Breaking News: Rugby’s bad boy marries his best friend’s little sister

If Renn Brewer would’ve asked me to marry him, I would’ve said no.

Why?

One, his reputation precedes him. His name is in the headlines at least once a month. Two, he’s not just my brother’s best friend. They’re teammates. And three, I’m in my self-care era.

Unfortunately, a version of me equates self-care with bad choices.

The cocktail in my hand—similar to the one that got me into this situation—is the prettiest shade of pink. It’s almost the same color as the giant rock on my left hand. And instead of discussing an annulment, I’m considering a 90-day marriage of convenience to the man I accidentally married in Las Vegas.

Renn didn’t propose marriage. But he does deliver a proposal I might be unable to turn down.

USA Today and Amazon Charts Bestselling author, Adriana Locke, writes contemporary romances about the two things she knows best—big families and small towns. Her stories are about ordinary people finding extraordinary love with the perfect combination of heart, heat, and humor.

She loves connecting with readers, fall weather, football, reading alpha heroes, everything pumpkin, and pretending to garden.

Hailing from a tiny town in the Midwest, Adriana spends her free time with her high school sweetheart (who she married over twenty years ago) and their four sons (who truly are her best work). Her kitchen may be a perpetual disaster, and if all else fails, there is always pizza.

Under the Radar brings us back to the world created around Reynolds Restoration this time with previous secondary character, Chase. If you’ve followed this series, you’ve seen Chase evolve into a solid guy and it is exciting to see him get a chance to shine.

Chase is paired with Hannah. She is a police officer in town and we’ve also met her briefly before. Both of these characters have a bit of baggage that influences how they see themselves and how they interact with the world around them. I liked both, appreciating their strength, and rooting for them to find their respective happy endings.

One of the things I loved about this book is that the conflict was external to the couple. Who they are influences things. Seeing them work together (along with their friends) to resolve things was heartwarming!

This is technically a stand-alone, but it is so ingrained in the Reynolds Restoration world, that I would suggest reading the series in order. The secondary cast here features the prior leading couples, another reason to read in order so that the various backstories make more sense.

Review Round Up ~ July 12

New(er) Releases:

My rating: 4 of 5 stars - Would Recommend to a Friend

Do you need a feel-good friends to lovers read? Then you HAVE to read Plays Well With Others!
Lauren Blakely delivers with these super cute characters that have known each other since high school and are finally in a situation to explore what "more" might look like.

Rachel and Carter both have baggage and their support of each other had me rooting for them from the beginning. Add in an adorable premise and this really was a book that was refreshing in it's approach and "realness"

The secondary cast here is entertaining too. There were a few names I'd seen before - and that sparked my curiosity to go back and find these reads. I am also curious to see if some of these secondary characters might be getting books in the future.

Ms Blakely is an author that I can always count on for a good time and she definitely delivered here.

I’ve been a fan of Stephanie Rose for a while and books like The Marriage Solution are why.
Julie and Landon have been friends since college and have steadfastly stuck by their friends-only status until life throws a couple of curveballs their way.
I loved these two from the beginning and enjoyed seeing them transition from their friends-only status to more.
Ms Rose brought real-life experience into her characters and that added depth to the struggles that Julie and Landon faced as they navigated the change in status. We saw a glimpse of what life can be like for our friends who face something invisible and I appreciate the opportunity to grow and learn.

Before We Fall by Aurora Rose Reynolds ~ New Release and Review

 Release Date: July 7

Tucker Beckett and I likely never would have met if our spouses weren’t having an affair.

Newly divorced with a young son to raise Tucker Beckett is the last man Miranda Owens should be itching to figure out, to make smile, and hear laugh. Still there is something about the detective with haunted blue eyes and a dirty mouth that draws her in from the moment they meet.

If only life were so simple.

As Tucker and Miranda begin to navigate their new relationship, Tucker is tasked with solving the murder of a young woman, while their ex’s begin to play games in an attempt to split the two of them up.

Before they fall, these two will need to figure out if the only thing tying them together is the circumstances that brought them together in the first place or if it’s something more.

Love isn’t complicated but sometimes life is.

Aurora Rose Raynold is an author I have read before, but not consistently and not recently. When the chance come to read an advanced copy of Before We Fall, I couldn't resist and I'm so glad I didn't!

Miranda and Tucker are both interesting characters that I enjoyed getting to know. Their initial meeting is not what I would call a "meet cute," but it's one that the reader won't forget! Both characters come with baggage and I appreciated how the author used that to pull them together vs a wedge to keep them apart.

Before We Fall uses, what I think, is one of the more difficult relationship challenges to launch the story. This highlights the strength of Miranda's character and also gives the opportunity for advice I think all women should hear - knowing the difference between someone who wants you for what you represent vs someone who wants you to be happy.

The secondary cast focuses mostly on Tucker's siblings, but we see some of Miranda's friends and family as well. I am hoping this is the beginning of a new series because I am curious to get to know several of the secondary cast better. There is also an intriguing subplot that didn't feel 100% resolved for me, even more reason for brother Miles to get a book!
