Blurb:
Aiden Haunted by memories of his past, Aiden plays the part of the happy-go-lucky friend. Always ready with a teasing smile or a joke, he is good at hiding his pain. Using his impressive physique as a shield, he keeps his past buried beneath his rugged exterior. Except, one woman sees through his façade. Her green eyes see too much, even as her body tempts him. Even as his heart yearns for her. Cami is determined to make him realize that he is worthy of being loved. He pushes her away at every turn, yet finds himself unable to keep her at arm’s length. I enjoyed this series after reading the first book, Bentley. Now, after having read the second book focusing on Aiden, I have a serious crush on the boys of BAM.
Aiden and Cami (our couple here) both played significant roles in the first book, so catching up with them here was like getting to know friends even better. I especially appreciated the glimpses of Aiden's softer, more emotional side; even as he broke my heart with his struggles.
Well written and entertaining, this book has all the elements to pull the reader in and not let go. There is friendship, intrigue, romance (even when the hero fights it), and most of all, the redeeming power of love.
You could read this book as a standalone, but I would advise against it. A lot of the ground work for Cami and Aiden's story is set up in Bentley's book. The core cast is also small enough that there would be heavy spoilers for anyone hoping to go back and read the first book later. To be honest, my one complaint is how heavily interconnected the books are. Not only do we see Bentley's story continue here, we also see some of the set up for Maddox's book. Those issues do not detract from Aiden's story, but the line is very close.
Overall, this is an excellent series - just one I would make sure to read in order.
