To Catch an Earl (Bow Street Bachelors, #2)To Catch an Earl by Kate Bateman

My rating: 4 of 5 stars - Would Recommend to a Friend

This was such a fun and unique historical read!

Emmy and Alex are both entertaining characters that I enjoyed getting to know and found myself rooting for them to figure things out. The secondary cast is small, but equally fun. I loved that Seb (Alex’s friend) was openly rooting for Emmy when she did the unexpected and crossed Alex.

The overall plot is engaging and builds the conflict throughout the story. Emmy is a heroine who is not afraid to use her wits and intelligence to accomplish her goals. The fact that this brings her to cross swords with her long time crush is a bonus. I wondered how Ms Bateman was going to bring these two too the same side and I was very pleased when she did! It was a moment that was true to who they characters were and fit very well into the flow of the story. On a romantic front, the push pull between Emmy and Alex was fantastic. The tension between the two radiated off the page.

How to Catch an Earl was a book that I very much enjoyed. I am looking forward to seeing how the trilogy surrounding the Tricorn owners wraps up with Aden’s story.

KORU Read:

Midnight Kisses (Little Sky Romance Book 1)Midnight Kisses by Alexa Rivers

3.5 stars - Worth a Reader's Time

Review Copy Provided for Judging

This was a quick, sweet read. Emily and Justin are both like-able characters that we see enough of to root for, but not enough to know very well.

I enjoyed the idea of them knowing each other forever and finally figuring out that they might be right for each other. Both characters had some emotional growth, especially Justin, and it made me hope they could find a happily ever after.

This is a super short read, so while it was entertaining, there are no deep dives into characters or plot, I definitely would have liked to have seen more.

Cowboys for a Cause: A Western Romance Anthology Benefiting Covid19 ReliefCowboys for a Cause: A Western Romance Anthology Benefiting Covid19 Relief by Maddie Taylor et all

My rating: 3 of 5 stars - Average Read

Anthology Purchased

After reading the entire anthology, there is a mix of very short stories and novella length reads. Given than this was purchased for charity, I will say that it was worth the money spent.

Trusting her Cowboy - bj wane - 4 stars
Cowboy + wolf shifter + D/s leads to an engaging story with interesting characters. I enjoyed Aislyn and Gavin very much. I appreciated that they had interactions and developed a real relationship, not just sexy times. I am definitely curious about Gavin’s brothers and potential stories for them.

Halfway home by Maddie Taylor - 4 stars
This was a super sweet friends to lovers read. I loved Audrey and Nate and their reconnection.

The painted lady - Raisa Greywood - 4 stars
Interesting characters and a good plot, I would be interested in reading more by this author.

Kidnapped by the cowboy - Sierra Cartwright - 4 stars
Well developed characters and interesting plot. It makes me curious about the author and related works.

Rogues return - Desiree holt - 3.5 stars
This was another quick, but well developed read. I found myself curious about the characters and wanting to know more about Rogue, Liz, and their Soldier of Fortune friends

Badgering her Cowboy by Golden Angel - 3.5 stars
A fun story that introduces characters from another series. Definitely ups the curiosity factor!

Cassandras cowboy - kallista Dane - 3.5 stars
Interesting story that makes me what to know more about what happens to these characters.

Charlie’s Girl by Kate Richards - 3.5
A sweet story with interesting characters and a good plot.

River’s Edge by Maggie Ryan - 3.5 stars
A quick, read that was sweet and sexy and the same time. I liked both Peyton and Bain and wanted to get to know them better.

Agent cowboy - Shanna Handel - 3.5 stars
Likeable characters and decently sketched out plot- I would actually like to see a full story for this couple

The getaway ranch - Tessa Carr 3.5
Engaging and complete story.

Deep Waters by Alyssa Bailey - 3 stars
Of the three stories I’ve read so far, this is the most developed and enjoyable. I like Jed and Maggie and found myself curious about the Waters siblings. Unfortunately, there were inconsistencies and editing issues that pulled me out of the story and had me wondering what was going on.

Badlands - Delta James - 3 stars
Lots of potential here, but it seems like a lot of the story got lost somewhere a long the way. Rafe and Izzy has potential to be interesting characters, but I lost respect for her when she flipped from struggling to be heard to forgiveness and acceptance after less than one day together and a physical encounter that started as less than fully consensual.

Méri’s man - lj garland - 3 stars
This is a companion to the previous story. It’s entertaining, but the plot is a bit far fetch and it didn’t feel like we got to know the characters as well.

Rogue Cowboy by Linzi Basset - 3 stars
I liked Rachel and Hunter, I found their story interesting and appreciated the intrigue element as well.
There were editing issues and language choices that didn’t really make sense. There was also an unresolved plot element.

Wait for me cowboy - Mary wehr - 3 stars
An okay quick read. The female lead was beyond annoying
The cowboys little girl - Meredith oreilly - 3 stars
Interesting story, good characters.

Knockin Boots by Peyton banks - 3 stars.
Yani and Rashad made this a fun quick read. It would have been a strong read if the editing issues had been fixed.

The cowboys replacement bride - Sue Lyndon - 3 stars. Based on what I read here, I would be interested in seeing the rest of the story. Characters are interesting.

Marrying the murderer - Vanessa Brooks - 3 stars
Entertaining, but a bit far fetched.
