Garden of Goodbyes ~ Faith Andrews ~ New Release

Cover Design: Marisa-rose Shor / Cover Me Darling
Release Date: March 13, 2017

Synopsis
Loss, betrayal, addiction . . . on their own, each of these heartaches can break you, but mix them all together and the concoction will ruin you. When I closed the door on my past I didn’t expect it to come back and haunt me. But when you’re the sole person who can save the only man you’ve ever loved, you rush through that door, face your fears, and pray for the best. Only, anything good has been long forgotten. In its place is destruction, devastation and enough regret to last a lifetime. I was appalled when she called for my help. I went willingly in hopes to make things right. But I never expected this. A broken man, a hopeless future, the beginning of the end. She’s to blame for the mess of a man in front of me and I’m to blame for walking away. Can things ever go back to the normal the three of us once knew? Or am I too late to fix the damage we’ve caused together?

4.5 Stars - One of the Absolute Best

I feel like this book needs a disclaimer - it's is not a "typical" Faith Andrews books filled with romance leading to a happy ending. If that's what you are looking for, then stop and put the book down.
If you are looking for a story that will challenge you and make you think; about love, family, and forgiveness then keep reading Garden of Goodbyes.
Ms. Andrews weaves past and present together to tell the story of Eden, Lennox (her high school sweetheart), and Violet (her sister). Their story is not an easy one to read. At one point Eden and Lennox appear to be the golden couple with Violet is the shadows barely hanging on. It's almost like the writing was on the wall that the happy bubble was really a precarious house of cards just waiting to tumble down. You watch three hearts break when the worst finally happens.
One of the ideas that really struck me in reading the present passages - was the idea of placing blame and forgiveness. Eden and Violet each felt like they were the "wronged" party and if the each had down something different then the situation they were in might not exist..... And, they were both right and both wrong. They were influencers, but Lennox and his actions created the situation. My opinions about the sisters was firmly entrenched for most of the book, but by the end, I could related to them a little better and empathize with them both.
Garden of Goodbyes doesn't have the typical romantic happy ending where the fabulous couple rides off into the sunset, but it does leave us with a sense of love and renewed relationships. This is an excellent example of an author stepping outside of her "box" and stretching her wings with something different and something everyone should give a try, whether you are a long time Faith fan or someone new to her work.
