3.5 Stars - Worth a Reader's Time
Review Copies provided by Authors
I didn't make it through all of the entries in the anthology, but I did read a lot of them. Some were more my cup of tea than others, but my favorite was In Skates Trouble by Kate Meader. This anthology is a great way to meet new authors and help a great cause at the same time. I've included brief reviews if the entries I did get to read.
In skates trouble - 4 stars
I loved Addy and Ford! She's a unique heroine - a curvy girl who has embraced her figure and made it work for her in modeling and in business. She's also slightly older than her hockey playing hottie. He's also not the stereotypical athlete hero, he's down to earth and looking for something real.
Add in a sexy first meeting, off the charts chemistry, and some really sweet moments and you have a run introduction to a series I'm very excited to follow!
Under the midnight Sun - 3 stars
I enjoyed this one, but didn't connect with it as much as other.
A good second chance story. Jonas is at a cross roads. He has achieved everything possible professionally and to continue playing would endanger his health. Running into his old flame - the one who got away- suddenly makes things clear.
The warm up - 3.5 stars
I loved Zim and Suji!
The cup keeper - edwin- is a fantastic secondary character.
Penalty Box blues - 3.5 stars
So sweet - I loved the idea of a super star learning to embrace his learning disability and help others.
Ransoms - 3 stars
A cute story and the characters felt decently developed, but there were parts that felt a little forced. I loved just how far Ransom went to win Lexa back. Their age (23) didn't seem realistic for the life experience he was dealing with
Making his move - 3.5 stars
Oh my gosh - Rod and Ari are just too much! He's such a good guy hero that's it's impossible not to like him, especially his long term devotion to Ari.
Full contact - 3 stars
Cute, but felt like something was missing.
Free agent - 3 stars
M/m romance, good story, but very short.
Deep Check - 3.5 stars
Finn goes home to make amends to a ghost and discovers the home he never knew he had. This is a good story - it's a friends- to- lovers/second chance story that is about finding out where you really belong and what matters to you most.
Check Yes - 2.5 stars
This was a cute idea, but lacked in execution for me. I really struggled to connect with Cooper. He just seemed to be all flash and it was hard to see the good guy underneath
Courage - 3 stars
A good story about fighting for the love you have and the fact that a marriages take work too.
The Edwin "keeper of the cup" character is one of the few characters that was in all of the stories. I struggled a little bit with the inconsistencies of who he was.
