I have to confess, I love Toni’s hockey boys.
Gus was a character that I didn’t love at first, but he was like ivy on a beautiful old house and grew on me as the story went along.
Bo wasn’t what I expected for a heroine and she started off like a prickly cactus, but eventually won me over.
Much like the characters, Misadventures with a Rookie took me a little bit to become invested in, but once I did, I didn’t want to put it down. Gus and Bo are characters that are more complex than they initially appear and those complexities are what made this work for me.
Hockey is a great secondary character here and I have to admit I would love to see more of these characters and their friends. .
