When I think of WW II, I tend to think of DDay and the organized forces that stormed the beaches. The Invisible Woman gives us a glimpse of what needed to happen to keep the resistance going and support the invasion of France from behind the scenes.

In this historical fiction piece, Ms Robuck does an excellent job of pulling us into the world of Virginia/Diane as she returns to France of the eve of D-Day. The emotions of the days and weeks radiated so that as a reader we felt the fear and peril that Virginia/Diane and her collaborators were experincing.

I appreciated getting to "walk" in the shoes of this remarkable woman who has gone unrecognized in the general lexicon of WW II. I left The Invisible Woman wanting to know more about people like Virginia and the French Resistance.

The Vineyard at Painted MoonThe Vineyard at Painted Moon by Susan Mallery

My rating: 4 of 5 stars - Would Recommend

Review Copy Provided by Author

In The Vineyard at Painted Moon, Ms Mallery introduces us to three women all at a cross roads in life, even if they don't know it at the time. Mackenzie, Stephanie, and Barbara all seem semi content when we first meet them, but change is inevitable. The questions they face is "are the changes for the better?"

On the surface, Mackenzie's change appears to be the biggest. As the status of her marriage changes, she has to deal with the implications of being the one who married into the family business and with the fact that not everyone/thing is how it appeared for so many years. I found myself relating to Mackenzie and rooting for her. I was impressed by the insight she had into her own emotions and how she was open to acknowledging hurt feelings even as she had no regrets about the changes taking place.

Stephanie was a harder character to like at first. While she was an adult and mother, she lacked a certain emotional maturity early on. Her evolution was a bit hard to watch, mainly because it was the type of experience that would be hard to go through and Ms Mallery did an excellent job of conveying those feelings.

Now Barbara..... There was almost no question regarding her role in things from the beginning and she stayed true to form from the start. Her character is a great example of the saying "you get what you give."

Ms Mallery pulls the reader into the experience of these three women and the family/friends that surround them. I appreciated the messages of strength and love that are woven through the story. There are also great messages about how sometimes we undervalue ourselves because we are comfortable in a situation or take the path of least resistence. But, my biggest take away was that our actions speak louder than words and when you show people who you are, they will beleive you.

This was another heartfelt read from Ms. Mallery. As always, I am curious to see what she comes up with next!

I’ve had Lost Harbor books on my kindle for a while, I wish I had started on this series before!
Gretel and Zander are bother entertaining characters that were fun to get to know. The supporting cast was interesting, but didn’t overwhelm the main characters.

The story surrounding Gretel and Zander is sweet and shows just how well matched these two are once they get past their initial conflict.

I am very curious to read the other stories in the series.

Beneath the Stars ~ A L Jackson ~ Excerpt Reveal

Beneath the Stars Excerpt Blitz

A Friends-to-Lovers Rockstar Romance from A.L. Jackson

Coming February 22nd

Beneath the Stars is coming 02/22, and I'm thrilled to be a part of the except blitz. Check out the fire that is coming to you in this friends-to-lovers romance!

“Just how strong are ya, Mag Pie? Think you can sling me on that back and carry me inside?” He managed to only half slur the words.

Droplets of giddiness dripped into my chest. A well gathering fast. “You’re asking me if I can lift a Mack truck?”

“Hell, no. Just if you can tackle a stallion.”

He waggled his brows, though it was sloppy and goofy and kind of adorable, and god, how easily I could fall for this man.

Like slipping into quicksand.

“What would you say if I wanted to try?” I whispered, throat so tight it was difficult to speak.

He grunted. “I’d say that sounds like a mistake.”

“I thought you said I needed to make a few mistakes along the way?” I lifted my chin, my eyes searching his face in the darkness.

He forced a grin that felt wholly faked. “Ahhh…a few mistakes are called for. But believe me, baby, you don’t want this kind of tragedy.”

“Rhys—”

He shook his head to cut me off. “Don’t.”

I glanced back at the house. “I really should get Royce. He can help me get you inside.”

Rhys huffed out a laugh, shoving off the darkness that had gathered around him like a violent storm. He cocked a playful grin. “Think I’ve received my full allotment of death threats from your brother today, thank you very much. I can make it just fine.”

“Death threats?”

“Let’s just say he made our boundaries very clear.” He gestured at the bare space between us. “Just so you know, we’re already crossin’ them.”

I scowled. “When?”

“Doesn’t matter.”

I huffed a sigh.

Freaking Royce.

“Richard?” I offered instead.

“Nope. Good as new. Can’t keep a good man down.” His words were all slurry and mushed together.

He hopped up like he was going to prove the point.

Only he stumbled three feet to the side.

A goliath who swayed.

I jumped up and rushed to his side. “Whoa there, cowboy. You keep it up, and you’re definitely going down.”

He leaned against me, slinging his arm over my shoulders.

The man heavy and hard and pure masculinity.

He staggered a bit, and I struggled to keep him upright, because holy crap, he was made of brick.

Suddenly, his nose was in my hair. “Why you gotta smell so good, Mags? And this dress.”

My brain was short-circuiting with him this close.

With the words that slipped from his mouth so errantly.

With the way his fingertips grazed over the silky fabric in the barest brush.

Wildfire.

It consumed my flesh.

But it was my heart that was at risk.

Book Blurb:

I always knew I was different.

From a young age, my mind has been plagued with things only I could see. Some hauntingly beautiful, others completely terrifying. Never knowing if these visions were real or just hallucinations, I learned how to lock them down and ignore them. I learned to take solace in the relative anonymity of city life and find peace in the rainy days my city of Seattle is known for.

But just when I think my life is getting on track and my dreams are achievable, a moment of weakness causes me to learn a hard and fast lesson.

My entire existence has been a lie.

Now I’m faced with a new reality that’s as implausible as it is fantastical. Filled with realms and veils, light and dark, fae and daemons, gods and angels—things I don’t understand but am forced to acknowledge. It doesn’t help that the man teaching me about my unique gifts is the gorgeously handsome Carrick Byrne, one of Seattle’s richest and most powerful men. He intimidates, annoys, and intrigues me all at the same time. I don’t trust him and yet there’s no one else to help me.

No longer certain who to put my faith in, what to believe, or how I fit into it all, one revelation is clear…

The world as I know it will never be the same again.

Review Copy Provided by Author

Sawyer Bennett is a one click author for me, so I was excited when she mentioned branching out and trying something completely new. This book did not disappoint!

This is book one of a series, so please keep in mind that this is not the full story and it does in fact have a cliffhanger (this is a big part of why it only gets 4 stars).

We spend most of our time seeing things from Finley’s (our leading lady) point of view. Ms Bennett does an excellent job of pulling us in and making us like Finley while also building a complex and detailed world around her. There is mystery, the is intrigue, and several different pieces of the puzzle that need to be pulled together.

Cliffhangers are a frequent non starter for me, but I am glad I took a chance on this one and only have to wait a few weeks for the next installment.

Wow..... can that be the review?
I really don’t know where to start with how to tell you that this is a book you need to read. When We Met is like nothing I’ve ever read and I really don’t want to give anything away.

Ms Mann does a fantastic job of pulling you into Whitney and Caleb’s story and creating a situation where you can’t help but like and root for these people to find a happily ever after. Just when I thought I knew where the story was going and we have a pretty normal “conflict” the story took a hard right turn that you have to read for yourself.

This is a well written read that makes you question the small decisions we make every day and the potential ripples they cause. Ms Mann is an author that I haven’t read much of, but with each book, I want more - When We Met is definitely in that category.

The Things We Leave Unfinished ~ Rebecca Yarros ~ Excerpt Reveal

THE THINGS WE LEAVE UNFINISHED by Rebecca Yarros
Release Date: February 23rd
  PREORDER TODAY!
Kobo: http://bit.ly/2LCdGCZ
Blurb: Told in alternating timelines, THE THINGS WE LEAVE UNFINISHED examines the risks we take for love, the scars too deep to heal, and the endings we can’t bring ourselves to see coming. Twenty-eight-year-old Georgia Stanton has to start over after she gave up almost everything in a brutal divorce—the New York house, the friends, and her pride. Now back home at her late great-grandmother’s estate in Colorado, she finds herself face-to-face with Noah Harrison, the bestselling author of a million books where the cover is always people nearly kissing. He’s just as arrogant in person as in interviews, and she’ll be damned if the good-looking writer of love stories thinks he’s the one to finish her grandmother’s final novel…even if the publisher swears he’s the perfect fit. Noah is at the pinnacle of his career. With book and movie deals galore, there isn’t much the “golden boy” of modern fiction hasn’t accomplished. But he can’t walk away from what might be the best book of the century—the one his idol, Scarlett Stanton, left unfinished. Coming up with a fitting ending for the legendary author is one thing, but dealing with her beautiful, stubborn, cynical great-granddaughter, Georgia, is quite another. But as they read Scarlett’s words in both the manuscript and her box of letters, they start to realize why Scarlett never finished the book—it’s based on her real-life romance with a World War II pilot, and the ending isn’t a happy one. Georgia knows all too well that love never works out, and while the chemistry and connection between her and Noah is undeniable, she’s as determined as ever to learn from her great-grandmother’s mistakes—even if it means destroying Noah’s career.     Excerpt: Jameson’s head whipped toward the entry, and his heart stopped. Scarlett stood in the doorway, her jacket folded over an arm. She looked like heaven. Her glossy black hair was pinned back, barely brushing the collar of her uniform. Her cheeks were pink, her lips curved in a barely contained smile, and damn, he could see the blue of her eyes from here. She was here. At his base. In his rest room. She was here. He was halfway across the room before he’d even thought to move, abandoning his beer on the nearest table as he went. A few short strides and he was home, sucking in his breath at the warmth of her skin as one of his hands cupped the back of her neck and the other palmed her waist. “You’re here,” he whispered, awestruck as she smiled up at him. This wasn’t a dream. She was real. “I’m here,” she answered just as softly. His gaze dropped to her mouth, and his grip tightened at the hunger that threatened to consume him. He needed her kiss more than he needed his next breath, but he wasn’t about to do it here. Not in front of the jackass who’d implied he needed company. “For how long?”
