her around, shirtlessly distracting her between bouts of relentless taunting. And it’s effective—if his dark eyes and rare smiles aren’t enough to sidetrack her, the sweaty, rolling topography of the manbeast’s body would do the trick.

What they don’t know: they’ll have to weather more than each other.

Mysterious circumstances throw the farm into disarray, and with the dairy farm in danger, Olivia and Jake have to work together. But when they do, there’s more to fear than either of them imagined.

Because now their hearts are on the line, and the farm won’t be the only casualty if they fail.

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

“Madden-Mills masterfully handles the protagonists’ insecurities and traumas to produce a love story that’s equal parts tantalizing, gut-wrenching, and sweet.” --Publishers Weekly

Not My Match, an all-new sports romance full of smoking hot chemistry from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills, is available now!

Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills delivers a smart and sexy romance about a professional football hottie and the girl he’s sworn to never touch.

Too bad she’s a twenty-four-year-old virgin and I’m a bad boy wide receiver. She’s off limits for a hardcore player like me—and we’re just friends.
Instead, I’m her matchmaking service, no matter how jealous it makes me when I tag along on her dates.

In Not My Match, we return to the world introduced in Not My Romeo. Ms Madden Mills brings us back to Daisy, TN and the Daisy Lady Gang with younger sister Giselle.

Giselle is at a bit of a cross roads when we meet her in this book. We see her struggle a and even deal with her birthday curse. On the sidelines for her adventures, and to come to the rescue when needed, Devon (the teammate of her new brother in law).

I liked both characters here. Giselle is a lot stronger than she thanks she is and it was truly fun to see her stretch her wings and fight for what she wants and needs. Devon is a great example of still waters running deep. He’s a good guy hiding behind a playboy persona.

This is a fun, well written slow burn/friends to lovers story that kept us guessing as to what would happen. The secondary cast here is great too. Aiden (another teammate) adds a layer of competition/humor and Giselle’s family is a hoot.

Technically, this is a stand alone, but I highly recommend reading Not My Romeo first as pieces of the background are laid/more fully explained there. Having enjoyed the first two books so much, I have to admit that I hope Aiden has a story coming soon too.
