Gotta love a scheming Granny!
We’ve met and seem glimpses of Stella in her sister’s books and it was so nice to get a fuller picture of who she is in Only Love.
Ryan is a Marine veteran living next door to Stella’s grandmother. Grandma Ruthie engineers a meeting and they stumble through the rest.
I liked both Stella and Ryan. I appreciated that she wasn’t the paragon her image in the first two books made her out to be. Her flaws made her more human and relatable. His struggles are (I think) a good representation of what so many returning warriors go through.
These two together and their interactions had me rooting for them from the beginning. While their relationship developed quickly, Ms Harlow did an excellent job of capturing the emotions on both sides. The dual POV let us see not only how each character was feeling, but their perception of the other side as well. Seeing both sides upped the empathy factor for me in regards to both Stella and Ryan.
Well written and entertaining, this fairly quick read has just the right balance of angst, humor, and romance. Add in good friends and sisters to back Ryan and Stella up and you have a winner to complete the series. This can be read as a stand alone, but I think it is much stronger if Only You and Only Him have been read before as it solidifies the sister's relationship and references that appear here.
