This is a quick read from a reliable and entertaining author. Finding Alexei is a standalone read in a connected series, so we have met Alex before (in Dear Jane for me) and it was nice to get to know him a little better here.
I have to admit to struggling with this one a little bit, especially the set up. On one hand, I admired Alex's desire to step in and help someone in a dire situation, but how the situation played out just seemed a little over the top.
Character wise, I liked Alex and Ryleigh. I appreciated that they both had a deep down desire to help and make life better for someone else. Ms Ryan hinted a little bit about how Ryleigh ended up where she did, but never really addressed how her choices had been the best she could do and that's information that I think would have helped me in relating to the character more. There was also a hint about how Ryleigh's job/history could negatively impact Alex's career, but that potential conflict was left unexplored.
Overall, this was a fun and fairly light read.
