Southern Hotshot ~ Jessica Peterson ~ New Release & Review

Lusting after the woman trying to steal my job is stupid. Sexting with her? That's a game-changing fumble.

Southern Hotshot by Jessica Peterson is now live!

Emma Crawford became enemy number one the second she stepped foot on Blue Mountain Farm. She might think I'm just a dumb jock, but I know she's a stuck-up wine snob who believes she'd be a better exec than me.

She can take my position over my dead body.

But with her ridiculous curves and fearless smarts, she's becoming one giant distraction just when I need to prove my worth most.

Lucky for me that I have a secret internet sext partner to blow off steam with. My nightly dirty chats with V scratch all the itches Emma gives me.

Emma and V couldn't be more different--except it turns out they're the same person.

Just when I thought this scenario was enough of a disaster, I'm falling for the co-worker I can't touch and can hardly stand.

Even a hotshot player like me can see this is a game we're both gonna lose.

SOUTHERN HOTSHOT is a full length, STANDALONE small town novel. It is the second book in the all new North Carolina Highland series.

Jessica Peterson writes smart, sexy romance set in her favorite cities around the world. She grew up on a steady diet of Mr. Darcy, Jamie Frasier, and Edward Cullen, and it wasn’t long before she started creating irresistible heroes of her own. She loves strong coffee, stronger heroines, and heroes with hot accents.

She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband Ben, her daughter Gracie, and her smelly Goldendoodle Martha Bean.

Southern Hotshot (North Carolina Highlands, #2)Elizabeth's Review

3.5 stars -Worth a Reader's Time

Review Copy Provided by Author

Southern Hotshot is the second book focusing on the Beauregard family and their Blue Mountain Farm. This is the second book in the series, but timing wise runs pretty much concurrent with the first book, Southern Seducer.

Samuel (2nd oldest brother) and Emma (the sommelier hired for the restaurant) are the stars of this story. They are both interesting characters and I enjoyed their push/pull as they both worked out what they wanted and needed. The facts that these wants and needs were professional and personal added a dynamic twist that kept me on my toes as a reader.

This was rocking along as a solid 4 star read up until the “conflict” scene. I understood and expected the core piece of the conflict as it was something Emma had mentioned several times, but how it came about seemed a bit odd and out of place to me. The goal seemed to be two fold in that the issue added conflict and set a stage for book 3. Part of what bothered me about this set up was that several of the characters seemed to step out of their normal behavior and didn’t handle things in a way that felt true to who they presented themselves as before.

While I was a little disappointed in the conflict and it’s resolution, I still enjoyed Southern Hotshot. It was fun to catch up with the family and see Samuel embrace a side of himself that had been buried for a long time. I am looking forward to seeing what comes next!
