Review Round Up ~ April 25

Coming Soon:

Asking for TroubleAsking for Trouble by Amy Andrews

3.5 stars - Worth a Reader's Time

Review Copy provided by Publisher via Net Galley

In Asking For Trouble, we return to Credence, CO with Della and Tucker as she begins to spread her wings.

I enjoyed getting to know these two characters better. Della has already put so much effort into her healing process that it was sweet to see her take the next steps. There was a great element of push pull with these two and I appreciated that Tucker was sensitive to Della’s past and worked to ensure her happinesses.

The secondary cast here is a lot of fun and contributes to some of the more emotionally engaging moments. I loved the crew at “The Old Folks Home” as well as Della’s brother, Arlo. I am definitely curious to see what happens next in Credence.

The MisterThe Mister by E.L. James

3.5 stars - Worth a Reader's Time

Paperback Copy Purchased

This book has been sitting waiting for me to read it for close to a year (since I met Ms James at a signing) and while I enjoyed it, I didn’t love it.

The characters are interesting. Our hero is a reluctant earl who just inherited the title; his leading lady is an Albanian refugee in England illegally. I liked both Maxim and Alessia. His conversion from a complete playboy to a devoted boyfriend is refreshing, especially since he doesn’t see if coming. We also saw her blossom from a timid cleaner to a brave young woman who could hold her own.

Plot wise, The Mister has a good story. There are multiple layers and lots of potential twists. The thing that kept me from giving this higher rating was that as interesting as the plot was, there were sections that seemed to drag.

I have to admit I am curious to see what happens next. Do these two get to keep their happy ending? How does the former countess/best friend handle the change in situation? While these questions don’t have to be answered- I love to see if they were!

Curvy Attraction: Aiden & Cecelia (Untouchable Curves, #1)Curvy Attraction: Aiden & Cecelia by Christa Wick

My rating: 3 of 5 stars - Average Read

Copy Purchased for Free

If you are looking for a plot driven, in depth book- this is not it. If you are looking for a quick and steamy distraction, then you will definitely find that with Curvy Attraction.

I liked Cecilia and Aiden and even found the idea of her hiding a crush on the older man while he waited for her to mature sweet. Unfortunately, there isn’t a ton of story in between the hot steamy scenes.

This was a free read and I honestly feel like it was priced right. Given the length and lack of story, I think I would have felt a bit cheated.
