Kit
Molly Lynch isn’t like any woman I’ve met before. The pretty, ball-busting reporter has a penchant for asking questions that dredge up memories I’d rather keep buried. I answer them, though, because I’m so intrigued by her—a mix of shy and bold, so set in her ways that the slightest change knocks her off kilter. The closer Molly gets to my dark truth, though, the more I try to shift her focus to what I want most—her total surrender to me in the bedroom.   Molly   I finally have the life I’m meant for. Predictable. Boring. Safe. NHL player Kit Carter upsets the stability I crave when he looks at me with his dark eyes, wounded and guarded, but also swirling with desire. I can’t let him figure out who I truly am—driven not by ambition but by anxiety. Unable to let go of my control, even for a second. There’s something about Kit that draws me to him so powerfully it’s no longer a choice, though. I need to give in, even if it costs me everything.

Professional athletes have a perfect life, right? Well, in Kit, author Rothert calls that idea into question and makes us think about how we judge and think about the people we only see glimpses of in life.

The focus here is Kit (we've met him before as a secondary character) as he participates in marketing activities that introduces him to Molly. I liked these two characters together, even when they were at the early stages of building their friendship. In getting to know Kit and Molly, she carries her emotional baggage in such a way that it's easy to see, to empathize with, and root for her to move forward and heal. Those visible battles for Molly made me love Kit for her as he's just such a good guy - until he's not.

Before you go hating on Kit, he had his reasons. I appreciated the way Ms Rothert led these two to the needed conversations and allowed them to adapt and support each other as they faced their unique struggles.

My biggest - and only - complaint about Kit is that the book wasn't longer. There where a couple of things that I would have liked to have seen more fully explored. I don't want to give anything away, so I won't go into detail here, I will just say that there were things that could have help cement Kit and Molly as a couple.

I continue to enjoy the Chicago Blaze series and I can't wait to see who is next to tell their story.
