So Over You ~ Kate Meader ~ Blog Tour

About the book:

Three estranged sisters struggle to sustain their late father’s failing hockey franchise in Kate Meader’s SO OVER YOU, Book 2 in the new sizzling Chicago Rebels series. Middle sister Isobel is at a crossroads in her personal and professional lives. But both are about to get a significant boost with the addition of a domineering Russian powerhouse to the Rebels... Isobel Chase knows hockey. She played NCAA, won silver at the Games, and made it thirty-seven minutes into the new National Women’s Hockey League before an injury sidelined her dreams. Those who can’t, coach, and a position as a skating consultant to her late father’s hockey franchise, the Chicago Rebels, seems like a perfect fit. Until she’s assigned her first job: the man who skated into her heart as a teen and relieved her of her pesky virginity. These days, left-winger Vadim Petrov is known as the Czar of Pleasure, a magnet for puck bunnies and the tabloids alike. But back then...let’s just say his inability to sink the puck left Isobel frustratingly scoreless. Vadim has a first name that means “ruler,” and it doesn’t stop at his birth certificate. He dominates on the ice, the practice rink, and in the backseat of a limo. But a knee injury has produced a bad year, and bad years in the NHL don’t go unrewarded. His penance? To be traded to a troubled team where his personal coach is Isobel Chase, the woman who drove him wild years ago when they were hormonal teens. But apparently the feeling was not entirely mutual. That Vadim might have failed to give Isobel the pleasure that was her right is intolerable, and he plans to make it up to her—one bone-melting orgasm at a time. After all, no player can perfect his game without a helluva lot of practice...

 About the author:

Kate Meader was raised on romance. An Irish girl, she started with Catherine Cookson and Jilly Cooper novels, and spiced it up with some Mills & Boon. Now based in Chicago, she writes romances of her own, where sexy contemporary alpha heroes and strong heroines match each other quip for quip. When not immersed in tales of brooding mill owners, oversexed equestrians, and men who can rock an apron or a fire hose, Kate lives on the web at katemeader.com.

Excerpt

“This little job is the difference between you playing and not. Dancing with the Stars, Vaddy baby. It’s where all the washed-up pros end up.” Annoyed at his reaction to her, he skated away, throwing out over his shoulder, “I will be playing, Isobel. You will have no say in that. I spoke with Moretti—it is clear why you have this job.” Her brow crimped. Naturally, it was adorable. “Please. Enlighten me.” “He is new and no doubt under pressure to bow to the owners. You can write your own ticket.” “If that’s the case, I’d just appoint myself as head coach and be done with it.” “You are also conscious of what the fans and media think, so you are starting small. Really, you could have called or texted, Isobel. Buying my contract seems like a lot of work to bring me back into your world.” “You weren’t my first choice. But luckily your poor play this season meant Quebec was happy to offload you.” He ignored the brief stab. The last six months had been difficult. Isobel understood this, yet they could not resist these little cuts. “I think you wanted to be closer to me. Just like before, right, Bella?” A blush crept up her cheeks on hearing his endearment for her. He would test her. Make her angry and emotional. Make her cry. Because angry, emotional criers were not the stuff of coaches. If she was serious about a career in the NHL, she would hear worse. She would get him game fit. He would get her battle ready. He continued to needle. “Yes, I think that must be it. It seems that the female owners of the Rebels would like to abuse their position and use the players for their personal pleasure. Your sister and Remy DuPre—that is interesting.” “Is it?” “Harper may have duped a Rebel player into her bed, but please don’t imagine you and I will be renewing our acquaintance in a similar manner.” That got her attention, at last. Her creamy skin blazed, her crimson mouth twitched, and even from a distance he could see those melted-shamrock eyes darken. She looked like she wanted scream at him. Burst into tears. Slap his face. Yes, Bella. Let us see if you can handle the barbs of every player, coach, and fan who will dismiss you. Let us see if you can handle me. Fury powering her stride, she skated over, skidding to a halt mere inches from his face. As before, she was magnificent. “You’ve found me out, Petrov.” “I have?” “It’s all an elaborate ruse. We bought your contract even though you really haven’t been performing well this season. Let’s face it, you’ve sucked donkey balls, Vadikins. But I convinced my sisters that I alone could bring you back to top condition. Make you a valuable asset to the team. I also made sure I’d be the only one working with you . . .” She leaned up on the tips of her blades, a balancing act that required great skill and remarkable ankle strength. Close enough that he could have slipped his tongue between his lips and tasted hers. Her breath was a hot puff of temptation. “So we would have all this alone time.” With that fiery gaze, she held his own. Unerring. Unflinching. Until her mouth creased, and she broke into a laugh. He remembered that laugh. Just as before, it hit him right in the balls. She used the edge of the iPad to poke him in the chest. “You thought I’d go to all this trouble to try to get into your hockey shorts, Petrov? I’m a team owner—I can have any of these Rebel boys with the click of my fingers!” She chuckled, clearly enjoying herself. “Despite what that supersized ego of yours thinks, the only performance I want from you is on the ice. Maybe if you spent less time carousing—” “Carousing?” “Yes, it’s nicer than calling you a club-hopping, vodka-sodden manwhore. Less of that and more effort on your day job, please. And don’t worry yourself that I’m interested in ‘renewing our acquaintance.’ I’ve had better lays with the Ukrainian delegation at the last Games.” He had to say he enjoyed this sharp-tongued, quick-witted version of Isobel. But not enough to admit it to her. “There is nothing you can teach me.” “So sure, Russian.” “I am positive.” “We’ll see.” She skated back to the edge of the rink. “Again.”

I have a confession to make, from the way this one started, I wasn't sure I was going to like our hero. Vadim didn't make a great first impression, but the more time I spent with him, the more I understood why Isobel fell for him both as a teenager and as an adult.
In this second book of the series, Ms. Meader returns us to the world of the Chicago Rebels with middle sister Isobel's story of a second chance at love. Having read the series from the very beginning (Ford and Addison's novella) it was easy to slip into Isobel's story and I found her incredibly easy to relate to.
Isobel and Vadim don't have an easy road to love. They both come with loads of parental baggage, they have their own romantic history to deal with, and the complication of Isobel being Vadim's coach and part owner of the team. Watching them navigate the troubled waters was actually really sweet and Vadim ends up being a hero that you can't help but fall a little bit in love with right along with Isobel.
Well written and fun, So Over You is technically a stand alone, but I would recommend reading the series in order as there is back story in Harper's story that is impactful to the story line here, especially in regards to Isobel's relationship with her sisters (key secondary characters). I am definitely looking forward to seeing where Ms. Meader takes us next in the Rebel's story!

I write romances with flawed characters, characters with artistic hearts: builders, poets, and writers of various makes and models. I love to write book lovers; those who have found refuge, companionship, and escape in books, much as we do in real life. I like realism, honesty, authenticity in storytelling. I love to write about enduring love, soul-deep love, in as real a setting as I can make, but with big smooshy HEAs. I believe in diversity, open-mindedness, and inclusion. I like sweetness mixed with steam, love conquering all, and above all, hope. Love always wins.

The Thing About Love ~ Kim Karr ~ Cover reveal

Title: The Thing About Love
Author: Kim Karr
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Model: Forest Harrison
Release Date: January 3, 2018

Blurb

The whole stethoscope-and-white coat thing isn’t my cup of tea.

I prefer a man with an artistic vein in his body. 9 - 5 hours. And I can definitely do without the half-lidded, sleepy bedroom eyes. (Okay, so those are kind of sexy.)

Tall, dark, and handsome doesn’t change the fact that he’s arrogant, cocky, and rude.
Not that I care, but he’s made it clear he wants nothing to do with a quirky girl like me, which is why he said no.

Turns out no isn’t an option.

I have a quickie wedding to plan, and Dr. Jake Kissinger doesn’t have a choice. He looks at our situation like he’s stuck with me, but in reality I’m stuck with him. Stuck with his pouty mouth. His long, lean body. And stuck with those loose, low riding scrub pants. (Okay, so the doctor thing is growing on me.)

When spending time together turns into more than it should, I know I’m in trouble.
He isn’t supposed to make my heart pound.
I’m not supposed to make him look twice.
And we aren’t supposed to spend the night together. (Okay, so he has more than one artistic vein in his body, and other places.)

Falling for him is definitely a mistake.

Here’s the thing…
Jake is unavailable, and I know it.
Just not in the way you might think.

I guess you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

A Reckless Redemption by Laura Trentham - New Release and Review

On the eve of her wedding to a man she detests, Brynmore McCann can think of only one way to escape—by ruining herself—but the local lads leave her wholly uninspired. Even though he had loved her sister when they were young, Bryn has always considered him hers, and she can’t think of anyone she’d rather have bed her for the first time. Only she never intends for him to uncover her real name.

Upon returning home, Maxwell is stunned by the news that his father may have left him an inheritance. As the unacknowledged by-blow of a local nobleman, Maxwell struggles with resentment over the way he and his mother were treated by his father and the village. To add to his troubles, he discovers the lass he spent an incredibly satisfying night with was not the village whore, but the high-born sister of his first love. He insists Brynmore travel with him to Edinburgh until they determine if she is with child. Because if she is, she’ll marry him whether she wants to or not.

Along the road to Edinburgh, they are attacked by persons unknown. As the list of suspects who want them dead grows longer and his worries deepen, Maxwell prepares for an even more personal battle—how to keep from surrendering his heart to Brynmore.

Set your expectations about historical romance aside when you pick Reckless Redemption up, because this is NOT a stereotypical book for the genre!
Bryn is a young woman in rural Scotland, being forced into a marriage she doesn't want by her guardians (sister and brother-in-law). She tries to derail the marriage the only way she knows how which puts her in the path of Maxwell and one night changes both of their lives forever.
I loved these two and I especially loved them together! Bryn (thanks to her sister) has no idea that she's a lovely young woman with a heart of gold. Maxwell isn't must better. He does a good job of faking it, but is carrying plenty of his own emotional baggage.
It was truly a pleasure to watch these two try to behave as society expects when they were fighting their mutual attraction and also solving two mysteries. Ms. Trentham did an excellent job of balancing the intrigue elements of the story with the romantic elements. I also appreciated how she weaved Bryn and Maxwell's shared past into the story, especially since it highlighted just how special these two have been to each other without even realizing it.
This is a fast paced story with adventure and intrigue to go along with a strong heroine and dashing hero. It's definitely a story worth picking up if you are looking for something a little different in the historical romance department.

Have you ever been headed down a road that you knew was wrong, but everyone else said was right and you didn’t know how to make a change? That is Angie’s world when we first meet her in Unraveled.
Yes, this is a romance and the relationship between Angie and Cade is front and center, but the part of the story that really resonated with me was the piece where Angie grew up and took control of her own life.
I enjoyed getting to know both characters. Cade’s journey wasn’t as much about emotional growth as it was peeling back his layers. Angie had a much tougher path as she had to decide where happiness could be found (with her own choices or trying to please others).
The supporting cast is small, but impactful- especially their respective siblings. I am looking forward to seeing more of Cade and his Angel in the companion stories to come in the future.

PROLOGUE
Ethan Everest
Every female here has eyed me up and down, even the ones with boyfriends. They don’t even try to hide it. They want me to see. They want me to know I can have them if I want them.
Except her. Blue dress. Red lips. Hair the color of a golden sunset in winter.
Several girls made themselves more than available. I was offered a fast fuck in the bathroom within fifteen minutes of arriving. Fantasies may be taking over, but there’s only one woman who catches my eyes—the demure beauty sitting on the couch.
I want to stare at her.
     She’ll see me though.
I  want to sit next to her.
There are no more spots on the small futon.
I want to talk to her.
What do I say when she makes all the blood rush from my brain and shoot straight to my dick? Damn, I want her.
She’s given me no reason to think of her naked beneath me. No indication that I should have dirty thoughts about those delectable lips. Absolutely no sign that I could have the pleasure of stroking her bare back while I take her from behind.
     Fuck. Me.
While images of her cloud my thoughts, I’m not sure I have a shot in hell of even taking up a minute of her time, much less a night. Nope, not one clue if I have a chance with this beauty.
I’ll take the risk, something I’m adept at doing. More often than not I win in the end. She won’t be an easy target, but nothing worth having ever is. I’m determined to find out if her tongue is as seductive as her eyes.
Although she brings out my instinctive side, this is not about sex and passing time. It’s about spending time with someone who challenges my mind while turning on my body.
Nudging the guy who lives here, I signal across the room and ask, “What’s her name?”
“Who?” He follows my gaze. “The hottie on the couch?”
Heart-shaped face, flawless skin, ample tits, hourglass shape at her waist. She’s not built like a girl who doesn’t eat. She’s shaped like a woman I want to meet. “Yeah.”
“Dariya Rostavik. She’s fucking hot.” He pats my shoulder. “And single. If my girlfriend wasn’t here, I’d be all over that.”
“Cuz you’re an asshole.” Her name, Dariya, rolls around my mouth, spikey instead of rolling off the tongue naturally. The name doesn’t fit her.
“Pretty much.” He laughs. “You gonna hit it, Everest?”
“I don’t know.” I feign interest to him, lying to get his eyes off her. “Fuck, they scored again.” My diversion works, and his attention is back on the big screen.
The truth is, I don’t know if I’m going to hookup with her. I’ve caught her looking at me when she thinks I don’t notice. But is she looking at me the way I’m looking at her?
Was I busted moving closer when she was talking to her friend? Did she see me eavesdropping to hear her voice? Did she notice when I joined a conversation behind her to be closer? Or that I stepped out of the way of the fridge when she wanted a bottle of water?
I never get shot down by women. I’ve lived on easy street when it comes to my looks and, from what I’m told, my personality, attracting the most attractive. Something tells me I might be rejected by her.
She’s not like the other girls here. Nothing about her fits in this environment—a party with a bunch of guys getting drunk while watching sports and yelling at the TV and girls dragged here by their boyfriends or convinced by their friends to stop by.
She’s an innocent among sycophants. Everyone wants something from me, except her. Sexy and smart—speaks right to my heart.
I catch her eyes on me again. This time I stare back until she looks away with a pretty pink coloring her cheeks.
This game with her is much more interesting than the one on TV. I follow her with my eyes as she gets up and joins a group by the window. She seems to know the other girl, but not so much the two guys.
     Good, I inwardly growl.
Keith hits me in the chest. “Who do you have your eyes on?”
     “The woman by the window.”
My best friend shakes his head. “No. Check out eleven o’clock. She’s a model from Romania. Hot as fuck.”
“Not interested. I want more than a fuck.”
“I’m sorry. Have we met?” His sarcasm is as annoying as he’s been lately at the office.
     “I’m for real.”
     “So am I.”
I exhale and shoot him a glare. “I really am. I can fuck anyone. I want to spend time with someone who interests me.”
“You’re working too much. You’re so caught up in your head lately you’re missing what life is really about.”
Crossing my arms over my chest, I indulge him. “And what is life really about?”
“Doing everything in your power to get it while the gettin’s good.”
“Are we talking about business or women?”
     “Both.”
The model is hot, but I feel like I’ve been there done that. I don’t care what he wants. He can have shallow, meaningless relationships. They’re more hassle than they’re worth.
Glancing toward the woman outside, an ease comes over me, releasing some of the pent-up pressure that’s been expanding lately. “You go for the model. I’ll go for Dariya.”
“Dariya?” I’m knocked on the arm, and he points toward the couch. “That’s Dariya, man.”
     “The model?”
     “Yeah,” he says, laughing.
Thank fuck I didn’t go outside and call the beauty by the wrong name. “I’ll be back.” I grab two cans and head toward the window. I stop briefly by the group she was talking to prior, but they’re buried deep into a conversation about American consumerism. I’m not interested in their philosophical views on finances. The only thing I’m interested in is the pretty woman sitting alone outside. The woman excuses herself and I ask, “Hey, you guys know her name?”
     They look outside. “Singer.”
     “She’s a singer?”
“No,” he says, chuckling. “Her name is Singer. Singer Davis. She came here with her friend, Melanie, who just left.”
I don’t hear most of what he says because I’m stuck on the woman with the red lips. Singer. Singer Davis. “Thanks.”
Singer’s been sitting on that fire escape by herself long enough to not feel like I’m invading her space, like she’s taken over my thoughts. I seize the moment and climb out.
This is where our story begins . . .

Home For Christmas by Tracey Alvarez ~ New Release

They’re dreaming of a White Christmas…

Carly Gatlin can’t wait to take her fiancé to Colorado for a snuggly snow-filled Christmas, only a freakish summer storm sweeps in disabling everyone’s plans. Still, with holiday surprises in store and even a secret admirer for Stewart Island’s elderly notorious matchmaker, the happy couples of Oban might not mind being home for Christmas after all.

WARNING: If you’re new to the Stewart Island series, this holiday novella isn’t the book to start with. All your past favorite couples join in the seasonal craziness—and if you haven’t read the earlier Stewart Island books it’ll just be crazy-confusing.

Elizabeth's Review

3.5 Stars - Worth a Reader's Time

Review Copy Provided by Author

This was a cute catch up for anyone has been following the Stewart Island series. Readers get fun glimpses of the couples that have been highlighted in the previous books so that you have a better idea of where they are now. Betsy, the island's 80 something matchmaker, even has a secret admirer.
One word of caution - If you haven't read all (or most) of the Stewart Island books, then this has definite spoiler potential. If that bothers you, I would hold off on reading this until you get caught up with the series.
If you are current with the series (or not bothered by the spoiler potential) this is a great glimpse of the holiday spirit.
