I have a small confession to make.... as a long time a Marie Force reader I wasn’t sure how I felt when she launched the Quantum series. Now, 8 books later, I am so glad we got to know this group of people. The 4.5 star rating is a much for the series as it is Famous because while this is technically a stand alone, I think a reader would be doing themselves a disservice to not read the series in order.
Well written, Ms Force weaves current day headlines (the #metoo movement) and important social issues (domestic violence) into Marlow’s story. Shining a light on these issues, even in a fictional setting, hopefully brings hope to others struggling.
This is very much Marlow’s story. The focus is on her desire to have the type of relationships her friends/co workers have found, the missteps along the way, and a potential happy ending. We see just how strong Marlow is as she faces a challenge and learns to lean of the people closest to get through it.
My one complaint (that seems really strong) was the shifting away from the key main characters POVs to that of several secondary characters for several chapters in a row. It captured needed information and made sure the gang was all spoken for, but the presentation seemed a pick awkward. This is totally personal preference, so please don’t let this one thing dissuade a reader.
Overall, I loved the book and series.
